1. Things are getting silly around these parts. I'll keep a look out. Aside from he obvious sites keep an eye on Shpock. It's covers local areas.
2. I've been watching this thread and have decided it's time to contribute. in 1989 I owned a Warwick thumb, kubicki factor and a Wal Fretless. These were at the time my three ultimate basses. I was 18 and playing through a lovely Trace Elliott rig. I was playing loads and loving life. Long story short. I'd bought my first house with blood sweat and tears recession hit in the early 90's. Anyway mortgage payments to be made work drying up. The Wal went first. I took it into Musical Exchanges in Birmingham. For those who knew the place it was Gaz. He looked at me and said " are you sure" I had no choice. I covered my mortgage payment for that month. The factor and Warwick followed. I wouldn't change a thing but I'd love to own them all again. It is what it is !

6. Once around the world by It Bites. Its worked maybe twice. 😀
7. This does it for me. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RYypmgIYOVQ
8.
(typical on live stuff) two guitarists on camera 'cos the bass player's tucked away at the back where no one can see him 🙄😄😄
That's so true. Does my head in when you have such great playing. I want to see the neck and hands. Every time !!
9. Love it
10. Any thing by It Bites. Word for word. Note for note. Defined my teens
11. Great topic I'm sure we have all experienced this dilemma. Petrol in the car or play that sh*t song? The Anniversary Waltz by status Quo. ( sorry Rick Parrfitt RIP) not my proudest moment.
12. Tasty! I like where the bass sits in the mix, nice tone. Once i heard it, i had to grab my bass. Its a left hand stretcher alright.
13. I used a bergantino 4x10 for years. They push some serious air. Like you I found the 4x10 bulky at times. I moved to 2 2x10 bergs a few years ago. personally I'm really pleased with the move. Lighter, move versatility for smaller gigs or using one as a monitor. As mentioned stacked vertically you gain some height. I don't think id go back.
14.
Just realised I've seen them - they were on the Knebworth bill in '79. Back on topic, can't stand 'em but you can't deny their talent - and Dave's singing over those tricky bass lines too.
Love it!
15. I've learnt to look after myself more and jacked in one of the bands I play in. Not because of personalities.. it's because I'm sick of playing for the sack of it. My confidence is growing and I'm more comfortable with my real ability. I've also learnt I don't need to worry about if I'm impressing people by being all technical. That just being simple and getting it right is more important..
16. A while ago I was asked to learn some Chas and Dave tunes for a guys birthday. I was shocked at the complexity of the bass lines. I knew them from my childhood but hadn't noticed Dave Peacocks playing. Top player. https://youtu.be/GeWA7ewDBD4
17. One of the finest basses you will ever own. GLWTS
18. I think I get what you mean. We do tend to put famous people on very high pedisols. The shock people express is at times, almost as if if your famous you are immortal. That they don't get cancer etc. I think attitudes have changed as generally people are more willing to show there sadness publicly. I've often wondered what the families must feel. They have lost a close relative. I imagine the fame bit becomes secondary to them. People feel they have an infinity with famous folk. Even though they may never have met. I suppose the nature of fame means their body of work lives on. It's accessible all the time. It's important to celebrate the lives of all those we loose.
19. "Look mate the agency said you were an 80's cover band. Not a spandau ballet tribute act"
20. I've joined a new project. (Same stuff different people). I'm having to sing on a number of songs. Done lots of ohh err vocals in the past, however this lead stuff is a very different beast. Whilst I understand none of us can multi task as such. It's made me wonder if muso's are better at completing different tasks at once ? We must be?
21. I wouldn't worry to much. If you get into the mindset that something might go wrong, there's a danger you'll end up bringing bring two of everything. There's more chance things won't go wrong! I just keep my gear in good nick as much as possible. For me it's usually things like batteries, extension leads, gaffer tape. Enjoy your return to gigging
22. The mans a player!! I love bass player like Nick. Inventive, melodic and solid. The Holy Grail.
23. You have to consider Heart. It's vohair classics
24. The more i listen to the huge production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and the show tune crew. The more i love how they use the bass to emphasis and dictate the pace of the songs. There is some incredible playing on these songs. I would love this gig!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Vx8KpqTVCk seriously it like a free for all on bass https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cph7zmr0ztk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmFhcst0s9I you get to noodle a bit groove a bit!
