Any thing not quite right? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Jazz-Bass-50t...=item2561a4d3ce
what's the action like and is the neck straight? I am missing my old CMI Rick copy!
Action fine although a little higher than my Fenders, as I only use a pick on Rick style basses. Neck also fine. Have gigged this a few times since I got it, using it for Diamond Head/Metallica's Am I Evil. Oh yes, it can growl . Further PM's replied to, thanks for the interest, but still here. Cheers, Karl.
Jesus Christ, that is amazing. Where the hell did you find it if you don't mind me asking? While not quite as popular I'd actually prefer a more adjustable bolt on neck personally.
Well buy mine then pretty please! Karl.

Bump. It's from 1976, it's very well made, it's a very good likeness to the real thing. More so than most modern Rickenfakers. It's unlikely (but slightly possible) to be worth any less in the future £330 delivered by Parcel Farce £300 collected from Wigan. I need a second SP212, please save me from FEEBay . Karl.
laminated body ?
Yes, but not ply. Jon (Bassassin) calls it "Butchers Block" , I think. It appears to have a facing of about a quarter of an inch, then solid wood beneath that. If anybody has one of those earlier, passive, Mexican Precision Deluxes that have P and J pick ups, I would both swap and meet, if they were of a mind. That would mean my '75 Japanese, non-export Jazz (in my avatar) would be coming up for sale . I really need just 3 basses suitable for the gigs I do. I really want (not need) a second SP212. Thanks for the question, Karl.
Sorry to hear about your health Tom. Good luck with the sale though!
Same here fella, look after yourself. There are only a few folk that present items for sale as well as you do, if you go on the sick there will be much less lusting around these parts . Karl.
Quick question for yous experts. In one of the local flea pits and found one of these Looks pretty similar except it had a black TRC with the name in gold and I think the knobs were a different. A bit battered around the edges and needs a good clean, dust in all the hard to get places the TRC looked cracked but all there and I think there was a crack on the scratchplate too. How much you do these things usually go for?
Sold mine for £165 last year, but have seen them go to pushing £250. Couldn't get away with the short scale, or the very limited tonal variation. Also seemed fragile with poor action beyond redemption by me. Stupidly light though, and some may consider very cool . Good luck, Karl. edited for spelling yet again.
others will probs give you a more defined answer, but the basses Crafted in Japan (CIJ) were made almost exclusively for the Japanese market and considered to be better quality than those Made in Japan (MIJ) which, although still excellent machines, were made for export.. bump, might as well now I'm here
I was under the impression that the change was due to a different factory being given the task of producing them. Seem to remember it changed about mid-nineties.
It's incredible that they released a 75 reissue 10 years later. Can you imagine a 2001 reissue being released now.
Think it was partly that bassists missed the aesthetics of the blocks/binding, especially with some of the strangeness that went with basses in the 80's. I was guilty of some seriously strange basses around that time. Mind, I think most of the early 70's re-issues were non-export Japanese market.

I'll give him jumpers and socks.
If he sells it I hope he uses some of the money to buy a better camera for future ebay ventures! Also much respect to anyone with the balls to bid on what could pretty much be any old plank
Yup, it really could be any old plank. Not doing him/herself any favours with that photo. Assuming I got the correct 6 numbers tonight, I would still be asking for better photo's before embarking on a 400 mile round trip . Karl.
Well, it is from 1063 - which makes it pre-Norman. I'm not sure how careful an owner Norman is - but as he arrived nearly a thousand years ago we can't be too sure. Isn't he on tour over in Dublin? I'm sure I heard someone tell me that Norman is in Ireland... Still - it is a VERY old bass!
Bill being sent (in Groats) for spraying lap top screen .

This may well be a fantastic, original bass, but even I would put a bit more effort into the photo. (Guess who's narked cos tonights gig was cancelled ). Karl.
That maple board one - You're quite right - haven't seen one of these come up for a good few years - got an idea a BCer might have nabbed the last one that did... Jon.
Remember lad in local band in my yoof having exactly that bass. . I had upgraded to a Shaftesbury Tele bass then saw that. Next gig money upgrade was to be one of them , couldn't get one, ended up with an Antoria Black Eagle? Special Edition jazz which weighed about the same as Middlesbrough. Karl.
