1. Kinda forgotten about this with my Nate Mendel being up and the Sadowsky going, so, bump.
2. Very simply put, Steve is an absolutely top bloke, excellent to deal with, great comms through out, just about paid up before I got round to asking for it . Lovely bloke. All the best Steve, the Sadowsky is in great hands. Thoroughly recommended, cheers, Karl.
3. For me, her vocal performance with KC was probably her least amazing really.
4.
Can you post some pictures please, I would love to see what this bass looks like.
Yup, not many folk are going to shell out £2900 without at least some pictures of the actual instrument.
5.
PAs are a constant bone of contention too. I also used to pick up a PA and lights, set it all up, sound check the band, pack down and return it. I didn't mind doing it but it became expected and was getting less and less help at the gig and more moaning about 'not sounding like it does on a recording' and 'we need more lights' that it became a real bugbear. Constant digs that I was getting more for it didn't help. I would has asked for double if I'd known I was expected to absolutely everything. I left in the end and now the person who complained the most is lumbered with it. Maybe they appreciate it a bit more now...
Taken for granted. It's a pisser isn't it. The more you do, the more that is expected.
6.
Yup. I guess, despite amazing advances in amp tech and solid state voicing, it's still the go to combination - I'd like to have both the heft and the cash for a classic Ampeg valve stack
I'd like to have the spine or the roadie . Christina Marie was robbed .
7.
Hang on, eBay bang on about making sure postage costs are fair and accurate and should not be more than the actual cost of postage, regardless of packaging. Why on earth should eBay take a cut of that! T&Cs say that sellers cannot profit from postage amounts, but now you will make a loss? All this does is penalise the buyer, as all sellers will do is raise postage to account for this.
Bugger, I've just put my Nate Mendel on FEEBay and FORGOT to add to the postage
8. Think they were updated from Highway 1 to Highway One in 2006, ie a second version. Think the second version had graphite rods in the neck but to be honest can't be arsed looking it up. Maybe tomorrow.
9. Possibly because you are from THIS planet Dunc. They tend to actually SELL at around £450/£500 now because they are known to be good, well equipped, a finish that will age quickly and discontinued.
10. You are better off PM ing him, he hasn't been on the website since February 14th. Good luck.
11. Normally it's the guitarist with the broken foot that stores/transports the PA. Since he has been off the road, I have nowhere to keep it at home (translation, small bungalow, violent wife ) so the drummer has temporarily stored it in his very long garage.
12. You may be better off posting pictures on here. I went on your Image shack link and it wants me to sign up. I do not wish to sign up.
13. My maths NEVER come with any guarantee
14. Lovely looking bass. I thought strap pins on the back of the headstock finished in the 60's, wrong again . That bass though, is everything a classic P should be. Very tempting. GLWTS
15. Is the market that hard? I don't know much about these real vintage basses but usually something this old invites a plethora of lusting comments, even if they are only "show us yer pot codes", "will you take my 1st born in trade?". Even the re-fin ones.
16.
Believe me that's not an age thing. I play with guys in their mid forties who fit all of the above including throwing their toys out of the pram and not answering texts.
You ain't a drummer called Jeff are you
17. Photos would be good, but Japanese 62 re issues had that earthing strip. Not uncommon basses but good. Should also have a strap pin on back of headstock. Serial number and crafted or made in Japan should be on back of neck, just above where it meets the body. There is a Fender dater site as well, just google it. Cheers, Karl.
18. Thanks guys. As ever some agree, some don't, that's life. None the less, I can only react with my instincts and how I would have done it. Rehearsals, by the way, are used for working out new stuff, or changing current songs arrangements.
19. They put it on middle of last year. Some folk were trying to get round fees with the bass (for example) £100 and postage £400. So now, on PAINPal it's 10% of sale, 10% of postage and 3.4% of that total. £250 +£25 postage. £27.50 + £9.35 = £36.85. ie almost 15% of your sale price. Ouch. When more people twig, sale prices will go up further and buyers will foot the bill.
20. Cheers Andy, May just put the Nate up for sale. Good luck with your sale, cheers, Karl.
21. Andy, just wondering if you still have this, and would consider a few month old Nate Mendel Precision, plus £475? You can only tell me to boil ma heid!
22.
This. Some people are just really bad at communicating. They may not have meant any harm. On the other hand, I think that good bands usually have a genuine rapport between the members. That usually aids meaningful communication. Did you have good comms with your band mates before this situation arose, or was it always a bit crap?
Usually good , although one of the guitarists has moments of being a tad unthinking and forthright with comments on Faecesbook. Which as probably most of us know, can come back and bite you. One of his little FB escapades got us banned from a big North West venue for 3 years
23. TimR drummer had texted me (post#10), indeed, several times now, and yes you and I obviously do have different perspectives. Not really an issue. From your own comment, you would have hacked me off. In my opinion, their actions do and will have a direct affect on me. I know you are not my enemy. Yet.
24. Sorry, no it's a 4 piece. We have been playing as a 3 piece for the last three months as one of the guitarists broke his foot. He is back for his return gig on April 12th. In the 3 months he has been away, I have had to go to the drummers, pick up the PA as he has been storing it. Then take it to the gig, then take it back to the drummers after the gig. Then go home. A recent gig, close to my home would have been a fabulous 7.15 leave home. To perform the above, I actually had to leave home at 6.10. That, either side of each gig, or we would, as a band, have had to cancel the last three months gigs. That is all irrelevant to be honest, I did it willingly,in a Victor Meldrew kinda way . The hurting part is I found out about them getting the other band back together, by accident, on Faecesbook.
25. Thanks Gary, appreciated. 6v6, I've been playing, badly, for almost 40 years. In bands, off and on for perhaps 30+ of those years. I've never been in more than one band at a time. I have never wanted to be. I have never wanted to have split loyalties with the folk I'm working with at the time. Yes. I realise that's not everybody's "bag" and I realise others will wish to spread their talents about. If they had told me before I saw the announcement on FB, it would have been fine. And yes, I am that much of a tart.
