Bass snobs with a grand plus basses will always look down there noses at Squiers, but its horses for courses and for the money they are hard to beat.
I've never understood that attitude. Squires are generally a good buy, and if you are on a budget then you are getting a lot of bass for your money. Some of it is all down to how much you are willing to pay but I don't think you can rank them easily
2. Been pondering this one again, and for me the person who encapsulates what a bass player should be is John Entwhistle. Doesn't prance around and let his fingers do the working.
3. +1 for the gold jazz. Does it come with a matching suit ?
4.
U2
5. Picked up BP in Smiths the other day and thought someone had pinched half the pages or that it was an advertising pamphlet. It's a lot of cash for not a lot of substance IMO. BGM it's alright.
6.
Is McCartney great? He's popular but are they the same thing? Is Jilly Cooper a great author? Is Pam Ayres a great poet? Discuss. PS - if anyone here is considering taking me seriously, please don't.
McCartney great? Don't know, I said he was much heralded by some Jilly Cooper writes that's all I'll say on that. And my mum likes Pam Ayres so I'll leave that one alone as well. All I can say is that I like the carrots.
7. Most of us don't know how to read music because it takes too long. Especially when your crappy job, diy, kids and all those other responsibilities get in the way. Like many others, and as Wii wrote, for me music is a hobby. In my case I don't want to feel I have to learn to read music because that becomes a chore. And then there is the simple case that many of us don't need to read music, personally I'd rather learn more theory. Then there's also the fact that some of the much heralded players can't read music either. Are we going to tell Sir Paul Macartney and Mark King they are lightweights because they can't read music? Dare you!
Oh dear, he we go again with the 'you cant be a great player if you dont read' argument. Close the thread right now and save everyone the time and effort......
+1
8. Loved it. The man just accentuates cool. +1 git
9. I tend not to take anything apart so afraid am not much help with that. Just wanted to add that the finish you want looks great. I really like translucent paint effects.
10. Definitely not me. My passport has run out so I can't leave Devon, and I haven't had my vaccinations. Oh, and I'm not in a band at the moment.
11. Cheers.
12.
Check out Sheehan's boots, immense! What's the point of having a double neck with two necks exactly the same though? Am I missing something, or is it just for showmanship?
I was thinking exactly the same thing.
13. I've been trawling through google trying to find an Ibanez parts dealer but have had no luck. Anyone got any suggestions?
14. I've obviously got a lot to learn. Always tended to just listen to what sounds good with any given chord - probably need to do a bit more work!
15. Two of my best friends were learning to play guitar. Then we all decided to form a band and I was left with either drums or bass (I don't sing, on principle). So it was bass for two reasons 1. I didn't have anywhere to put a drum kit. 2. I wanted to be a musician! (how pretentious).
16.
+1 Rounds. If I wanted my bass to sound like a bass, I'd take lessons.
Rounds. I need lessons!
17.
how many dancing typists do you know ?
uh none.
18. That's put a whole new slant on things. He's certainly no John Entwistle
19. Go for the spector. Yamaha second.
20. Played through the Line 6 in a store the other day, very impressed.
21. Even if you don't play a Fender (like me) you have to acknowledge that without the man things just wouldn't be the same. Full respect to Leo Fender.
22.
Before: After: Before: After: The sign of a true genius. Do you do commissions?

25. Saw them twice in the early 90's. Once at Milton Keynes Bowl then at Wembley Stadium. Never really into them but they were bloody good live. Better than some more established acts!
