1. Hi Guys Got back into playing these last few years and have been quite taken by precisions, but before i stopped playing I loved Stingrays Its well over 10 years since I played a MM or even heard one in a small gig situation As with the P bass the stingray is used over many styles Would anyone suggest styles or territory either would not go where the other would? I also know some see the MM as an improvement on the P bass, in what way?
 2. I think I would love to get a classic P bass (love the look of 62s) but I am not sure to look for vintage, get an almost new or new USA model or look CIJ I know most advise will be try em all, but logistics just don't allow me to run all over the country checking things out, and if I wait for local stuff I'll be 62 myself before I get one Cost can vary, I would be happy to spend out an 2nd hand CIJ, around double again for USA new or go vintage (would then have to sell my Ric, which is starting to grow on me now) Also I would want this to be a gig bass, so it would have to be something Id not worry to much about, so a new MIA maybe a little to shiny? Any thoughts based on the above would be very welcomed indeed
 3. Ive recently brought the RH450 and a TC 212 The sound is fantastic, but if you are standing close with it at your feet you dont really hear it among a full band I am putting some in the pa foldback at present, but will soon add a 210 to put on top With regard to the feet, I will need to sort something out as stacking will ruin the finish Also I lift it out the boot in one hand, whilst I lock the motor before returning it to both hands to avoid putting it on the floor, clearly I need to get some feet as this is a pain I am however happy with my purchase, and at least the TCs can be filled and paint touched up, you cant mend a carpet or vinyl finish Slightly of topic I know, but TC at least
 4. Not a cv but I did own a squire VM jazz and it was great, in fact I ran the PA for the guy I sold it to last sat and it sounded great in the mix I have a MIM pbass now as a gigging bass which is also great, but there is little in it when left std, again Logo is an issue and only you know your heart with regard to this
 5.
Hello all, As I have just acquired a beautiful jag from GazWills it is time to say goodbye to my trusty mexican fender p. I have owned this from new (bought mid 90s) and it has joined me through various band, gigs, clubs, the works! It really is a great little mex and has always played beautifully with a very nice neck. I replaced the scratchplate to an antiquey looking off white/duck egg colour which is very fetching and also replaced the bridge for a gotoh style number. Other than this it is all original. I also copper lined the cavity, so this bass is super clean and quiet now with no buzzing. It could do with a new set of strings and a set up - intonation is fine but the action could be lowered slightly, other than that there are no playing faults. There are a few blemishes and marks to the bass - not very noticeable unless up close. There are these black marks that it has picked up from somewhere around the edges of the paintwork and on one corner of the bass (pictured). it used to have a few stickers so that probably came from there. There is also two little knocks where the paintwork has cracked, one of them pictured below. Other than that there is a bit of buckle rash on the back, but that's it. I think all of this just adds to the character of this bass though - it has a nicely aged vibe to it. I am hoping to get £300 ono and I will include a very nice tribal planet gig bag which is a tough mother Any questions please ask - I live in south london and would prefer pick up, but will possibly post at your peril
tempting as Id love a 2nd gigging P so I could put flats on one Is that lake placid blue?
 6. You all may have seen this, but its great fun http://www.lakland.com/ac_glaubpj.htm Want to buy some flats now, oh and a lakland, fender site should do this
 7.
They've corrected the image. I know nowt about Rics, but the original pic had dot inlays, which was the thing that set my alarm bells ringing.
Oh sorry, only saw it just now
 8. Link to C64S on ric site http://www.rickenbacker.com/model.asp?model=4001C64S The one for sale does look like a std 4003 Am I missing something?
 9. what is the difference between the ric in the picture and any current 4003?
 10. A fender should'nt have that many knobs!
 11.
