1. Yep. Starting your own is the way to go. We could do with some more songwriting threads.
2. This thread is giving me the guilt. I realise now I have no motivation to play the thing outside of a band situation.
3. During a week? One 3 to 4 hour rehearsal. Maybe a 45-60 minute gig. Anything up to 10 minutes at home. If I'm song writing it goes up a lot though.
4. I like the finish. Reminds me of a python boot.
5. Zoom Q3 I'm really finding this very, very useful at rehearsals. Plus it's got acceptable video for sticking stuff up on youtube. Sound quality is excellent.
6. I use an RS210 with an RS112 underneath. If I'm honest I don't really need the 1x12. The RS210 is plenty. I play in a pretty noisy rock band.
7.
If it was that wrong to do people wouldn't come and see you, and there would be no market for it.
Like dog fighting If it gets people who wouldn't normally go to see bands used to the idea of going to music venues I'm all for it. They might turn up when we're playing by mistake one night.
8. Hmm. I quite like this. Apart from the rubbish Ikea knobs that is.
9. "Best of luck with your next band chaps. Let's have a beer soon. No hard feelings." Leans over and presses intercom button "Kill them...."
10.
I've got the ER20s. I can't tell the difference between them in or out other than the volume.
MAybe I just need to djust to the volume? I'm finding it very hard to get to grips with it.
11. Any tips on how to acliatise to playing with plugs? I'm sure the ER20's are up to the job. I just can't deal with the change in what I'm hearing. I guess the bits I listen out for with the drummer and the guitarist aren't as easy to pick up on as without plugs.
12. I'm really surprised Fender haven't cashed in on a greenburst signature. They're normally not shy of chasing a bit of easy lucre like this.
13. How cool does that look Nigel? I can even accept gold which I normally can't stand on this one. White basses are the way forward. Mine is due soon.
14. I have persisted and want to use ear plugs. I can't get along with them though. May playing goes all over the shop when I use them.
15. I recorded a couple of songs from the Members on the Zoom Q3 that I've had for a couple of months. Hand held and close up works so much better than setting it up on a tripod at the end of the room with this bit of kit as I did for our set. I'm quite pleased with how these have come out considering I was a bit knackered after our support set, it's my first go at videoing and I'd had a couple of light ales... Sound was on memory saving 192kps MP3. Way below the PCM 48khz 24 bit maximum.
16.
I prefer Stanley Unwin's remarkibold way of slappoping the streels.
17. I can see where the electricity goes but where do you put the petrol.
18. Great gig with the Members on Friday. No sound man until half an hour in on our set. Not too much of a problem as we'd more or less sorted it out between us beforehand. We played rather well and had a laugh. The Orange/TC combination sounded great. I let Chris Payne use it and he liked it a lot. I MC'd the Members in a Kosmo Vinyl style which was fun. They were very good. Especially when Nicky Tesco joined them for the second half of their set. A very Notting Hill gig with lots of interesting stories that I can't tell...
19.
I wasn't sure anyone else would remember who McCartney was ...
Was he Flea's dad?
20. Just a reminder about tomorrows gig with the Members. Guy Pratt will indeed be a special guest. Through my rig too. He bends it he mends it Nicky Tesco is coming out of retirement for the second half of their set too. It's going to be a chaotic hoot. Also our last gig until January. We need to write and record some new stuff.
21. Mr C! Vodka for breakfast will always end up in tears. Going against the grain. As Mr Costello would say accidents will happen. Lay off the bass until it's healed. There will always be more gigs and people will understand. Don't play through the pain and lengthen the healing and maybe even cause more problems. I had the 'boxers break' as the quack referred to it in my right hand a few years ago and took his advice to just let it heal. Didn't take long. No problems at all with it now.
22. Do they do Quorn plectrums for vegans?
23. It's a cunningly disguised shove ha'penny board, I win.
24.
Writing a melody using the shape of a skyline to determine the direction of travel of that melody (a Gil Goldstein exercise);
Yeah. I was going to say that.... Play around with A, D and E for a bit. Always a winner.
25.
I'm currently in 2 bands - one original ,one pure covers . Can I vote twice
It's all famine or feast with you.
