1. All good stuff, thank you all. So am I right in thinking I don't need to supply a bass (other than for my own use) ? Les
2. Been asked to be the bassist at a jam night starting soon. It's local enough for me to walk and I quite fancy the sound of it. Trouble is I've never even been to one What would I be expected to do/provide ? Ta Les
3. At the beginning of this year I was in 3 and had a lot of gigs in the diary. It didn't work out, mainly because what was agreed by all parties eventually ended up being stretched to fit circumstances and no matter how good I was at diary keeping dates got moved and then clashed.
4. Squire P, Ashdown combo, lead and strap thrown in with P Bass
5. play it, enjoy it, spend the rest of your life doing again and again.
6. quick head count before I voted and I realised I have more guitars than basses
7.
The less leads laying about on the floor the better. Blue
This, we are all wireless now and it is neater with no pirouettes to untangle yourself when you've been wandering about
8. I'm loving mine. Do you guys use the cable that came with the unit or have you changed it ? If so to what ? ta Les
9.
What are your thoughts on the V2's? I had a pair fail on me almost immediately and the second pair didn't last much longer. Sounded alright but not as good as the V1's! I think they've got the sound of the V1's with the V3's and they've sorted the reliability too.
No real frame of reference I'm afraid as never tried the others. I like the sound and the portability and we got them second hand with fitted covers and stands for 400 quid so all in all quite pleased. Les
10. We use the Mackie speakers but the V2's and a Mackie FX desk. Go for it, it's great, although we use 2 peavy powered subs as well.
11. What a great opportunity if you've never gigged before. Defo get the set list and try and pick a couple they do that you're comfortable with. If they learn a couple for the night for you there may be a slight gaff from one of them as it's a new number. This won't phase a competent gigging band in the least and it'll be pulled back on track in a heartbeat but it may throw you and leave you "staring into the headlights". Doing a couple of their regulars will be slick and oiled up. Good luck and do let us know how it goes. Les
12. Work occasionally through two. They're another tool, If they get you the odd gig or fill a last minute hole in the diary then as long as your not being asked to jump through loads of hoops what's not to like ?
13. Yes, a dep should be paid but
I have a feeling that the band see me more as the regular than the dep as by the end of this year I will have played more gigs with them than their regular.
doesn't seem like your normal hired gun situation. Maybe you're more a part of the band than you think and that's why they feel they can ask you to do this. As was said above I wouldn't have the balls to ask a "dep" to it Les
14. Got mine today. Very pleased Only played it in the garden, the bathroom, the drive and the street but it looks like it's going to be a great bit of kit. Can't wait to gig with it on Saturday. I'm assuming these things work ok from the ladies toilet ? Les
15. Got it, It's great. And it's tiny too.
16.
Am I right in thinking a Saturday night is the way forward?
Wouldn't that rule quite a few of us out cos' of gigging commitments ? Happy to pay upfront to take the risk out of it for the organiser Les
17. Just ordered mine from Andertons
18. Phil Starr and I were obviously separated at birth. He's just written the post I was putting together in my head. Les
