1. Open to trades for a Mark bass/ Genz Benz head or preferably a combo.
 2.
nice idea, but i can see one drawback- having the pickups joined together like that might affect how they adjust, unless the wood plate between them is flexible. eg. you wouldn't be able to lower the bridge pickup on the bass side without lowering the neck pickup too and vice versa.
Huh, I never thought of that It still looks nice despite its impracticality.
 3. I noticed this on the Windmill website. A nifty little design; you specify the dimensions and they'll craft one to fit on your existing bass. Its a little pricey for my tastes and I assume that they don't offer any other pick-up beside their own propietary design but I certainly will be taking this idea to my local luthier, Chris Larkin, and have them fashioned for a set of Nordstrand Fatsatcks; nice.
 4.
As to the Grainger 5 string above, I made enquiries about getting one. They wanted a deposit of $6k and the balance would be worked out after I had told them what I want. I may treat myself when I retire in 5 years time but thats a lot of money for a bass!
Yikes I dread to think what the end cost might have been! A Fodera might work out a little cheaper.
 5. I've played one of the earlier run passive basses and, like everyone else, found it muddy and ill-defined. It was beautifully constructed though and only let down by the proprietary pups. I heard that the latest run are being aimed at the more high-fidelity, modern bass player. Gary Grainger has also been involved in their design and his 'private stock model' looks the mutts. http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=CeLtNw-HTAQ Gary comes in at about 6.50 with some double thumbing.
 6. Bump for a great instrument
 7.
Janek's a member of these boards under the name gwizmon, he posted something similar the other day in this thread - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=27567&hl= +1 on his standard of musicianship, I'll be checking out a few of these recordings in the next couple of days!
Thanks for that Danny. I didn't even know he was a member of this forum. Definitely check out the recordings, particularly the 'trio sets'; really great stuff. Jay.
 8. Checked out the link and I just saw your second post. "fenders, Gibsons..." You been at the metz again Pav?
 9. I thought this might be of interest to a lot of you. Janek is offering a series of bootlegs on his website for a small charge. They're worth every penny; Janek's technical prowess, groove, melodic sense and most of all, his horn arrangements continue to astound me. And it's all captured in a truly energetic live setting. A definite must. And the recording quality for each set is pretty good! http://www.janekgwizdala.com/ Easy, Jay.
 10. You will seriously regret getting rid of this! I know I did when I sold my single cut Chris Larkin is an amazing luthier and all round nice chap. And thats a steal of a price too; sorely tempted myself. Where you based mate?
 11.
and I'm currently building the Rig of Doom V3 No photos yet - but expect multiple Mark Bass heads and cabs; Multiple Pre-amps (POD X3 pro); full wireless etc.
Never mind the large hadron collider at CERN. A rig like that could very well destroy the universe!
 12.
sounds great, looks great! Bargain for this money I'd say! I love that stevie wonder song btw
I'm really liking that Stevie song too. One of my all time fav basslines; Nathan Watts is amazing. That bass is a bit special too. Oh dear, not again....the GAS!
 13.
The sticker has been removed now!! There is a vol, tone and separate output jack for the Seymour QP - I run that into a second amp. It sounds lovely indeed. I am half-way tempted by getting this one though - I have 3 Energy basses - 1 fretted 4, 1 fretless 4, 1 fretted 5. All modded like the fretless. But I fancy a 4 that is tuned BEAD as well....
I bet that bi-amped signal sounds the mutts. Did you do the mods yourself? And a fat Low B would compliment your collection nicely indeed
 14.
[BUMP] I may consider a trade for another hi-end bass.
Anything in mind regarding trades? A warwick streamer stage one 5s is what I could offer should it tickle your fancy.
 15.
I did this to mine.... sort of... I asked Rob - he advised that to strip the lacquer, put a new board on, then re-lacquer it took ages and in fact would be about the same money as a new neck. So I got a new neck for it instead - it was £395 fitted. The neck neck also has a truss rod. (not that I needed one on the older one) It is now my fave bass.
A new neck would be my recommendation as well. Actually its giving me ideas Fretmeister, that p-pup is an ineresting mod too. I could do without the sticker though
 16.
are you sure?? im fairly confident its not just a treble control.... but then again im crazy
That makes two of us Kev. I had a look at the brochures over on Statii.com and it simply says "pick-up balance, master volume and tone control" The bass is still available by the way
 17.
Hey I was just wondering what the control configuration was, it's passive right?

this will be active, its master volume, volume pan between pickups, and a special tone shape knob if its anything like my wooden energy was
Kev is indeed right; it is active with a volume, blend and special tone shape (takes the edge off nicely) control layout.
 18.
Here's a full size pic of the bass (at least what I assume is this bass!)
Cheers Rusty, thats the very one. They were taken by the previous owner.
 19.
still waiting on those pics
Confounded weather has hampered my efforts. Its perpetual darkness down this way!
 20.
Have a Bump on me...A nice bass even if I do say so myself
Go raibh maith agat.
