1. Just not sure about those older bridges man. These look great though, apart from that.
2.
I had a Squier Vintage Modified P with an out of alignment pup. Poor QC? Didn't appear to make a lot of difference to the sound, just a little irritating. I've been looking at the MP Jazz in trans black. Worth the £400?
Ooo I've been checking those out too, looks right up my alley. These tele's look the part though, waiting for pics!
3. These seem curvier than they were before. Was so impressed with the older model, will have tlook these out, very tempting.
4. What about Fender's Modern Player basses? I've been looking at the Jazz, seems pretty decent, Fender name with nice choice of finishes, double the pickups, and all for £400. Not much more than a Classic Vibe!
5. Shambo most smokers honestly have no idea how bad the smell is to non-smokers. My family run a pub, I lived there for a while before the smoking ban, now this is obviously an extreme example, but I still have stuff now that still smells of that smoke from 8-ish years ago, and I was only there about three months. Smoke just seems to 'get into stuff' and the smell can be pretty gnarly to non-smokers, stale and kinda dirty. Like I said earlier in the thread, personally I've only ever played one smoke-damaged bass, and I could barely stand to be near the thing, let alone have it on my lap with my hands running all over it, it just felt spoiled and soiled. No idea how much smoke it took to get into that state, and for how long, but even so, I can easily see how instruments coming from a 'smoke-free home' could be important to people.
6. That is one pretty convincing video. My little big muff just doesn't feel right...
7. Man, that Jack Bruce is something else... I love my little Rock Bass, feels like butter in my hands, keep meaning to get with one of it's bigger sisters at some point, but these prices, Hell's Bells. I'm with jackers; I'd go to the Fender Custom Shop and put the rest towards a new rig!
8. I played a 5 string Ric once, second hand. Real interesting thing to play, but God damn, it totally reeked of ancient stinky stale smoke ingrained right through the entire thing. Could never own a bass like that, felt nasty to hold.
9. Thought Dave Swift's bass looked and sounded fantastic last night, interesting variation on a classic design, would love to try one!
10.
No contest. Steve Harris P
+1 Want one so bad.
11. Looks stunning dude, totally love the colour, would happily own one like that.
12. Love the look of that tele, seriously, need to test drive one of those. Bet it looks gorgeous with the PG removed!
13.
TC were foolish - they could have called the thing the RH450 and given its RMS power rating elsewhere. I think there has been a hysterical overreaction on TB by some members, saying that they will now sell their RH450s and 750s even though they love them because TC used misleading figures.
I think TC have been a touch underhand but I'll shamelessly take advantage of anyone who wants shot pronto - I still think the amps look (and more imprtant sound) amazing with a sweet feature set to boot.
14. Interesting thread, I have a passive Rockbass Corvette. Love playing the thing, but yeah, tone control seems to do very little - how do you tell if it has a preamp? I assumed that passive basses had no preamp, correct? Or no? Confused...
15. Now that is stunning, still partial to the CAR too!
16. Still not seen the cobalt blue - Fender's own website still doesn't have a picture!
17. Andertons are pretty cool! http://www.andertons.co.uk/
18. Don't mind where a bass comes from but would have different price expectations based on labour costs. I would love to have a UK hand-built bass one day, and yeah, an American Fender 'just because'.
19. Stunning bass, congrats, going to have to try one soon...
20. Post some pics dude, those are great basses!
21. I have crazy, crazy GAS for the Vintage ICON VJ96. See if you can find one of those, then post some impressions, I've not found one locally!

NBD!

Aye Coda is fantastic, bought my little amp from the Luton store and have gazed longingly at the basses in Stevenage a couple of times. One time I played a bunch for about an hour. They are always really helpful with questions. Come to think of it, bought my very first electric guitar from them second hand donkeys years ago too, forgot about that. Can't wait until the day I can wander in there and leave with something crazy shiny, congrats on the new bass.
23. Oh my, they do look nice. Really want to see the CAR and cobalt blue versions. I just love CAR man.
24.
On a different note I also tried one of the new jags, and that has got me really GASing!
One of the Squiers? Which one, what did you think?

Lovely, are my eyes deceiving me or is that a tinted metal pickguard? Is that CAR finish? Not some folks' cuppa but one of my faves, dude.
