There's not many bands you wanna see, and you're working on a (crazy busy) bar for 18 hours......for free....to camp in a hell-hole..... Awesome Have fun! :-D Si -
Just ordered mine on eBay (same as jack), so looking forward to getting this done next week Si
My thoughts exactly.... it's all been said on the basses so I thought I'd mention I genuinely like that rug!
Haha, thanks?! The white bits look mucky, they're not, but it's that rug material that has a different shade depending on the direction of the pile.....I have no idea what I'm talking about! I've gigged the precision 4 times since I picked it up (5th and 6th time tonight and tomorrow), and it's fantastic. Raised the action a tad and it just feels completely natural to play!. My '73 Jazz is perfect too, but there's something about the P that just completes a band . I'm sold! Si

I'm 2/3s clear....just gotta get the '83 Stingray from somewhere and I'm sorted! Si

You want a tort pickguard Si
No fretless?
Maybe in the future, but no need for one at the moment....hate having gear that doesn't get used Si

Haha, yes Wes, great sofas....perfect for sunburst basses Si

My updated list....which should stay like this for a while now: Currently Owned: 1973 Fender Jazz 1971 Fender Precision 2003 USA Fender Jazz Standard 4 2009 USA Fender Jazz Standard 5 Previously Owned: 1983 USA Fender Jazz 1985 Japanese Fender Squier A-Series Precision (SQ Spec.) OLP ThingRay 4 Shuker/Parts Jazz 4 Fender Squier Classic Vibe Jazz 4 Fender Squier Deluxe Jazz 5 Fender Squier Bronco 4 Encore/Parts Precision 4 Shuker Electric Upright 4 Lakland Skyline 44-02 Deluxe 4 1998-1999 USA Fender Jazz Deluxe 4 Warwick Corvette $$ 4 Bass Collection 355 5 Bass Collection 355 Fretless 5 Crafter Acoustic BA400 4 Yamaha RBX260 4 Si

Yeah my Jazz blew my Corvette $$ away, thats not to say it will be like that for others. There's a couple of US Fenders in the For Sale section for between £475 - £600 Si
-
Again, just adding to the debate, not arguing ....but I owned a Warwick and a USA Fender Jazz at the same time and the Fender blew the Warwick $$ out the water, on every aspect. The Warwick just got used less and less when I bought the Jazz, and I eventually sold it. That Jazz (my 2003 one) has probably done close to 400 gigs I reckon and its still perfectly fine, some paintwork coming away through sheer use, but thats it! I think the actually argument for me isn't brand related, it's active vs passive....I"m very much a passive fan, all the middy honky boutique basses (as mentioned above) are generally active, whereas I've always found passive basses to be a lot more organic and dynamic. For what it's worth, Fender's pre-amps are just as sucky lol Si

Bide your time, it'll happen! Even to you Nige Si

I also find practicing scales, but in intervals, helps. So a G major scale, played with alternate intervals of five would be G, D, A, E, B, F#, C, G, D, A etc For real string hopping, intervals of 6 is fun, so G, E, A, F#, B, G, C, A etc, although you'll need to start from somewhere on the E string really to get the most out of it. Descending it is a good mind bend too. With quick descends don't rule out raking toward you across the strings with one picking finger. This is the opposite to alternating your fingers and is seen by some as cheating, but the simple fact is that it's good economy of movement in some situations Si

I'm gonna join the gas-free club now Really happy with everything, I don't think I could improve on anything. I'm gonna really knuckle down with my playing as I seem to have become slightly gear obsessed over the last 6months. Having said that, I'm kinda getting into my girlfriends GAS.....Roller Derby...skates haha. Oh and tattoo GAS will always be there, my other arm needs starting....and my chest...hmmm, glad bass is out the way Si

Cheers guys, really looking forward to gigging the Precision tonight and tomorrow! One thing I've noticed about the others, is that the 5 string has a much more 'vintage burst' than the 2003, I know that red is the first to go from a burst, but the middle is also much more yellow. The 2003 is almost two-tone, orange to black. I keep thinking one day I'll have it refinished to two-tone.....it'll never be worth anything.......right!? Si

Picked up a 1971 Precision from Jim. Fantastic as always, good tea and chats Cheers bud Si

I have to say, after I put a badass on a jazz a while ago, I didn't notice any kind of significant increased sustain compared to my standard bridged fenders. I've also found that on the few recording sessions I've done recently, my '03 Jazz has been bass of choice, whereas my '73 gets the pick live. Could he anything though, as has been mentioned. Measure the output of the pickups on both basses, see if that throws up any clues?! Si

Horrah! Si

So after recently selling my 1983 US Fender Jazz, last night I went over to 99sters and picked up a 1971 Precision All original, with it's case, both covers (although only bridge fitted). I can't wait to gig this bad boy, nice and light, setup beautifully by Andy Viccars. Whilst I had it out, thought I'd take some 'family' photos: 1973 Jazz Bass Uploaded with ImageShack.us cont. below

I love also where he says "I think its a one piece body, I can't see any joins", then there's the second-to-last picture of the jack input where there's a BLATENT join lol. It's gonna be a three piece at the very least! Si

ESP, thats what I mean, not Schecter lol Si
-
Yeah Otto is a dude, pretty sure that's his Schecter! Will point him over to this Si

Oh I didn't mean for my post to seem self-important, just that (hopefully) a guitar version in the dreaded Em can actually work lol Si
