3.
I don't like the attitude of music shop staff members...All the MM basses have lazer fields and the like, should you even breathe on them! Why should you buy without trying? They are there to test first and buy later if need be, just like a car showroom. Hence, I don't use music shops any more...Going to buy strings and they don't even know what your on about and try to make YOU look stupid!? I don't think so. 4.
Hello, For a while ive been trying to master slap and pop since im such a fan of flea. at first i was awful at it, but i blamed having the wrong type of bass. I got myself a jazz and im still pretty crap at it. when i pop it just sounds like im picking it strongly...if i apply more force i just get a really loud twang. when i slap i get more sound coming out of the thumping against the fretboard then i do than coming from the amp. (if i put the volume up it just sounds too loud) So basically what i end up with is a bit of trash - it's a shame 'cause i wont be able to work on so many RHCP b-lines. After a few hours of watching slap bass solos on the ol' yuutoobe, i'm starting to think slap bass is a piece of trash itself - just too many notes thumped and mashed per second. i came to the conclusion that id rather hear a fingerpicked solo with lots of growly distortion. This is the kind of slap bass i just love - it's a shame i cant mimic it and then change it into my own. I guess my point is, since i love some slap bass lines, should i try to work on it or should i just forget about it 'cause im never gonna get it?...and if i do would there even be much use to it? am i disadvantaged cos i cant tap or pick? (i can only fingerpick...im good at strumming chords too ) Chearses
The Slap Bass Program DVD is very good and has been around for a long time. Just don't give up...it's a hard style to crack. I also hate the million notes per minute showing off - tuneless and pointless. Marcus is the master of the slower slap groove.
 5. Try putting them in the dishwasher with the crockery. Believe me, it works.
 6.
I haven't heard anything about a Marcus and Sanborn touring together. I know that Sanborn is on tour at the minute-I think he was in London last week-and Marcus is on the SMV tour,so i'm pretty sure they aren't together.
It might not be until January, or so I heard.
 7.
Showing my age but that was originally 'Good Times' by Chic.... then sampled for 'Rapper's Delight'...... sorry to be picky but Mr Edwards is one of my all time hero's
Ha! Know the feeling. At the shop where I work, I put Stevie Wonder's 'Higher Ground' on and all the young lads said, 'Oh, Stevie Wonder's covered a Chili's song!' The generation gap, eh?
 8. I have an Ashdown MAG 600 head and an Ampeg BA410HLF cab for sale. Both are mint. The cab is 4ohm. I am looking for £500 for the pair.
 9.
Hi all Due to a bit of double booking confusion between me and our drummer (it's always his fault though) i could do with finding a replacement band for an annual ball. It's an army do so not too formal (they booked us cos we aren't the usual old wedding band codgers), should be a riot. One we were looking forward to playing but it seems our drummer had booked us in for a civil partnership function so meh Possibility of follow up gigs too if they like ya. It's 18-50s so a variety of material would be ideal, we do older 60s/70s, a bit of TRex and Beatles, then more modern stuff later on (Kings of Leon, Killers etc.) Any takers? Pm me with details and i'll pass them on Cheers! Steve
I used to work for an entertainment agency. If you give me some details I might be able to help.
