Although I will say - it’s been a few years since I’ve had a “vintage” bass - forgot the smell, the old bass smell.

After 23 years of messing about on bass, And owning probably close to 500 basses...I’m slowly realising that I’m a Precision (well, P/J) kind of guy. I started with a Kay Precision copy, got a Yamaha BB300 (a P type) and a Washburn XB-100...in quick succession. This came up for sale @bouvier was an absolute gent to deal with which made the money evaporate from my wallet. I’d been looking at a mates 68/69 and paid particular interest to having a TV logo burst bass with a tort guard. I have sourced a 1966 tort pickguard...god knows how, But also a limelight reissue as a “just in case”. it’s a shade under 9lbs, feels great - going to do a little infill on a chip in the neck lacquer because while it’s not bad - it’s a niggle. but for 45 years old ish - it’s a great player, warm, round - and not a huge neck. Played well out of the case - I’ve lowered the action a spot, just because I’m an incredibly lazy bass player. I’d promised the Flatwounds to @bassfan but even though I “absolutely hate rotosound flats” - these are played in and just right. The Limelight guard isn’t quite right and the screw holes don’t align perfectly - with it being an older bass, I don’t want to drill holes...

Well, I’ve never quite had a bass packed up like this before. There was enough for 4 basses in the boxes (yes plural) he packed my new (to me) 1970’s Fender in. Throughout the process Patrick was an absolute gent and I’m very pleased I went with his particular bass. Deal with confidence - the man is a hero. Cheers Andy

Well...the one collected on Monday arrived today. So small mercies. Hopefully the other two booked on the same day will actually be collected today.

It’s not that Ped, they’re seemingly operating as normal - they collected one bass when they should’ve collected 2. And not collected a third at all. the reason being they can’t read post codes if there’s not a gap BB129FU isn’t ok and BB12 9FU is. It then took them 2 days to sort it. They announced this issue on the due date for collection, not at the time I booked it 3 days before, nor at the time they confirmed they’d allocated a courier and the collection date. Tgey take that long to rectify it, it means next day rescheduling cannot happen. They Did the same routine on a bass I’m having collected from a fellow bass chatter - confirmation etc, then said DPD couldn’t collect because the address provided was wrong... It wasn’t wrong. There wasn’t a gap in the postcode. Anyhow - just a whinge - obviously bigger issues at hand and nowhere else to be. I just feel I’ve let two buyers down - and frustrated for my own purchase.

Yeah. I normally use parcelforce through postage supermarket and have had zero Issues over about 100 sales. Have used these 3 times this week because they were bob on first time. All three have been ballsed up.

Was annoyed Peavey didn’t do a bass run of these based on the milestone or millennium ac Bxp

Well...1 business day...means not 1 business day. First impression of Eurosender was pretty positive. 2nd/3rd and 4th means I’ll most likely use someone else next time. Oh well.

Mine have both been rearranged for tomorrow. Pain in the backside. Oh well.

Oh for gods sake - just read about the gap/space in the postcode being an issue. Coing to stamp on my own toes. Still it’s a really poor excuse - an iPhone and mates android satnav/google maps can decipher a gapless postcode. the slow responses irk me too. oh well. Will all happen tomorrow now.
