1. Scunthorpe? Just checking.
2. I bought one. It deviates a fair bit from a Ric. It's very nice though. Retrovibe RV4
3. And the Lords of the Underworld Darkness fills my heart with pain
4. Colin Moulding and suspenders. Nice
5. The Musicbackerfaker Retrovibe RV4.
6. Very tasty. But I've just ordered some Dr Black Beauties and Red Devils so I'll have to wait a while to get on the neon train. I've been using coated DR's for a year now. I like them. No complaints.
7. Now the bass has settled to a controlled climate I've managed to get the action just how I like it. Weeks on a boat and 5 days in a cold Parcelfarce depot obviously didn't help. I'm taking it to the studio tonight to make some noise. I forgot to metion weight. I reckon it's about the same as my Precision at a nice 8 1/2 lbs. Full story and pics to follow in the White Bass Porn thread soon.
8. Jaffa cake with a black scratcher.
9. White with navy competition stripes. Spurs home kit. PS Navy scratchplate for local gigs. White one for Europe.
10. Got my white RV4 Rickenfaker on Monday. A brief run down before I post more in the white bass thread. Finish - Paint and binding are excellent. Nice fretwork and tidy inlays. Everything as it should be. Feels very sturdy. Hardware - MM style bridge and tuners are good quality. Sound - The two MM style passive pickups have a very healthy output. Nice and thick snarly sound with a trebly rasp. All three combinations are very useable. The real proof is in a band mix which will be next Wednesday. Stuff that needs attention - The cheapo strings turned my fingertips black. I binned them and have put on an old set of DR black beauties. Tone conrols do nothing much except when rolled off completely. I'll replace these. The nut seems to be cut a little to low. Action needs to come down a bit. It's playable but on the high side even with a tweak on the truss road. I'll take it for a proper set up soon. Fingerboard was very dry. Rubbed a bit of fast fret in. May put some raw linseed on it as I like the smell. Dot markers on the neck are very small and a pale grey. Very hard to see. I'll have to get some kind of stickers. Especially as frets aren't normally where I would expect. For £249 it's a damn good bass though. For a few quid more it will be excellent. I can see this as an occasional gigging tool. Plus it looks very cool.
11. So what's a tenor guitar then?
12. The 80s were rubbish. Damned by association.
13. Didn't the bloke from Bad Company use one of these? I can then bore you with my Bad Company anecdote.
14. I use an RS112 with an RS210. It copes well with the not very quiet 500W Terror Bass. The 1x12 acts like a sub. I love these cabs. It's great on it's own for rehearsals too. I rarely get past no. 3 on the dial as people generally like to hear the rest of the band too. As to sound. To my ears I found the TC warmer and less hi-fi sounding than the MB ones. I like an old school sound so they were spot on for me. Maybe the MB ones would be better if you want to sound a bit more modern?
15. The Jetsonics have racked up 11 so far this year. This is about as many as I want. If we do too many there's no time to write and record so I'm happy with how it's going. We've performed better at each one too which is good. We've already got 4 booked for next year with another 3 or 4 to confirm. Almost time to get some (part time) management on board?
16. Anything by the Jetsonics.

18. Yes. Mine is on all the time in standby/on.
19.
Joking aside, it's a serious point. This is turning into a version of the old "master's staff room" in here. Pipe and slippers anyone? Pass the brandy Colonel!
I wish it was. My Times wasn't ironed this morning
20. He's written it all on a plastic keyboard. I'd have paid attention if he'd written it like me on a hand crafted Agarwood keybopadgf..."£&$* splinters!
21. A new song is born. I found by chance a very interesting local story that happened 50 years ago on the net on Tuesday night. I took lots of notes down as I researched it. I took these notes to work and wrote all the lyrics out at lunch and emailed them to the guitarist who was working from home. He came up with a framework of music to work on. Our drummer got stuck in the student demo traffic and couldn't make rehearsal so we spent the time arranging the song and editing the lyrics to scan. It was a lot of fun and hopefully we've got a terrific song once the drummer adds his bit. It would be nice to spend more time creativley writing like this. Sometimes we skip over some of the musical stuff as we don't want to bore the drummer. It's a shame I find the bass line I've written so difficult to play! The song's called 7 Foot Drop.
22. They had a walnut one of these in Maurice Plaquet's when I was working their as a Saturday boy in the late 70s. It was my favourite bass in the shop. I used to spend ages thinking up ways to steal it without getting caught.
23. I've only done it with a Trace combo. Sounded great in the shop. Sounded average in the band. Very happy with my flavour of the month Terror Bass that replaced it. If I want to try any gear out I just need to wait until Happy Jack or Clarky have bought it and have a go on theirs.....
24.
What would worry me though is the fact that he thinks he his great,
Name me one that doesn't
25. I really love that shape. As I said before it looks better than any recent commercially available bass I can think of. Single pickup one with all black hardware for me please when they go into production. Ta.
