1.
Lovely stuff! I assume it can get pretty high gain as well? Have you been able to get anywhere near the scooped B3K-type tone from it as well at all? Tom's stuff's already on my board, but I'm looking to cover as many dirt tones with as few dirt boxes as possible! Thanks Si
It's not mega high-gain, but then I don't need it to be. I simply needed 2 channels of gain in as smaller a footprint as possible. Did you see the video demo I did for the 66 on youtube? Not had it sounding like a B3K, but then I'm not a fan of the B3K/B7K tone, so that's fine by me Si
2.
Si, may be a bad comparison, but can you get sounds similar to an OCD/Demon from the 66 Knightfall?
They're all a very similar circuit, albeit with some component/architectural changes, and with the 66, some significant feature additions. I'm currently running my 66 with Germaniums in channel 1 and LEDs in channel 2, the OCD circuit, same as the DEMON, is traditional MOSFET clipping. As such, the answer is yes, the 66 can get OCD/DEMON-esque tones, but a lot more to boot! Si
3. I'm kinda liking this weekly change around Si
4. Buy an Xotic BB Bass Preamp Job done Si
5. Ultimate Jazz bass! Si
6. Meh. I actually find it really difficult to get excited about digital multi-fx. They're cool if you're not into pedals and you just want one box to do it all 'alright', but it just sounds very beige to me based on the videos. Maybe I can have a listen up close at the LBGS Si
7. I've used TU-2s for years and years. No issues at all, perfectly great and built like a tank. Slightly dull dislay in bright sunshine, but it's the UK, so minimal negative effect there . Just got a Polytune mini to save space on a little board and it seems cool so far, some slight noise problems with it being a digital pedal in a power daisy chain. But changing it's position in the effects chain seems to have eleviated that. Si
8.
Ta da! Need Velcro and won't be Running it with the band fir a few weeks yet, apologies for the small pic!
And running it into a Meatbox, boom! Si
9.
Happy fuzz day! (for yesterday!) - took receipt of my Cog Grand Tarkin to celebrate, which is likely to bully my sfx micro fuzz of my board......
Piccccs Si
10. Keep them coming, 45mins left :-D Si Ps Title changed
11. I guess we could organise a Fuzz day at some point Like the bass bashes, but just for Fuzz? haha Si
Finally got round to finishing the BB preamp and it's not disappointing in any way, shape or form. I was a little bit apprehensive about just a 2 band on a pre, but it's really well voiced and sounds great.
Yeah, I don't miss any mids on this pedal. Really nice. Sounds slightly different in the low end to the Xotic, but still great and very useable! Si
14. And the other side is a Mantic Density Brute Si
15. When I briefly had a Streamliner 900 to gig with, I found it really difficult to cut through in general. Switched back to Markbass and had no problems at all. Just sayin' Si
16.
what a great band... and a lurvley drummer
Yup, lovely drummer! Si
17. Typical, after noting that none of these ever come up for sale....I bought new (albeit the Noir version) Oh well Great little tuner Si
18. Sounds like a real dark overdrive. BBJE/Mad Professor Blueberry maybe, Fuzzrocious Dark Driving etc. Si
19. Yeah, saw Tera Melos in London last night, the Bass Whammy sounds really great! You know.....just to help the G.A.S. Si
20. We'll see how this layout fairs: Si
21. Yeah it's cool, real grindy, and surpringly more gain in the mix than I thought. I thought I'd have to max the gain, but ended up winding it back a bit! Need to re-jiggle the board as the Mammoth enclosure doesn't lend itself to being the 2nd row on the flat. Don't have enough clearance for a riser though with how I store/transport it. Also think I need the tuner at the end of the chain as there seems to be some weirdness with the Polytune having a gain pedal after it! Si
22.
nice and compact! so are you another 'OC-2 after dirt' advocate too?? I just don't get on with my OC-2 after o/d or fuzz, but it seems to be how most people run their boards!
I'm a bit of a convert, although it always depends what you want to achieve. For this band I rarely use OC-2 with dirt, but when I do, I want to retain the subby lows, not compress it out with the dirt pedals. So I get slightly 'duller' dirt with the OC-2 on, but sounds massive Si
23. Re-shuffled my main board: Just felt like a bit of a change is all, nothing wrong with the old sounds. Although I did want to streamline power & tuning, so off came the T-Rex Juicy Lucy & TU-2, on goes Diago & TC. Just for some rotation, Fuzzrocious Dark Driving has replaced the COG 66 & because of the tuner/power change, had space to add the Mammoth clone I built Oh also moved OC-2 to post dirt rather than pre, MUCH better! Si
24. Do a lot of guys take FOH signals out of their pedalboard? I have to say I always have my DI on my amp. Or is it perhaps meant for more recording means?! Si

Buffer-lows
Problem is---especially with fuzz---that nearly everyone has a different view on what "works" and what doesn't, especially because it also depends to an extent on exactly what preamp is in your bass, your settings, what you're trying to do, etc.
Too true, hence me suggesting that you try as many as possible.....its fun.....trust me Si
