1. I love Mr. Jenkinsons' production wizardry but as a purely solo performer? I still need to be convinced as to his song writing capabilities.
2.
There appears to be a new live album out dated 2009: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Live-Erykah-Badu/d...R2VQ/ref=sr_1_4
Thanks for the heads up on this Molan. It appears to be an 'official' bootleg. I just downloaded it and the first nine tracks are taken from the Vh1 special I linked to above. Two tracks are taken from the official Baduism Live album with the final tracks taken from another unknown concert. The recording quality on the first nine tracks is perfect and the band are on fire . Highly recommended just for these tracks alone! Jay.
3.
I really like the old live album from about 10 years ago with the, wonderfully named, Hubert Eaves IV on bass I like her version of Stay (Chaka Khan song) from this album. Edit - just checked Hubert Eaves IV & discovered there's a Hubert Eaves II & III who are all musicians as well
I always wondered who the bass player was on that record. Absolute groove monster and my favourite album of hers. Her studio efforts never seem to reach the heights of her live stuff. More due to the tendency of neo-soul producers to opt for the clean electronic sound rather than her I think; oh well Solid playing here- Jay
4.
I could use something with a sweepable mid, like a "Pre-shape" that Trace Elliot do but now everyone installs them (Peavey with "Contour" and Markbass with "VPF"). So if you could suggest something I could use with Parametric EQ and sweepable mid that'd be cool. What's the model you use you are on about?
Well besides the ne-1 I've listed here, I'm not aware of any other external parametric eq devices. But having a sweepable mid control where you can select what frequency you wish to cut or boost is just as good as fully parametric eq. The EBS microbass II is something I'd highly recommend if you wanted greater control over how you shape your sound. Also, it acts as a line select, excellent D.I. and a few other things. Unfortunately, you pay for all these features I noticed a few in the for sale section recently. I seriously regret selling mine!
5. It's a great bit of kit if your amp is indeed minus a semi-para. mid control. It's a real shame that Yamaha stopped production a while ago. I guess most people didn't know what it did or rather never saw a use for it. I had an Ebs outboard pre with a sweepable mid control and now a Genz Benz head with the same. It's a really useful control to have. Also, this is sold to the gent from the continent
6. I 'd definitely suggest playing with the controls on the pedal as well as the on-board eq. and see if that makes a difference. There's no reason why it being a fretless should make much a diference. As someone suggested, it may be the output of the bass which is causing trouble. Although the new Mxr pedal sounds pretty damn good here-
7.
Hi, the post is some while ago, but is the device still available? Regards, Sebasstian
Hi, Actually, yes this is still available. I had decided to keep it for those 'just in case' moments but it hasn't seen the light of day since posting the ad. Shoot me a Pm if you're interested. Jay.
8. Is this still available and would you be willing to ship to Ireland? Jay
9. Has Jesso taken this, or is it still for sale?
10.
I still have one of these. Trade for good, light, small 8-0hm or sell for £295. Thanks Steve
I take it that the wizzy is 4ohms, right?
11. Fantastic basses these. Outshines the warwicks in my opinion. Have a bump Mick
12. That's a tasty bit of chestnut. Is it 33" scale per chance?
13.
Hi Guys! Thanks for comments, greatly appreciated! jerzy
Hi Jerzy, Great to see you here. Always a privilege to have a world class luthier around these forums. Jay.
14. Thought this may be of interest. Jerzy's take on the single-cut design. He's currently running a competition for the naming of the new design with the prize being the prototype. It might not be my cup of tea but if he's giving it away..... Details here- http://www.jerzydrozdbasses.com/
15. I've decided that a five string is what I really want so this is still available for sale. I'd still welcome any five string trades of course. Also, some part exchanges+cash my way would work.
16. Possibly two of the nicest basses I've ever seen. Jay.
17. I'd also be interested in fretless fives. Anyone with pedulla pentabuzz collecting dust?
18.
That bass looks great, and due to the gloss finish I’m almost certain those marks can be completely polished out by a French Polisher to make it look as good as new. Good luck with the sale
My thoughts exactly . The scratches haven't penetrated the finish so can be buffed out with minimal cost.
19. Sterling must have gained a little ground against the Euro, as 1750euro now equates to £1,555 GBP. A difference of £85 to the price I quoted on March 29th! If anyone is thinking of a cash offer, put 1750euro into the currency converter at http://www.xe.com and see what the current rate is. Jay.
20.
That sir, is a fine bass guitar.
Why thank you, it's a bit of a looker alright. Weekend bump. Plenty of trade offers but all have been with a 35" scale. Are there any 34"ers out there!? Jay.
21. Great basses these and I bet it sounds awesome with the ACG pre!
