You know what would be rather cool - a 2x12" or 2x15" with the speakers wired to separate input jacks so you can run separate amps to each woofer. Alex
Now THAT is an idea worth working on! You can have dual channel heads...why not dual channel cabs? LOL imagine a 4x10 with channels for the top and bottom 2 so you can fire a fair ammount of highs into the top 2 and normal sound to the bottom 2. You could even do the dual channel distortion / clean thing too (I think that's what this thread was saying too). I think you should try this on a Barefaced cab as a prototype. You seem to be doing things very differently from anyone else so why not? I still would love to test one of your cabs one day...just due to time preassure with my band I couldn't wait out...Love the thought of the Big One still.
 2.
i know Wonder how 500 watts of terror would sound going through a Compact.................... They also hinted that a 1000 watt terror would make an appearance soon ish but he could have been talking rollox
Bloody hell...Need a whole lot of life savings for that! Never been to keen on Orange for bass but I love the sound of my mates Orange Rockerverb for guitar. And that's £1500 for 50 watts!!! (As a bassist that sounds so weedy lol!)
 3. BadAss on my P-bass...Heavy reliable bridge for a heavy bass! I've used Gotoh and Schaller on prev. projects and the BadAss was best...don't see how it makes the action high like some folk say though...No shim is present here. It's great...Massive mass (LOL!) and the best, no sideways movement. I like the spacing on my P-bass obviously...why would I want it wider? Now a Schaller on a 5-string fair enough...
 4.
You just reminded me of the American Pie superglue incident
LOL! "Put your hands up!" "I can't!"
 5.
Just found out that the Terror bass has a switch on the side to allow 500 watts output at either 4 and 8 ohms.
Omg!
 6.
Kongo sold me his unused Dr. Parts (Dr. Farts ) neck. Smooth transaction and good with the old PMs. Cheers man. Rich.
Thanks. Sorry to hear it needs a little work though...Mine fit straight on...LOL on the Dr. Farts part. Either way, enjoy and thank you.
 7.
Glad to hear Quad is doing ok - I had a rehearsal with a Rush tribute band there about 18months ago and I was impressed. Bob liked the sound of the amp rig and was impressed by the lightweight nature, so perhaps I kind of sold MB to him!
LOL! All you hear at Quad is covers bands in the Foyer so that sounds about right. They still have some naff amps...although they changed one after I constantly complained about it...I mean come on! They put an Ampeg SVT head on top of 2 PA (yes PA) 18" speakers...all I got was no EQ response and just a load of mud...nasal mids too! But they gone now...although one of those speakers is now under a Warwick Ned Pro and I must say, coupled with an cab that can do clarity they do work...just not 2 on thier own! Now there are 2 Markbass SD800 heads and one 15" can and one 4x10" cab...but that 4x10" scares me as the speakers look like they are gonna launch out at any minute! Yet exactly the same settings with my Trace...Meh, the speakers want MORE! ANother guy that works there, Rob, he used to study at the same music college and we got some feedback from him yesterday so they are very in with the bands when you become regular. Shot some pool too.
I spent a lot of time at Quad doing some session work a few years ago, great place. Im a Leicester lad too, all my life till i moved to Cheltenham just under two years ago. They say true Leicester folk navigate by telling you Bruccianis things are near lol! Oh and i use a full Mark bass rig downsized from a Trace UBER stack too!
Ah another "Chizzit"! *sigh* well I'm cak to using my first head, a Laney RB9 and I must say...it doesn't cut what the Markbass did...I DO love the heads, just not the cabs. I MAY and I say MAY yet mate my Trace cab / cabs (another one soon) with a Markbass SD800 but they cost a bomb! Still, I DID get my perfect tone with it but then again, I also get great tone with Trace too...
 8.
I think the price tags on the new Fenders are ludicrous.
+1 they go way too far with the prices! Myself I'm a bit standofish about going ahead with a USA jazz as one I played @ Reverb had a raised fret! For a bass over £1000 that's a bit much but...I'd love a Deluxe Jazz V...gah! I'm currently saving to go on a hunt for the Jazz 24 V...That's worth chasing for me and it's Korean LOL! So that's MIK? LOL!
 9.
I have used Quad in the past - it might have been me that influenced the guy to go Markbass!
Good news...Bob is a great guy with a vision for giving muso's what they deserve, a good place to chill and rehearse...Not a dive! I go with one member an hour early and chill in the Foyer...I will do so today and and tomorrow. It's great...and the rehearsal rooms have plush carpets / rugs and sofas and stuff...it's great!
 10.
Just for the attention of the general public: This is a cheap way to get square (think Nintendo) or sawtooth (think G-Funk) waveforms from your bass guitar, should be useful paired with a good filter. Certainly much cheaper than the alternatives (Moog FreqBox, Korg G5, Octavius Squeezer, etc.), but I've never had one of these so I can't comment on how practical they are.
Well you can control the LFO manually with a volume pedal. They have lots of options, 2 dials and 2 stacked dials...but I never found a practical use out of it. All I could do was set the LFO to sweep real slow for ultra sub, make it sound like a squelchy frog or like someone was drilling the wall next door (Set a saw wave for that one)...But for funk, techno and Disco this pedal would be ultra useful.
 11.
For anyone who doesn't know the remote parts of Essex - that 'Secret Nuclear Bunker' sign is for real. Makes me snigger every time I drive by.
