Yeah, looks like I might have to bite the bullet and spend as much on the machineheads as I did the bass. In no rush though - going to take a couple of months this at least. And I woke up this morning to find I’d won a bass on eBay which I don’t want, or need 🥴

Argh! Gold neck plate required too - debating pickup screws, currently black. So, that works.

Eventually it will get a paint job fit for a...Prince? In my head - I took visual inspiration from the bb5000a I saw years ago. I started buying Gold Hardware - Gotoh mostly. Still to buy Machineheads and I’ve realised I’ll need a jack socket cover in gold. Really briefly - Body and neck have arrived at appropriate destinations and work will be a steady process - mostly due to budget constraints. so here’s the inspiration here’s the bass as I bought it...

Has anyone got a bb425x/1025x/2025x pickguard spare, or can lend me one for a template? Or draw around theirs accurately for a template? Thanks

Well...we’ll see, I’ve messaged Sontec who were the spares company Yamaha directed me to when I was looking for a pickguard. I reckon it will be a “no” - last time I messaged them, there were still new 1024/2024’s in shops. So it’s a good few years ago.

I’ve just messaged a Yamaha spares supplier to see if the bb1024 pickups are still available.

So you could do PRS hard mask, or ESP style angular. Id mask where the heel is and use that inherent “shoulder” as the stop point. I tried a quick phone mess to illustrate

You have to consider what goes with the red inlays. Orange will clash. metallic silver?

Green needs to stay. Black one...make it lime green
