1. Getting your money back might prove as complicated as getting your order. If you live in London, it might be worth going into the shop.
2. The Funk

*edit*

Doesn't sound like a bring problem. Get the guy to take it to a respectable tech and get it checked out. Could just need a rebias and new fuse.
3. Oh yeah. Are you going to be playing on your own or with the rest of the band?
4. Blue Monk - Thelonius Monk All Blues - Miles Davis Not very complicated but a great chance to show how you handle the basics. They'll probably want to hear you on something other than just blues changes though, so something else with II-V-I changes too.
5. London bassist - intrigued by the BFM cabs! Any London/Home Counties BFM users around?
6. You're always going to get people talking with great conviction on subjects they know nothing about.
7. Hah! I didn't realise that. It must be deliberate then. The trio was a bit like a Police clone - just nowhere near as good. His son is a good player and singer though. And his dives off his SWR cabs were pretty cool, even if I am just being shallow.
8. Yeah, I'll give it a go next session. Could sound interesting! It could become a fail-safe option (as long as my power amp doesn't die on me) - you can run it on phantom power from a desk.
9. It sounds like the most sensible thing would have been to buy the cab from SHX and the other bits directly from Schroeder. I think the context here was really important. Was there any exchange of correspondence after the second round of emails or did it make its way directly onto here?
10. Some shops (including GAK - I think) offer student discounts. Definitely look into that!
11. We were miles from the stage - could barely make out the images on the giant screens. Couldn't really hear any detail either. Apart from that, it was a great gig. It shames me to say it but Sting was awesome as a frontman. Copeland and Summers were both very good too. Just would have been nice if we could hear some of the intricate stuff they were doing. Skipped Maximo Park. Caught the second half of Fiction Plane - Sting's son definitely has it. He's too much a clone of his dad though (without the writing skills) and the rest of Fiction Plane are rubbish. He's not a good enough musician to carry the other two. He should find some better musicians and actually try experimenting a bit instead of just doing it how his dad showed him.
12. The Eden WT1550 is not actually a valve power amp. It's a power amp with a preamp valve in the input stage, then it's just a normal SS power amp. That didn't stop me GASing for one and almost buying one from Andertons. I think they still have it on sale, heavily discounted.
13. It seems like the journalist cleverly subverted the article they were told to write: look at the Al di Meola quote at the end.
14. My maroon trilby and black sunglasses. I thought it might look over-the-top but I've only had good comments. I need to sort out the rest of my wardrobe to go with it though. We don't really have any unifying theme or look as a band. Trying to figure it out at the moment.
15. I think it might be time to just sue them. They don't seem interested in anything else.
16. How much did it sell for in the end, just out of interest?
17. Well, if the crossover on your Peavey combo has a Lo output, you could run that into your Trace Elliott cab. The thing is you'd need to amplify that signal with a power amp in between the Lo output and the Trace Elliott cab. A power amp is a dedicated unit which is basically the second half of a normal amp. You don't really need to know how it work, just that you'd need one between the Lo crossover output and the TE cab. If you did it that way, your Peavey amp wouldn't clip as the TE cab wouldn't be powered by it but by a seperate power amp.
18. Sent you a PM.
19. Can I just check I've got this right? Your rig consists of: 1. Peavey 1x15 bass combo 2. Johnson 2 x 12 guitar combo 3. Trace Elliott 1x18 + 1x10 cab Bloody hell. You could get a power amp and run the lows out of the low crossover output on your Peavey combo to your Trace Elliott cab. That could sound interesting.
20. I'm not going to answer that question. Spectrum is a great album though. I'm trying to figure out which of my 'friends' has nicked my copy.
21. *Lurking with interest*
22.
Amen brother! seriously, he means it. and i second it a great modern one to do is Beyonce - Work it out. We do it in a 3 piece (bass, drums, guitar), and it works great!
I do believe Work It Out is a cover. I heard a different, older-sounding version somewhere once. I'll look it up. EDIT: Looks like I might have heard a later, more retro, less MIDI cover of it.
23. In answer to your question, OG, your friend's right. Very good point. in answer to misrule's question, it just means it won't be used as evidence on deciding liability but it could be used as evidence when deciding the issue of costs.
