1. I'll have you know that's an original copy, stand on me!
2. I've played Lakland before & like them. I must say I'm very traditionalist & just feel most comfortable with a good old fashioned Fender. I too just wanted to redress the balance. Lakland is great but so is a good Fender!
3. Peter Cooks in Hanwell is cheapest / friendliest BUT it's a good 45mins from pretty much everywhere!
4. I had a break for a few years & it did me the world of good. I enjoy it again but certainly hear you on all moans & gripes. You have to weigh up the pros & cons - if the good outweighs the bad, do it - if not, time for a rethink. Personally I love it again!
5. The B200r was raved about on another Bass site & I heard one last night - I thought it was fine. I have a BA115U which is good fun. I know there are better amps out there but for portability or Ampeg on a budget, yeah - why not?
6. I've owned a few over the years (my main CIJ or MIJ I should say P-bass has been my mainstay for 20yrs!). They are great & I don't need to add "for the money". I own a USA P-bass & I'd describe it as "as good as" the MIJ stuff.
7. The soundslive ones are great quality. They are made by Warwick but they don't have any listed right now.
8. Lucky Scott is da bomb, as the cool kids would say!
9. I think it depends on the people. I play guitar in one band where the singer is very dicatorial (we're late 30s to early 40s) but my other bands are more relaxed. Creative freedom is very important to me
10. Looks real to me - PM sent! I think you are alright looking at the listing
11.
Wot? Similar in that it has four strings and is made of wood? My first bass had tuners like that. It was a jazz copy and was badged as 'yamato'. it wasn't a very nice bass.
You've spotted the similarities there! It's uncanny, isn't it?
12. I've heard nothing but good things about GE & the CIJ P-basses are awesome!
13. I bought a fake CIJ on EBay recently - there is a thread here & there was a seller knocking out good fakes. Pics would help. My seller is no longer registered but was from the West Midlands. Serial numbers really are nearly always at the heal of the neck in scroll writing and if this is not the case I'd have a few alarm bells ringing. My seller was knocking out Squiers with decal changes. It's a good scam as the CIJ models aren't known that well outside of the enthusiasts!
14. ....which is exactly what Old Git just said, only I missed it first time around!
15. I've had that scam a few years ago. It got as far as me getting a cheque which was handed to local Police but the seller sems reluctant to collect it. I didn't lose out. What happens is the cheque comes from a business account. It's made out with an extra 0 on the amount - so an item for £90 gets a cheque for £900. They say they trust you, someone collects the item you sold for £90 with £810 cash (they might let you keep £100 for being "honest"). A week later your bank realises it was a fake & you are down several hundred. And the item you sold!
16.
Actually a photo of me I like...! Playing a gig at Georgia Browns in Hindley, nr Wigan....backin vocals. Fender MIM P Bass, Ampeg B410HLF & B2RE. Fender vintage Lead. Hell Yeah!
I like your taste in gear!
17.
Always wanted a CAR P but went for black for some reason... dont think they do mims in CAR mind
They do a nice Fiesta red though - on the 50s RI model
18. I'm happy with Grolschlocks too & have used them for the best part of 20yrs!
19.
Dusty Hill of ZZ Top used one for a good while IIRC. Keith Ferguson of the Fab T-Birds...
Dusty is a main user - very cool!
20. I've got the Ampeg BA115U which is the solid state one. It's fine for low key stuff and I do like the portability
21. GAK are good, so are Peter Cooks and Soundslive - I've personally used all 3 & never had a problem
22. If it's Buy It Now where the seller requires immediate payment you don't tend to get emails. I'd give it a week and query it. You are covered if it's paypal so it's not a problem
23. I was about to say you have more P-basses than me until I realised you are selling most of them! The CIJ stuff is always excellent. Nice collection, a shame to break it up
24.
I don't think there's really much you can't get here, it's just that stuff in the US seems a lot cheaper than here.
I agree. So +2 or wherever we're up to!? I'd like either a Resonator bass or a banjo bass. Not easy to get in the UK but one will crop up sometime, maybe on EBay