Hey I have a Markbass LMII, in very good condition (has recently been checked by a pro as well and is in fine working order) and I'm half tempted to get an F1 or LMK head, just becasue I fancy going a bit more hi-fi, but sticking to Markbass. Just want to know how much I could get for it. Paulie is selling an F1 on here for £470 and if I could get enough from a sale of my LMII, I might go for it... Cheers Karl
Sold mine easily and quickly for around £380 (cant remember the exact) a few months back, A1 condition boxed
 12.
Has anyone got much experience with these cabs? Would they be good for low tuned metal music? I play mostly 5 string basses so the low B(sometimes tuned lower) would have to really stand out for me. Any advice would be much appreciated
I used to own one, fantastic cab, sorry but never used it with a 5, did however gig a rock covers band with it to great effect If it were easier to lift id never have parted with it
 13. I have a rickenbacker which I keep choosing not to gig over my fender, I am seriously considering turning my dream ric into a dream fender but unlike the ric cant seem to gauge what the correct prices are Id love to find something that would hold its value but also not be so special Id be scared to leave it on a stand near groups of half cut gig goers Is this possible, as if it were just to keep at home then I may as well keep the ric on the wall (it does look nice!)
He sounded better with a Fender though Bob
does'nt everyone
 15. I was 100% happy with my bass whilst I researched my new rig, I am now 100% happy with that so now ive time to examine my bass desires, the scores gone down circles ........
 16. The action on my 4003 is very very low, its why I find it hard to use as its so sensitive I over do it as I am used to it higher Anyway glad it went well, messing around with expensive kit under pressure is never a good idea!
 17.
Playing an old Fender removes all sorts of pressures that should be irrelevant anyway, but somehow seem to matter SO much. I played a new venue with a sort-of-new band a couple of weeks ago, and I'm lucky enough to have to choose which bass to take to a gig. I didn't know the venue or what sort of crowd turns up there, I didn't know how well we'd play or how well we'd go down there. So I removed as many variables as possible. Turning up with a 1974 Fender P-bass removes pretty much all questions of judgment or taste from the situation. No one ever sneered at an old P-bass, no one ever winced at the tone of an old P-bass, no one ever asked "Why did you bring THAT then?". It's the musical equivalent of wearing a pair of comfortable Levi's and some Adidas trainers ... people take one look at them and then focus instead on the person wearing them.
Although I agree, and this is how the world works in general, it is sad we have to think like that The flip is that you have to play all the better if your gear is quality
 18. seem to remember loads of purple type colors on basses during the 90s, where are they all now?
 19.
Now then, +1 to this question! I've been trying to unravel exactly this mystery myself over the last few days, and have drawn a similar blank.... There are fair screeds of text online from TC on the subject - none of which seem to answer this question satisfactorily. Only today I was contemplating emailing TC with this question. I think I will. Unless someone else has already...in which case please let us in on the secret!
I have rehearsed and gigged my Rh450 over the last few weeks and am very impressed, I am not sure what else it could do that it already does not that would be worth an extra few hundred Not a very technical answer i know
 20.
any thoughts on the rig he's potentially using? valves in there somewhere i think, for a start ?
Really digging this guy (and his bass) just viewed a few clips, he is using ampeg stuff in some of them Again though, what P bass is it ?
 21.
any thoughts on the rig he's potentially using? valves in there somewhere i think, for a start ?
its a rh450 underneath (joke) Please correct me, but I love that bass look as well as sound, is it honey blonde? what model is it?
 22.
I don't listen to a lot of popular music at all, but I love the Precision sound on this... I bought the "Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears" album on iTunes and it's fantastic. Bill Stevenson's sound is amazing!
Are you saying that quo are not popular?
 23. heard that song a while back, think it was on jools holland? bass playing and sound is real quality and no bridge pick up in sight think I will check the album too what colour is that P bass he's playing?
 24.
hiho, get a sansamp or hartke vxl-some type of pre amp driver and bend in to it and you,ll love it. I,ve got a musoman and a p-bass that sometimes see daylight.I just love it too bits, when you fiddle around and get them singing it,s hard to put them down.
Are you talking about a rickenbacker?
