1. I tried and liked Rotosound Nexus strings, I liked the sound , tension, feel and look. However I occasionally play with a pick and it takes the coating off. How to Black Beauties fair?
2. I've dismantled it ready for fret leveling and re-finishing. Before starting I marked the worst offending frets for buzz and while removing the machine heads noticed that they too are Lindo branded (nothing on the pickups) I am 99.99999999999999999999999999% certain that this is not a Jackson. All work is being carried out while wearing a Mack Trucks bassball cap.
3. I will as soon as I start work on it. Supposed lindo from Gumtree , note the logo free pickups, the neck extends two frets beyond the last marker (22 fret neck) and pointy upper horn: Jackson bass , note pickups, rounded horns, (another picture shows ) a 24 fret neck with four frets beyond the last marker and what looks like a die cast bridge (my bass has bent tin.) If my bass is a Jackson someone has gone to a lot of trouble to hide that fact.
4. If it's a Jackson then someone has gone to the trouble of applying a lindo decal to the headstock and fitting a Lindo neck plate! I did find an old Gumtree listing for an identical bass , listed as Lindo. Of course it could be the same bass. Looking at the Jackson basses they have more rounded horns.
5. Just for fun, I recently acquired this bass , it's a Lindo (they make some serious crap!) It had no strings , the nut was missing and the fretboard was coming away by the headstock. After some basic repairs I have concluded that it could be made to play quite nicely and would suit my redneck friends The Dooks. The plan is to cover the front of the body and headstock in faux alligator skin, level the frets, raise the pickups and maybe upgrade the hardware. Watch this space.
6. We play music for rednecks , to keep it simple we decided that we'd wear plaid shirts and baseball / trucker caps. (off ebay) we all dressed pretty much like that anyway. I also wear a Strickland Propane T shirt (also off ebay)
7. Any pipes that you can get for £60 will be : A - in the wrong key B- not at concert pitch C- virtually unplayable I used to make and play various types of bagpipe , including ones that played a 1 1/2 octave range that were virtually chromatic. A snip at £1600. https://www.youtube....h?v=MYT4Ksg-7N4
8. For most of the 90's I played a Hohner , these days my main gigging bass for one of my bands is a home made fretless.
9. Hard to say without seeing it in the flesh but the vertical crack doesn't follow the joint exactly so my gut feeling is that it's just in the lacquer.
10. Nice bass! I'm a big fan of Entwistle pickups too, all my basses have them now.
11. Anything will do, it's what you play that counts. I play folk/rock and I've used an acoustic bass , a twin neck precision (fretted/fretless) ,Fender Jazz, telebass (with P pickup) and now a home made headless thing with jazz pickups. I'd go with the jazz if you're do a Dave Pegg but otherwise anything will do as long as you and the band like the sound and you're comfortable playing it. You have a Stingray, it's good so far , you have the right bass.
12. "You're on at 12 so report to the stage by 11" We turn up at 11, nobody around. We ask the bar staff who direct us through a flap at the back of the tent where the sound man could be found. We wake up the sound man who stumbles out and starts assembling a PA. 12.15 the "stage manager" puts in an appearance, tells us to get a move on , then goes outside to sunbathe with her friends. At 12.45 we start. Thankfully we did get to play the full set . I can only assume that the timing issues only became a problem later in the day. I didn't stick around as after walking around for an hour and being directed from one side of the site to the other I never did find out where I was supposed to camp.
13. What are they going to look like after 30 years of gigging?
14. Mine in it's current incarnation. It's very neck heavy so the strap button at the neck end is extended and the other end is fixed 1/3 of the way along the body.
15. What did you paint it with?
16. I have a home made tele (profile pic) , it has a modern P pickup but I'm thinking of going for a single coil. They have a unique sound, nice and punchy but perhaps lacking the extreme bottom end of a modern P.
17. Lead vocal duties mean I get stuck at the front! In my main band I'm one of three singers so it's our lead guitarist who tends to get whatever space is left over.
18. Laney- I needed a replacement speaker, my email was answered within the hour , replacement arrived the next day and cost me about a quarter of what I had expected to pay. Line 6 - attempting or order a part for a pedal board for a customer at work. I call the service department several times, I eventually get through to a miserable disinterested man who tells me I have to fill in their on line request form. He sends me the form , most of which isn't relevant to this case, I fill it in as best I can and return it. A few days pass , I call again several times nobody answers, time passes, I wait...I tell the customer we are unable to get the part , time passes...two years in fact...maybe they aren't interested?
19. A lot of cheaper brands have no silks, I use "Meridian" strings on some basses , no silks , great tone, tension about the same as D'Adarios. (Part of the Westfield brand now defunct)
20. It now has a 1/4" jack, what did it have before?
21.

the World needs this!
22. Not sure if these exist but they should: A Flinstones themed AC~DC tribute called AC~BC A tartan clad bagpipe wielding Metallica tribute called McTallica
23.
Haha brilliant! Any recordings of this?? Would love to hear it
Not yet but soon.... (until then you'll just have to imagine Johnny Cash singing it)
24.
Consistently for us it is the Steve Earle country classic 'Copperhead Road', which never ceases to amaze me as we aren't a country band playing to country audiences.
We do that too!
25. A hill Billy version of Club Tropicana!
