I enjoyed that project, used it for 3 gigs with a soul singer. It was a gear4music jobbie. Had a mate who worked in their stockroom. it had a faulty machine head and was returned: I paid £60 for it, £10 for the wood and glue, a machine head was in my parts draw. I sold it for £150, with a clean conscience - was a great bass, plugged in was warm and clear - and the volume was acceptable for unplugged practice.

I heard that, Luther Vandross did the same for his albums. I have to admit I stole the batteries out of Marcus’ alarm clock that time...

Yes he did ”that my cocker is f*ckin bangin - nice one lad!” the next day, Zawinul calls him - the rest is history...

I really like that super light...still miss that double bass option. I had an old Zeller which was killed by a clumsy singer.

So. I said I’d only seen one other for sale - in Russia too. I haven’t - it’s the same bass. See the wood grain... This is the slightly “grr” bit. The ‘first’ one I saw had a bit of a chip. Not a bother to me - I’m a bit handy with this kind of thing. Well, the place I’ve got it from have Infilled the chip...looks like a crappy job. Anyhow, if it plays and sounds right, I’ll sort the damage properly. I’ve included my “proper” job on a Washburn. I can probably salvage this one.

I think some are and some aren’t. Easy to see why people struggle to identify fakes.

Most fulfilling is this one...been a really long journey. Hope it lives up to a 20 year wait. Best has been the Sadowsky HPJ. Just feels better than any other bass I’ve owned - and can cover everything. Worst...gawd, erm. I’ve wasted swathes of money this year on gear - boredom has had a huge part to play in it.

No skunk stripe (just seen the rear of the neck) so it’s right. The Roger Waters sig is the same
