Just a general discussion... I have a bass Ive taken the paint off. Looking for suggestions on what could look well with the gold hardware. I was thinking Metallic Purple, Or Dark Metallic Green. Open to suggestions - pictures welcome...

For Metallics, pastels and Bursts I’d use Dave. For Sparkles (big flake) Id use Sims - Dave does big metallic but not Flea flake type stuff.

It has the sweepable mid? Ive always known it to be referred to as the ne-1 preamp. They sound great for the money they go for, even if if they were 3 times the price they’re good.

Bah - no dice today. Up until the left hand side of the body, the grain was nearly uniform enough for a natural finish

Bought this on a whim. I’m going to clean it all up and tweak it - also will be wearing some better strings. the good... It’s a decent looking bass, Korean made - early 2000’s. It’s got a 35” scale - decent B. Emg HZ pickups. Nice Neck Profile. Great colour. East Preamp (U-Retro 2006) - read on... Passive tone is pleasant. The bad... Full disclosure. Preamp does not work. Worst case - the east knobs look fab. John East thinks it could be down to battery leads - I would look into it but...read on. Lots of little bumps and nicks - nothing catastrophic. Has an “odd” tuner on treble side - I might have a matching one in a draw - I will update. Bridge has a little “lift” at the string anchor points...but I’ve seen this on plenty of basses. Maybe 0.5mm at worst. I spoke to Kiogon who can make a passive loom for £60 based upon Les Paul VVTT with a series/parallel and pickup selector to fill the switch holes - just an idea if the Pre is totally dead. Anyhow - it’s here if anyone fancies a project. If you can resolve the preamp issue - it’s a £200+ pre. If you’re looking for a workhorse 5, here it is. Postage possible...would prefer collection. I will do all the muck removal tonight or tomorrow. I wanted to have this for e-c tuning, but I have an ongoing BB project and no spare time. 😉😘

I didn’t in the end - I’ve a 350f I’m modifying. The 450 is basically a passive 1100s - which is no bad thing. If you fall out with it - I’ll make room. 😉
