1. Final bump - this is easily as good as a US Jazz and has more features.
2. I don't suppose you're planning on moving house to Preston in the next few days are ya?
3.
Warmoth and Allparts will sell you a lined ebony fretless although you're looking at 3-400 quid. If it's any consolation I got so fed up with looking for a fretless maple neck for my Precision I ended up making one. Here's one I made earlier
3-400 quid? fook that If I tried to make my own neck it'd look like a sideboard.
I'll be selling an unlined A-width Jazz neck in a week or so Homer. It's a modified '73 with original tuners and binding, recently overhauled by Paul Herman. It's been on my main gigging fretless for a year and is a real dream to play (it's the only neck, fretted or fretless, on which I can play 'Rhythm Stick'). However, I'm currently playing in a '71 B-width Precision fretless neck, so once I know I'm happy with that, the Jazz neck will be going. It'll be reasonably priced also, and will of course have resale value if you don't get on with it. C
Sounds expensive Chris - and tricky too with no lines on it. I think the Reggie has to go sadly which is a real shame cos I love it but, having just blown a wad on my holiday, I need it to fund a lined fretless.
4. Thanks 2x18 but I already have two cabs.
5. No but thanks I'll have a look
6. Bump before I change my mind and buy a fretless neck for it.
7. I have my Fender Reggie Hamilton up for sale ATM cos I'd like a lined fretless. If I don't sell in the next few days I'm thinking of keeping it and buying a decent fretless neck for it. Any recommendations what to buy and where to buy it?
8. Friday night was a blues gig in Bury with Junkhouse Dog. It was dire - the band were below par and the audience wasn't interested - apart from a few. Saturday night was the complete opposite. My main band - The Silver Dogs played at The Ace Centre in Nelson - it's a lively little theatre with a fantastic sound system which was full apart from a handful of seats. The band was absolutely cooking and we went down a storm. Here's a few snaps I took during set-up.
9. I’m quitting my blues band to concentrate on my main band so up for sale / trade is the bass I used for the blues. It’s a Fender Reggie Hamilton in excellent condition – no dings or scratches. It’s 18v with a passive switch and has (I believe) USA P pup and a special noiseless Jazz pup. Suffice to say it sounds absolutely amazing and has a high output. It has a Hipshot de-tuner, a Badass bridge and the best neck I’ve ever played on any Fender – it has a nice vintage look to it and feels great. It comes with a Fender gig bag and a newly fitted set of LaBella flats. It’s a little bit heavier than a standard Jazz but it never bothered me with my bad back / arthritic hip. I want a nice lined fretless – preferably with an ebony board so if you have a nice 4/5 banger with plenty of mwah, I may be interested in a trade. Otherwise I’d accept £425 collected / meet within a reasonable distance. 10. I had a nice Sterling with a Nordy - no weak G on that sucker at all so here's hoping for ya. I changed the EB Slinky's on my Shuker about two weeks ago supposedly for my favourite DR Sunbeams. I have a horrible suspicion that the strings supplied were not Sunbeams at all but Low Riders which I don't like. Anyway, my G string was really weak and it was getting on my nerves so last night I dug out the EBs, boiled 'em for about 40 minutes and stuck 'em back on the Shuker. My G string is back in business.
11. I like the look of Pau Ferro but to answer the question it's maple for me
12. I sorted this problem out by angling the pup a bit, going a gauge higher on the G string and using compression to even things out. It's annoyin' innit?
13. Mmmm...looks a bit familiar to me...this was my 70RI LE that I owned once and foolishly sold..
14.
am turning my SX75 jazz bass into a fretless and was thinking about changing the colour of the body. love the colour of that jazz, what is it`s "official" shade (you know what i mean)
I dunno TBH - is it daphne blue? Sonic blue is lighter I think.
15. I'm hopeless at describing sound I found the Delanos very punchy - chest thumpingly so, they sounded crisp, definitely hi-fi and with a high output - it still sounded like a Jazz but on steroids. I could get every sound I wanted out of it from dub to face frying treble. I'd definitely recommend them - I'd still have that Shuker if it had 5 strings. bobpalt has it now - perhaps he can describe the sound better than me.
16. I had a Shuker Jazz with Delano humbuckers - it sounded absolutely sublime and they looked really cool too.
17. I have a MIM Fender Reggie Hamilton at the mo as a back up to my Shuker - it's easily the best Fender I've owned and I wouldn't shy away from paying a grand for it. I've owned 5 MIAs including an '83 Fullerton P and a 70sRI Limited Edition Jazz which I sold for £800, 2 CIJs and 2 MIMs. None of them touch the Reggie.

Silver Dogs

The Silver Dogs are doing the ACE Centre- Lancashire on Saturday 27th February. Tickets £5 available here. We play 'ambient folk rock' whatever that is and have been described as 'Pink Floyd meets Fairport Convention' - whatever...it'd be good to see you.
20. Weird John. It's probably code for (made by) US at Ashdown next door to the Kentucky
21. Wayne58 has a couple of W&Ts - he may be interested.
22. I love the Duck and Drake - proper pub and a great venue.
23. Used mine on Saturday night for the first time - on a hollow stage too. Bass was nice and tight with no boominess at all.
24. Last night was in a word...sh*te. A 45 mile drive to play to 12 people - 5 of which were the support band. By the time we came to do our second set, there was only two people in the place so we just had a 40 minute blues jam session with the other band which was actually quite brilliant. I think my days with the blues band may be numbered - it's no fun playing to empty places.
25. I went through a lot of basses to find one I couldn't fault then I found this Shuker. TBH, I wasn't sure at first whether I liked it or not - it's a joy to play and a beautiful and solidly made instrument but it just didn't sound right. I spoke to Jon Shuker about it and soon after changed the pups - Nordstrand Dual Coils for some custom made Wizards and now I have the bass that'll see my playing days out. It astounds me every time I play it. With the Nordstrands...
