  1. Crazy madam needs independence; when we started the process, they assured me and my scepticism that us both being workers would not be factored in… now either we were lied to, or they’ve taken so long over the process…that the goalposts have shifted… I think the application/process outcome should adhere to the rules/constraints at the time of the start of the application, not the rules by the time they’ve finished piddling about FOR FOUR YEARS - a point I have made very clear to the OT team and the Adaptation manager in a recent email. Anyhow…needs must.
  2. If it stays in the Basschat family…I’ll know where to go to get it back. Its a phenomenal instrument, probably the peak of Gibson’s bass efforts - unlike the RD with its innovative circuits…this is actually playable 😏
  3. This is a killer of a sale. 1. I’ve always wanted one of these; it lived up to expectations. 2. It’s a really good one - I’ve played a few to get to this one. 3. It’s something out of my control causing the sale; but it needs to be done. We were promised support 4 years ago with an extension for a wet room for Iris. After 48 months of back and forth; we’re not getting the support promised because we both work and earn. We’ll get less than half of what was promised - thing is, if we’d took a loan 4 years ago, we’d have paid it off by now, but because we’ve been told by adaptive living we’d get x amount, we’ve held out. I need to make a chunky contribution. This is my most expensive/valuable bass. Dont tell me I’ll regret it etc - I already know it. Anyhow - 1976, superb low action, only non original part is the nut - a Tusq replacement professionally fitted before my ownership. marks and dings…a few, but looks new from a short distance - not bad for 48 years old. The Gibson case was long gone before me. I’ve got a lovely Gibson bag for it. They do fit in the hiscox Teardrop if anyone’s upset - or there are 2 knackered Gibson ones on reverb for £350 ish 🙄 Shipping isn’t ideal - I’d rather not…but it can happen at risk/cost. weight is 10.5lbs - it’s wearing half wounds, and a spare set included. Manchester, M27 postcode, just off the motorway… I have entered a chat with Bass Bros - but would love this to stay within Basschat. I also haven’t listed this on reverb etc…yet.
  4. I’ve played this. Bloody ace bass - knowing Lee it’s probably been kept in a wonderfully humidified and polished environment; his string bill is almost as big as my mortgage payments. great bass, great guy - as if you need a reason to buy 🤪
  5. Unfortunately, unlikely… House renovation means Ripper might be up for sale tonight 😢
  6. It’s on my watch list with very little intention…but the initial “OOOOH” was big
  7. love that - always tentatively “watch” them when they come up on eBay/reverb - never see the sunburst though…nice
  8. We’ve done 7 or 8 this year - well, since June; our drummer quit in May…so that’s not bad. What’s frustrated me is that 6 of those were back to back Friday and Saturday shows - which, if you’re a covers band is great news… As a relatively new Originals band…not so much. But, we’ve played to 8/9 people at one and 200 the next night so god knows…
  9. Bump. Time for this to go - committed to other gear so need to clear the decks
  10. Bought on a whim, always liked them - plays great, sounded lovely…then when I’d cleaned it and restrung it (Ernie ball hyper slinkies) no signal. So I cleaned all the pots - nothing. desoldered all the joints - nothing. there is signal from the pickups - I think the tone pot was dead… so an entire brand new wiring loom will be fitted before I sell. Other than that - it’s bloody lovely. And initially had a very 70’s jazz type sound. i have now got embroiled in another bass which I’d sort of agreed to last month and forgotten about. can ship in UK for £15. Collection is free, obviously. EDIT - Now sorted, new loom fitted

  11. Bought as part of a package with another instrument I wanted - thought my daughter would prefer the nylon strings but she’s too used to steel strings to get on with it - I’m a bass player and while it’s lovely (was genuinely surprised by the sound it produces) it’s only going to gather dust now. The original machineheads were non functional so I’ve put some new ones on which seem really solid, as well as a new set of d’addario strings. Had a clean up, fret polish etc so it’s good to go. No case - will Chuck in a clip on tuner as I seem to have amassed a few of these (may need a battery). Marlin, 1980’s - £50 Got embroiled in another bass deal…so this has to go. Can ship in uk for £15 ish - would be at risk of buyer.
  12. When I was a 14 year old, gathering the proceeds of Car washing, paper round and the sale of a PlayStation… I went to sound control and bought an American Jazz Bass - the other choice was a purple precision with a maple board just like this… Unfortunately, my current car wash, PlayStation and Paper round fund sits at £0 as I have my own teenagers who won’t wash cars or get paper rounds 🤬
  13. No. I think cheap bass trying to look expensive. not horrific. possible own brand, like Carlos robelli type stuff in US?
  14. Aww balls. Sold a very similar one a while back and then regretted doing so. My bank says “no” so I’m now going to be annoyed for a bit.
  15. Not last night - Saturday weird one - but got to see @Dankology and his ace band Dead Tenant We had a mix of our punters and some of the regulars of the venue… We got paid, played well…bit of a weirdness with the venue owner (put it this way, we got a 3 text apology) but not bad.
  16. I use 2 of these cabs with an old Hartke 5500, honestly a flawless rig (well, the head is a bit tatty like…) Cannot fault the cabs at all.
  17. It looks really bloody cool. But the price is stoooopid.
  18. Im In after missing last month. And…I’ve embedded it…so NER Epi Jack Casady and othe Yamaha guitars.
  19. I’ll happily fund that change by buying your white one 😬
  20. I can live with that. says 14/10/24 on eBay
  21. It had 3 “drinks” looks ace now
  22. Need Earlpilanz to come back on eBay. Nowhere does the Masonite pickguards…so I’m going to go single ply Matte white.
  23. Loved these - they were a bit out of my price range in the late 90’s…a Washburn XB100 was my “posh bass” (how little I knew). Anyhow. 10 years ago - had a black one. Sold it because it wasn’t a silver sparkly one. And after missing out on 2 over the last decade… In need of a new pickguard really…but it’s functional…for now
