I don't know what to say. I'm very shocked and upset. I only met Si twice but judging by the tears that I can no longer hold back he had rather a profound affect on me. He gave me some great advice and sold me the nicest bass I've ever played, a 70RI jap non export P at a very fair price which will be with me for life. The memories of Si that go with it will add to it's sentiment. My deepest sympathies go to his family and friends, if I feel this much like I've lost someone very dear to me god knows how they must feel. If I can do anything to honour his memory or help anyone this has affected please let me know. I only hope he didn't suffer. I'll see you in another life brother, for now peace be with you and everyone around you. I will always admire your nature. Rest assured you won't be forgotten. Ash
  8. Gaf is a lovely guy to deal with and this looks a stunner. Bump!
  9. Music man has become all about making money by the looks of things. Theres nothing special about the newer ones at all. I vote kill the sterling, bongo, big Al, the whole range of guitars, the 3 eq ray, the piezo pickup and everything else they make apart from the 2EQ ray, stick the flamed maple neck and the mutes back on it and just be happy with that.
  10. Ohhhhhh sh*t! why did you do this? why? I want it and i cant afford it! Burst colors look so good on the T-40
  11. That's something you don't see every day!
  12. 2eq is definatly the way to go. Real authentic ray grunt, simplicity and everything else. I need to get my hands on one too!

  14. I donated them to charity! But yeah, shameless grovelling!
  15. Don't worry guy. I got 3 copies of your book for Christmas last year. Having already bought it myself
  16. Maybe a preamp pedal, Sansamp BDDI or simular would help? I use one for our C stuff. It really kicks things up a notch.

Grabbers aren't really too metally. It has a loud pickup and while it is a bit of a one trick pony it's a very impressive trick that it knows. The sliding pickup doesn't really change the tone too much. I generally leave mine right up to the neck. Grabbers rock. They don't do much else though. Also the neck dive is a right pain in the ass until you get used to it.

I have a grabber. It's got a seriously good rock tone. Kinda like a p but with more bite, it's disgusting with a sansamp. It doesn't take kindly to changes in temperature though. The jazz is a staple for me. I'd get an M/CIJ and get some hot pickups in it, wizard 84s or Hammers or simular. The geddy is nice but as a previous owner it's impractical. The neck is too slim for it's own good. There's a nice CIJ in the for sale section courtesy of OldGit. The colour isn't for me but the neck is to die for in terms of speed, comfort and craftsmanship. I'd definatly recommend one.
  19. I may check that lemmy book out. Is it along the same lines as guys book?
  20. It has to be said. I effing love Guy Pratt. He's the player Floyd always deserved and the only author who has ever kept my attention all the way through a book.
