Grounding problem, should get sorted with an electronics overhaul. Quite how it's been back to the the store and the distributor and still has the issue I don't know though, does it not happen at their locations? If it does, and they're not fixing it, they should give you a new bass. If it's not happening at their locations, but at all locations with you.....could be a problem with your cables/amp etc. Si p.s. Just moving this to repair forum
A lovely trio there Si, and six years with the '71? Wow, only seems like yesterday...
Time flies huh! Picked it up from 99ster in May 2011 Si

Thanks, yeah they're decent pair that's for sure! If I ever became really flush (like money to burn situation because the 55-01 is actually really good), I'd probably order a US 55-94 to replace the 55-01, but with soapbar humbuckers.....so essentially a US built 55-01. Si FUN FACT: The 55-01 (and 44-01 obviously) only exist because the factory building the initial run of 44-02 & 55-02 prototypes didn't have the MM+J pickups spec'd by Lakland in stock. So they could still demonstrate the general wood-work and finishing quality etc, they delivered the protos with two soapbar pickups, which Lakland thought were cool, so kept them as the xx-01 models.
Looks like an amazingly versatile set of basses! You might wanna look into the new Justin Meldal-Johnsen signature Mustang...
Suffice to say I won't be spending nearly £1k on a short scale haha. Maybe £500.....if it's really cool, obviously this likely means a used one. I'm in no rush, really I don't have a pressing use for one, but think it would be cool to record on, strung with tape-wounds. Si

I think the values around that period make the assumptions that's all the parts will have differing dates, part of the reason they're not 'collectable'. But as has been mentioned, if you found a good one, that doesn't weigh a ton, good times. Si
On another note how about an Olinto P bass made by Mas Hino, they look the beans
Add another $1000 onto the price and you're just about there I think Si

Custom US 44-94 passive P/J in Shoreline Gold: The rosewood is beautifully dark, with some nice figuring (difficult to capture), but the birdseye maple dots really add something extra IMO: Here it is with my Skyline 55-01, apart from some mild contouring differences, same body size/shape: Cheers Si

As of July 2017. L-R: Lakland US 44-94 passive P/J custom, 1971 Fender Precision, Lakland Skyline 55-01 w/ US Bart electronics upgrades 6 days into the 44-94, 6 months into the 55-01, 6 years into the '71 Precision. Loving them all so far! I'd quite like to add a short scale, but not sure what yet, perhaps a Lakland Decade/Hollowbody 30 or a Fender Mustang. Si

Replace a Musicman pickup with a Precision... Possible?
Sibob replied to sirmuppet's topic in Repairs and Technical
I'm sure there's any number of pickup companies that would build you a split-coil into a MM casing. That would probably be the 'cheap' option, the Enfield pickup is a good shout for lots of options (I'd probably go that route if that was my bass). Any particular reason you want a split coil sound in that position rather than a humbucker? It would sound like a Precision due to positioning, so might be a bit of a pointless exercise? Si -

I'm surprised Scientology allows signature basses 🤔😂 Si -
In my on-going mission to post every page of the internet into Basschat, we have PMT's review of the unit which gets off to an iffy start but improves with some nice sounds on display. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbZciLNDb-g
What a horrible review! No-doubt this thing is powerful, why can't these places actually employ a bass player to really look at the unit properly?! Si
Something like this. I had to DIY it myself.
Very cool, love it. I myself wouldn't go for a fanned fret, but love the SG shape. One day I'll own one in some form.....just don't like how Gibson do it is all. Si

I bet he just fancied having one built, perhaps for some recording and Warwick said, have it for free if we can do a video. Who wouldn't say yes to that, especially if there's no exclusivity claus. Bet the p'ups are Nordies take on the Wal p'ups, interesting. I like how the video is shot, whoever put it together is obviously a fan of their videos, or certainly done their homework. Si
Don't think a long scale Mustang would work without some serious redesign of the body, it'd be Neck Dive City otherwise! Eude
Depends how heavy the body is?! Si -
Don't think it's had a mention, but the Warwick Jack Bruce was also pretty cool: http://www.warwickbass.com/en/Warwick---Basses-Made-in-Germany--Signature-Jack-Bruce-CRB--Jack-Bruce-CRB--4-string--Pictures.html Si
I think it is a RW and MIM. That's no bad thing these days though.
It does make sense for this to be the case. I really like the look of it, but I'm not sure why I'd buy this over a £500 MIJ other than paying a £350 premium for the colour?! If Lakland ever do a Decade Skyline as a 30" (not the hollow body), that would be really eat into that Mustang market. Si -
I think price will be closer to £900 after reading around. The Hendrix strat will be £800.
Hopefully, the info I saw was from an early eBay listed, so probably wrong. It was described as 'Road Worn' though, as opposed to a relic.....so might be MIM?! Si -
Vanderkley are better than Barefaced cabs, right?!
Sibob replied to Al Krow's topic in Amps and Cabs
Yup, try both in a live environment (i.e. at a gig), the only way to truly know which you prefer! Anything else is just other peoples preferences. Si -
I had an earth loop recently so pronounced that the tuner was picking it up , G# I think it was , now that was a noise , it eventually turned out that a new consumer unit in the garage had been fitted with the tails the wrong way around so the whole house was reverse polarity !!
Laaaaaaame lol Si

Slightly odd relic'ing, never seen an actual vintage with that kind of wear......but other than that, looks cool! Si

I'm a big fat question mark for this......so I won't put myself in the list yet. Mrs out in the morning (so I have Finn), then I have a gig in the evening. We'll see. Si
