Super Ska gig in Birmingham. Crowd were great. My Fender Rumble filled the space and the floor rumbled. Had a great time. I just love it when the crowd are up enjoying themselves. Makes it so much more enjoyable

I dont need one of those. Every time i play is a master class in how not to play!!! I can only wish i was at that level of ability

Quality player

A full-on sound check is becoming less of an issue for the bands I'm in. We use IEMS and Line 6 stomps or Pods, so the signal is routed through a desk, which can save the settings. Once we have set up, we rely on our ability to send the right signal to the desk. The onstage sound is the most important. Once the balance is right, the FOH is just another gain stage. If I'm using amps, I just set it for the venue size. I personally try to look at all the complementary frequencies I may be competing with and set my level where my sound won't get lost. Aside from that, there is usually someone in the audience who feels the need to tell us/ me whats not sounding right

I drop my wire down my back under my top like with my In Ears. Its ok

I love my NUX Might Plug Pro. It has decent amp sims for something so basic. The only wire is from the unit to the headphones. It's well worth some research. works of an App that links to your song library of choice.

I moved to full IEM using Line 6 Helix Stomp DI to the front of the house a number of years back. It's great; I love it and am happy I did. It made me a tighter player and vocalist, so I got rid of my high-end amp and cab. Then a dep gig came up. Nice and easy. I know a few of the players, all good SKA stuff. Brings me straight back to my school days. Fred Perry and Docs. I wrongfully assumed it was a silent stage. No, I need an amp. Managed to get hold of a Fender Rumble V3. Went to gig and was blown away by the experience of using an amp again. As a side note, the Rumble is an incredible amp. As light as a feather, and power and tone beyond many high-end gear I've used. ( if you have not tried one, DO!) Anyway, it was just great to feel an Amp again and feel connected to the room and other players. I feel like Natalie Imbruglia, "I'm torn"

RIP As a kid i used to go to the main Libary in Birmingham. You could lend out cassettes. I remeber listening to 'First Take' in mid 85 for the first time. Her voice was one of the most incredible voices ive ever had the privilage to hear. Incredible musician

We had another one with the band that did the 'black country tour thing'. We were asked to play at a festival in Leicestershire. The organiser asked if we would play at a local venue a few months before as a promo thing. No PA needed just us and backline. What a shi$ show. The promoter was like Joe Exotic from Tiger King. Complete tool. The support band were a group of local Uni Students who dressed in homemade space suits and sang one long song called 'Jeremy, Jeremy, Jeremy. Jeremy etc etc. They were wonderfully weird. We got ready to set up and the PA blew up during the sound check. It was a piece of shit Carlsbro thing from the mid 80's. Joey Exotic is nowhere to be seen. We backed up and drove home. Guess what we never did his festival

We used to do a gig in Tipton in the Midlands, part of the 'Black Country tour bus' route. This is basically bus companies that fill a bus with hen, stag, and group outings and drive them to iconic bubs around the Black Country. we would set up sound check and then sit around until the gaffer told us a bus would be pulling up in 5 minutes. As the doors opened we would start our set. They would stay about 30mins or so and we would stop and wait for the next bus. Maybe 6 a night. One night there was a bus with a female biker crew arrived. They had clearly been to a few venues and were well on it. we played a few crowd-pleasers etc. As the bus driver gave them their 5-minute to departure call. It turned into a scene from 'dusk till dawn ' several of the party started to undress and join us on stage. It was shocking and not in a good way. Their bits were dragging on the floor and flapping about. I remember a few kept shouting "It's just a laugh" The most Spinal Tap moment I've ever experienced

It's a shame your drummer won't completely leap to 15" Speakers. I use RCF 15's more than capable which means we are full IEM. Would there be any mileage in having a small desk for yourself between you and your amp? You could take a signal from your thru output if it has one. IEM units have 2 channels you could set up the mixer by taking the guitar and bass through your mixer. Take a signal from the aux on the mixer to one channel of the IEM unit and a signal from a small desk to the other channel and set your mix?. I think it should work in principle?
