  1. Changed the pickguard on mine...
  2. Well, a little half hour in the garden. It’s nice - ignore the Lawn...trying to let it recover after the kids slide was left on it. ”it’ll kill the grass that love, will look shite when we decide to move it...” ’no it won’t’ point proved - obviously it’s me who now has to sort...
  3. GO ON! sorry - that was a joke, and in hindsight, a crap one.
  4. Love the classic 50’s. I had a blonde one for years. Sold it to buy the sunburst. Didn’t happen for some reason.
  5. Thanks - just working on interface issues.
  6. I’m only getting to grips with it all and will be buying better gear for YouTubing soon. I actually only put stuff on to share on here rather than eating up storage. So at the minute it’s just noodling nonsense. I plan to improve my presentation soon. But here it is... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqh--n1-HJSkSTD9YLf5UkQ
  7. Will do tomorrow. Patience gone today
  8. Just a noodle. Done on GarageBand with a temperamental interface, some patience. All direct in, all GB loops. Nothing fancy.
  9. behold - a working version of the demo with the bass
  10. Serial is saying 75. I’m going with Old and smelly 😂
  11. Ignore this...link didn’t work.
  12. Could be just in the lacquer - with his blessing (and if you’ve got the tools/are confident enough to do so...) take the neck off and look at the inside of the neck pocket. If someone’s over tightened the screw nearest the crack - it can split the lacquer. It it’s in the wood it’s a luthier ‘glue and clamp’ job. if it’s just the lacquer, it’s a don’t bother unless you’re bothered, partial refinish... looks nice overall though
  13. Feeling like the wrist is getting better - played this for a bit, sore now. Can hear a couple of duffers in there timing wise - like the message from brain to hand is jumbled. Will medicate with some wine. And try again tomorrow. Hopefully ordering a new interface tonight so that annoying crackling will go.
  14. Also - for the people with itchy eyes over the “spare” hole - I’m in discussions with our very own Tim about some sort of “plug” which will not be a permanent attachment to Vintage bass nor vintage celluloid. 😉
  15. Bought a fender 1966 tort pickguard from Les - packed like a pro and great communication throughout. Found him to be a total gent and would recommend deals with him. Excellent. Andy
  16. I know it doesn’t take much 😉 No. A good friend has a 69 precision I absolutely love, absolutely cannot afford and he absolutely would not sell... the big TV logo P’s were seen with tort up until 1974... This pickguard “more red with an extra hole” is from 1966. It was on a 1966 P someone had made into a p/j. I’m debating the hole at the moment - it’s something I can happily live with...the bass isn’t some vault worthy new old stock. Although I have some tort offcuts if I can be bothered. The dark tort is a limelight reissue which doesn’t quite fit. And I’m not about to drill into the bass to make it fit...the 66 was perfect fit. The black guard is now in the case between two bits of ply to prevent warping. And it looks marvellous - I love old tort.
  17. Decision made. Unbelievable.
  18. Whoa! And that’s what I’d buy!
  19. @Duarte the Stingray EX (Japanese MM) are absolutely bonkers - really nice, I picked one up for @TheGreek about 2 years ago and was so so jealous. If you can find one, you’ll be chuffed - I can’t believe there’s not more of an import market going on for them.
  20. Hahah. We’ll wait until the 66 comes - although it’s with Hermes, so it could be next Christmas
  21. Will see how this 66 turns up - I will be keeping the black in the case if it’s good. The whole thing that set me off was a mates 69 precision...
  22. Yeah - it’s growing on me
  23. We’ll see when it gets here tomorrow - I will obviously post results
  24. Although I will say - it’s been a few years since I’ve had a “vintage” bass - forgot the smell, the old bass smell.
