Lakland Darryl Jones 4 J-Retro **WITHDRAWN**
niceguyhomer replied to niceguyhomer's topic in Basses For Sale
Forgot to mention that the J-Retro & Hipshot were fitted by The Bass Gallery and I have the receipts to prove it. I know you can import these from the States at lower prices but just to put this deal into context, if you walked into The Gallery and bought this new and then asked Alex to supply and fit the J-Retro and Hipshot and then add the 2 pickguards from Jeannies, you'd have very little change out of £1500. -

Preferring the passive sound, I've been thinking of removing the J-Retro from this and putting the old pots back in. But, this is a superb bass as it is and because it looks the biz with the J-Retro I think it would be a shame to spoil it and I know someone else will be happier than I am with the intricacies and wide tonal range of the J-Retro. This bass is in superb condition and is a great player, the neck is the best I've played. It has enormous bottom end and slaps like a mofo. It has a Hipshot thingy that drops the E to D. I paid £730 for this with the standard white pickguard and a gig bag (not great) then spent another £50 on 2 Jeannie's pickguards and £30 on some new DR Sunbeams. Oh and I bought a Hiscox Lifelite case for it but I'll probably keep that depending on what I buy after this. I'm not desperate to sell but I have severe P GAS. Prices are as follows: Bass, standard white p/g and original pots / gig bag - £730 Bass, standard white p/g plus the black one fitted - £740 Black cherry tort p/g - £22 (cost £35 with postage & customs sting) The Hiscox case is negotiable but it's brand new and unmarked. As usual will deliver within a reasonable distance / meet halfway. I don't like shipping basses. Trades are welcome with cash either way, but I'm fussy and please don't take the piss with stupid offers. More pics on request. Please note the black cherry pickguard does not quite meet the control plate as is normal I believe for Jeannie's.

Yep - what Spike said; Higher & Higher Do You Love Me and Everybody Shake a Tailfeather Town Like Malice (for the younger element)

My God!!! Didn't William Tell use one of them? Looks interesting Mike...lock up the snakes, cover up the Bongo and I'll come and have a dabble

Everybody should own a Bongo at least once in their playing lives

+1 Alex is the man to ask. I do and sometimes ignore his advice to my cost. -
reduced to evil bay gutted
It's unbelievable that you can't sell this gorgeous bass Ian - I was tempted myself but every time I buy a 5er, I end up selling it after a couple of weeks. It seems that you can't give stuff away these days - good luck mate.

We could do it - we do a lot of weddings and private functions. We play mainly soul but do other stuff too - Who / Jam / Small Faces etal. www.niceguyeddie.info -

Just curious about how Bass Day went, I was feeling a bit knackered after the gig on Saturday night so I didn't make it. Was it good?
Homer Where did you get your Rack Spacer with the access hole for the Jack leads? I've been looking everywhere for one. Cheers
I bought it with the rack case from Electromusic - the hole was drilled by a technician in our maintenance department and I borrowed the grommet from our spares department.

Using both cabs together, you get a moderate increase in volume because the head's running at 4 ohms plus the additional 12" of air being moved. The 112 adds mids and clarity to the deeper sounding 212 which makes the rig much easier to hear on stage - not least because of the fact you have a speaker closer to your ear. I would say it works ok for some situations but in some rooms I've got a better sound using the 212 on its own - presumably because it's getting all of the juice from the head. That said, I've yet to encounter a room yet where the 212 can't cope on it's own.

My band's DIing now since we've upgraded our PA. Last night at the lesbian wedding, I used my new EBS Microbass into the desk and it was a great success so I really don't need this rig anymore and want to sell to fund a good quality light 'n loud combo for stage monitoring. The head is just over one year old, the 2x12 is about 4 months old and the 1x12 is about a month old - all bought brand new. There are a couple of extremely minor marks here and there but it's in as good a nick as anything you'll see masquerading as new in some stores. This is a very loud rig - the 1001RBII head is 700 watts + another 50 for the horn system, the 212 is 600 watts (8 ohm) and the 112 is 300 watts (8 ohm), it's also very light. It also sounds fantastic - clean and punchy or warm and growly if you dial in some boost. I realise I've got two chances of selling the whole thing as one - ie; Bob Hope and no hope but if I have to sell separately, I will but please be aware, I won't let anything go until I'm in the ball park money-wise for my new combo but I'll hold items for interested parties. I'm in a busy band and need something to gig with. Prices: Head - £350 (paid £539 new) 212 neo - £350 (paid £524) 112 neo - £250 (paid £309) SKB rack case - £40 (paid £85) Korg Tuner DTR 1000 - £75 (paid £130) Buy the lot and you can have it for £950 delivered / meet halfway. Will consider trades for suitable equipment. More pics on request. Bit of missing chrome as delivered from the store...

Went to Manchester Academy last night to see Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes for the third time and they were absolutely brilliant. If you like the soul/r&b sound etc and want a good night out - just go. You'll also get to see and hear a really nice white Precision through an Ampeg. Here's a link to his www with tour dates etc. http://www.southsidejohnny.com/
