1. Great introduction! Welcome
2.
Easy - just retune your bass to the tune and put it back when you're done...
Absolutely! A lot of these older recordings are like this, as said. A bit annoying but not the end of the world. It's only Wyman after all, I'm pretty sure there are no advanced harmonics on unusual frets
3. Mark appears to have 2 threads http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...5&hl=fluffo this being the other one. Aside a monster marathon drive to Dartford yesterday I picked up Mark's 76 Jazz Precision hybrid bass. Very cool guy to deal with, easy transaction & he was patient enough to wait for me to get paid first too Would certainly be up for a trade again. Oh & he even managed to dig out some flats in my gauge and brand as I'd said I liked them! Result.
4. Welcome to the forum A very festive sounding name you have there!
5. Welcome to Basschat. Your username is very similar to Ped who runs the site. Hopefully people won't mix you up!?!
6.
surprised this hasn't been suggested but is defintately my fave. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEo9Bh679wM
Nearly made my original post. Hope you don't mind but I'll embed this into the thread
7. My band use http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/G7th-PERFORMANCE-CAP...=item35ad269294 which is about as good as it gets. Or the Kyser one is ok too
8. I have a lift off style case on my Bassman head. Looks very very cool but the flightcase does add serious weight to what for me was already a very heavy piece of gear. Ultimately I think the choice just comes down to taste. I wouldn't bother with my Orange head but as the Bassman was vintage gear I wanted the ultimate protection.
9.
And Something:
Just worth mentioning today is 9yrs since George Harrison lost his battle with cancer. Good choice too
10.

Nice looking bass
11. Not the MU from me (which sounds like a great idea) but I insure my gear through Musicguard & I automatically get £1m free cover for public liability unsurance on top of my gear protection.
12. Not come across 7 personally but then I don't go looking for the recent kit normally. This list is spot on!
13. Just smooth off the edges. I had a crack in a headstock & subsequently kept putting my thumb on the crack. When I repaired the crack I sanded down around the crack & you can no longer feel it. Job done
14. Welcome back. I was very active in the old Bassworld days & have enjoyed the new site more having had a break. I'm sure you'll feel the same
15. Hi Lee, welcome to Basschat. I too use Wizard pups in my P basses
16. Hi Nick Welcome to Basschat
17. With The Beatles having made it onto Itunes recently, the old records and CDs have had an airing. I know we have a bit of McCartney appreciation amongst the Basschat ranks so I wondered what tunes of the Beatles people really rated basswise. Here's a few random thoughts of mine... Hey Bulldog All My Loving The Night Before The Ballad of John & Yoko Lovely Rita over to you...
18. Your budget should get you a reasonable instrument at worst & a great bass at best. I'm always a little weary of buying acoustic instruments online & would prefer a secondhand one I could try out or getting one from a shop who help set it up properly
19. I too like the effect with the bass on a sheet of black acrylic. These are great basses too
20. Welcome to the forum
21. Welcome to Basschat & indeed welcome to bass
22. I've always been happy with just the four. Nothing against 5 strings etc but I am a real traditionalist in general around music
23.
and how good did THAT sound?
I must ask the neighbours!
24. Obviously a fan of the Badass bridge and change of pickguard then I think Burn to Bass might be me?
25. My now gone 2009 Rickenbacker 4003
