1. Gorgeous bass and the same spec as my soon to be commissioned ACG. How are you finding the set neck design compared to the usual neck-through or bolt-on?
 2. Hey Ziggy, I decided to reply to your comment here rather than in your 'items wanted' topic. I agree with most folk on here about getting a custom bass made if you have specific requirements that you simply can't get on a stock bass. I'm in a similar predicament as you as I've owned a lot of basses in the last few years all which I've loved and were adequate but have fallen short in what I'd like in terms of playability and sound. Also, the more basses I've owned and more my playing has developed in a certain direction, it has become much clearer as to what I want in an instrument. Which is why I've decided to have Alan of ACG build me a custom. The Sei jazz that you played in the Gallery is an amazing instrument (sorely tempted myself) and my current Sei is perfect but it's missing a string. I'd highly rate the Sei jazz and you seem to like it so I'd say go for it. Little sense in paying for a custom that will be very similar to one you could pick-up for a fraction of the price second-hand. Also, with the way the second-hand market is going, you can get some fantastic basses for silly money. But if it is a custom you're after, then give Alan or Jon Shuker a shout. All the best, Jay
 3. Thanks for the info Phil. An inch too long for my ickle hands I'm afraid. Good luck with the sale.
 4. Hi Phil, Whats the string spacing and scale length on this? Jay.
 5. That is a wonderful piece of buckeye. Good luck with the sale and have a bump for a fellow Sei owner/seller

 8. I've been lusting after one of these for ages. Very nice J-style basses. It looks like it has Duncan pups but what kind of pre; Aggie?
 9.
No problem for using the pics, good luck with the sale! Dirk
Cheers Dirk
 10.
Please... DELETE this thread and stop tempting me!!!!!!!!!!
Go on Stuart, y'know you want it . I could be persuaded to take one hundred and fifty copies of all five volumes of the Level 42 books. You can never have too many copies; they've been an essential resource for ages Jay.
 11. In terms of part exchanges, I'd happily take a jazz style bass+cash smile.gif Jay
 12. That grain pattern is exquisite. And nothing wrong with your photography skills Loz! If I can shift my Sei bass, I might be severely tempted Oh the gas.
 13. Good stuff Loz. Can't wait to see the pics. Afzelia can be pretty striking when you get the right example.
 14. Was this the one that happened to be on Ebay a while back? I remember asking the seller to send me high res close ups. The bass looked absolutely factory fresh. This is a great price too! The one Warwick model I haven't owned yet.......
 15.
Thanks to everyone - especially jmanfunk for the diagram - I'm glad I didn't carry on trying to work out the combinations for myself!! jman, do the outlined ones have any special significance, or are they just a good place to start? and it's interesting that there are gaps between 160hz-220hz and 4k-6k - just a factor of the circuit maybe? BB2000, sorry you had a bad experience, i did read of some neck problems - stangely more with the carbon necks it seems!? The one i'm looking at is all wood and is a few years old, so any problems should have come out by now. It's also got a lovely growl - almost as good as my old Warwick - and that's saying something!
Yap, the highlighted frequencies seem to be recommended settings. When I intially started messing around with it, I just checked out the frequency settings on other well known pres like Sadowsky and worked off those. In the end I just went for what worked with my particular instrument. It's great fun working through various settings but then again I'm a nerd when it comes to that kind of stuff. One word of advice is to have a pen and paper at the ready and take note of the current settings just in case
 16. Hello guys and gals, I had originally offered this up for trade a few months back but after a lot a deliberation, I've decided to just opt for a full on custom jobbie so I'm selling this outright. £1500 for this lovely which is in immaculate condition save for some light crazing at the bottom edge, as evidenced in the bottom pic, which I've been informed can be buffed out at minimal cost. I realise in the current climate that high end stuff isn't shifting that quickly so I will happily entertain part exchange offers. Let me know what you have! I'm based in North London so if anyone in the area fancies trying it out you're more than welcome. I can also ship this in a heavy duty Warwick flight case for an extra £60 incl. postage; the case is pretty heavy! Specs:

Mahogany wings
ebony fret board
7 piece laminate neck of ebony and flamed maple
Burled maple front and rear facing with amber tint
Bartolini pups and Schack pre
gold hardware
Green side leds
control compartment with matching wood facing
Pics- Plenty more pics on request. (Hope you don't mind me re-using the pics Dirk. Sun is very much lacking around here a the moment) *SOLD* Jay
 17.
Beat me to it. I have several of these diagrams somewhere in the garage from old Schack and SEIs.
Think that was the first time I've managed to be a benefit rather than a hinderance on this forum
 18. I have a Schack in my Sei bass and they're a great pre. The dip switches allow you set the frequency centre for bass, mid and treble separately which you can then cut or boost at your leisure using the tone controls on the bass. The frequency range is bass-100-300hz, mid-500hz-1.5k and treble-2k-8k And the all important diagram which tells you the settings for each frequency centre-
 19.
Yessss..... I know
You could always bring it to a reputable luthier and have frets installed. That should run in the region of a £130. It would be a damn site cheaper than getting a graphite replacement. Having said that though, graphite necks are brilliant; had a Status Energy for a while and loved it!
 20.
12th fret to back edge of pickup=37.5cms - that's from a real 1962 Jazz.
Bassdoc, you're a legend! Cheers for that. Anyone else, feel free to confirm this
 21. Alright guys, I'm having a custom bass made for me by ACG guitars. It's going to be a single pick-up bass and I want to position the pick-up so when I split the coil, the rear coil that is active is in the 60's jazz position. So I need measurements for the pup placement and if someone could be so kind as to measure the distance from the twelfth fret to the edge of the back of the pick-up, I 'd be eternally grateful! This is for those jazz bass with a 60's pick-up position obviously. As far as I know the current U.S. series and any 60's reissue as well as Lakland would be perfect. I'm not sure where Sadowsky or some of the other well known manufacturers place their pups. Thanks in advance for the help. Jay
 22. I also had a bolt version of this not so long ago. Fantastic basses!
 23. I'm moving to London in September. Typical!
