1. Check out: http://freemusicsoftware.org/category/free.../amp-simulators for some freeware guitar amp simulators! Some look a bit amateur, but theres a couple at the bottom, namely Freeamp & Guitar Suite that look pretty hefty. I've downloaded them, but haven't tried them yet, so we'll see! Si
2. I'm wanting to upgrade the recording system i'm using, and think that this would be a great way to go. I like Logic and the idea of working on ideas on the fly! I'm thinking just the base macbook model is fine for what I want to do, although apparently the new aluminium ones are a lot sturdier than the older plastic ones...stands to reason! Anyone have any advice? Cheers Si
3.
Theirs is scabby by comparison
haha, yes, but it hasn't had the benifit of a nice new paint job like yours Si
4. I'll stick to perving over the original '71 on The Gallery's website for £1000 off bump though innit! Si
5. How heavy is the body? Are you going to be selling this? Cheers Si
6. FSOF London show added! Si
7. My OLP 4 was a great stopgap while I waited for something to get finished (my Shuker/Parts Jazz), it did the job, and is now a suitable backup to said jazz! They're pretty easy to upgrade, I dropped a Bart pickup in with an 18v 2band active/passive East preamp, some Schaller tuners and it was great! Si
8. I play in First Signs Of Frost We peddle our own brand of melodic progressive rock/metal, with an emphasis on songs, not tech for tech sake. Our debut album will be out soon, next few months or so, it's recorded and mixed and awaiting mastering! Feel free to check us out at www.myspace.com/firstsignsoffrost I also play in a covers band called Re:Cover, I very much enjoy playing with the guys in the band, they are what make it fun! I also do some dep and session work but FSOF is my main focus and priority! Si
9. Check out some Bottesini, beautiful pieces for solo bass (mostly arco) with piano accompaniment. Cd's and sheet music will be readily available, but the pieces are largely slow and sparse enough to figure out yourself! Si
10. See I just run 45-105, it's the increased core size that gives a higher tension. Basically means you can have whatever guage/tension combination you want! Si
11.
I know plenty in drop C if you're interested?
That does seem to be the jist of the original post For my Drop C tuning, I use high tension strings, so I can have an action comparable to standard tuning, reduced buzzing etc etc Si
12. What I've found is that its not just learning the songs from the originals though! Tis learning the arrangements and intricacies employed by this particular band Si
13. Oh and just about on topic but funny...have this: Si
14. Pretty sure it's a Vigier!...don't tell Ped Although seeing as they're miming, could still well be his stingray on the recording! Si
15. Thats a hell of a list, 43 songs!! I mean my covers band's list is about the same, 50 or so, but we pick and choose per gig, and usually end up with 9-12 per set! Can you not request that you learn some of these for this gig and learn the rest of the next gig? I'm with you though, playing a dep gig tomorrow night, first gig on 5 strings for maybe 4 years lol, so am currently learning all the awful cheese that my band wouldn't be seen dead doing lol. Playing on 5 because whenever i've dep'ed for this band before, they always have random singers that want the songs in all kinds of keys. I figure its easier to re-acquaint myself with (my friends) 5er over a couple of days, rather than having to transpose with a 4 on the fly. Good luck though mate Si
16. I actually do want a couple of kettle leads please!! Settled on a price? Si
17. Yes, neither myself nor WoT were commenting on the colour of the bass, so there's definitly no need to go on the defensive by commenting on others members instruments!. Nor is it particularly polite to comment Gareths '83 fullerton P-bass thread with a similar, but alot harsher, comment as that which he posted here, it will only ever look like petty tit-for-tat. Anyway, good luck with the sale, it looks like a great bass, and thanks for the comments about my music, unfortunately I don't have time to tab it out, but it's a fairly easy chord structure/lead line based around Cmajor (bass was Warwick corvette $$ and effects were from Boss ME-50B, Akai Headrush for the looping) Thanks Si
18.
"Hello? Is that the 'O RLY?' owl? I've got a job for you.."
+1 Good luck with the sale though! Si
19. All of my bands songs are in C standard tuning (C, F, Bb, Eb) www.myspace.com/firstsignsoffrost album coming soon! Si
20. Indeed, fair play to Squier for raising it's game!! I'm currently hunting for a Squier Deluxe Jazz 5string, so we'll see Si