LOL! Not so secret then? Anyways, it's good to see that even though there is a craze for new gear at the mo (Such as Markbass which I have used to up until now) that there is still love for the heavy weighted green and mean stuff. Indeed it is a tone unmatched. It's good to have the pre-shape on footswitch too..I don;t like it on all the time as I like my mids but stomp on it when you might wanna cut through with some slap or tapping and then stomp it back off...it's awesome!
 12.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Jazz-Bass-24-...93%3A1|294%3A50
Yeah I saw that last night...3 weeks too early I'm afraid!!!
Well, I wouldn't go so far. It is true that many things have been introduced since Leo sold Fender to CBS - just think about the singray. But it doesn't seem to me that Fender has completely lost its talent in adopting good market strategies. Simply, Fender has better succedeed in promoting a "retro image" for today's bassist. which is kind of a challenging task. to put it straight: Fender's client base is demanding a traditional bass - which may also happen to be spiked with pots, but has to look and feel as a fender bass. obviously, this is not an absolute value, and many people can easily live without it. Yet Fender's offer is addressed to players of this kind, and it's not really big deal. You just have to know which featuresa are important for you in a bass, wheter it's a fender or not.
Well I've decided that next time I get paid after I get my Trace head I'm gonna track one of these down...it will be good fun and rewarding in the end. I LOVE Fender basses but 24 frets is a good option if you enjoy tapping or just want the neck heel joint moved down so the 17th fret is easier to reach...just flexability options really. But if they only made this for a short time and in short order...they are the Fender for me, Korean or not I never did care about contires...Hell I only want a USA Jazz cause of the features...MMmmmm...Maple... I could well use one of these and tweak things to my liking...add a scratchplate (gonna have to make on to fit)...maybe change the pre-amp if I actually use it. A ramp...maybe even a maple fingerbaord conversion and voila! A Jazz 24 like no other. That 6-string shows that Fender can do modern age too...though for Steve Bailey I guess they'd do anything LOL! I am going to try some 'Rays soon just I cannot afford one, hence the OLP project and THEN I'll see. But I think I'll defo save up and track one of these down.
 13. If your used to an MM pup bass then the Jazz bass will sound thinner...it's just it's tone...Pure biting slap and you can get a good finger tone. At the moment I'm actually dropping my modern basses for Fender designs...That's Fender, Musicman and G&L...they all work for me tone and feel.
 14. Bought a Dr Parts 21 fret P-bass neck off of me...at the time had no choice but wire transfer...Done no quibbles! Payment was made swift and after I got the address the neck was shipped...and arrived no problemo!
 15. Back up for sale...Bump! Ain't no one wanting this?
 16.
Well, its a specific Bass EQ, so its meant to be dealing with the lower end of things :-p Its good, when you really get it going, especially mid to high it can get a bit hissy, but nothing too intrusive, especially at gigging volumes, but prob not ideal for studio use. I always think the thing about behringer stuff is that its a good way to try an effect/pedal. If its not you, no big financial loss... Alex.
In my experience, some of these are identical to or better than Boss soundwise...but no way build wise. Though the Boss OC range remains untouched by said company.

 18.
These are bril! Bright and lively - and the same size as the 4x10. Great stand-alone cab. If I didn't have one.... Mine is clean, and was a snip at £250.
Nice Trace cab! C'mon folks, you know you wanna...Just bought a rocking cab meself.
 19.
I'd wait if I were you. A new line of Rockbasses is coming out this summer. They will have a two piece bridge and lose the cheesy "Rockbass" logo. Have a look at this thread on the Warwick forum. Note the tasty looking fortress fretless. http://www.warwick.de/forum/phpBB2/viewtop...174&start=0
Any news on releases for these? I've found nothing on a date. Be awesome if they made a Rockbass $$ 5-string as well as 4!
 20.
I managed to snag a black J24 5-string before they were discontinued. Great bass, Basslines pickups with big super-J tone and a nice wide, easy-to-play neck. You do see them around second-hand on eBay occasionally in the UK, and there's a bunch of them on the US eBay if you don't mind the cost of importing.
Yes indeed, I have 1/4 pounder J-pups in a Yamaha I was gonna overhaul once...VERY hot beefy sound! I'd imagine the normal ones to be the same...But you can buy 1/4 5-stringers as well. I never changed the P-pup and it sorta overpowers it haha! So yeah, being pre-installed is great! I REALLY want one of these in the stealth black...I'd make my own scratchplate (Fenders look naked without!) but the matching black headstock, the 4-over-1 config and those 24 frets make it a PERFECT Jazz bass for me...Hell, it's not a Yankee but this would be perfetc for me! Then track down the 4-string when I have spare cash (this be for home) and have an Urge-a-like feel...and if you install a p-pup you have a hom made Urge II! But I'm more interested in the 5-string...Good to hear they were built well though. Proper good, string through body too...
I'm pretty curious about this bass too. But, frankly speaking, I'm not really surprised about the fact it's now discontinued. What Fender is all about is tradition, and a 24 fret jazz bass might have been too much for its client base. nonetheless the introduction of the Steve Bailey model is an interesting change.
Yes, the 6-string behemoth! Thing is, Fender never have known WHAT to do since Leo sold it...still to this day...And so one month they want modern, to attract the current Gen that are buying Ibanez and Yamaha and many other brands that offer some options other than colour... Then they say, screw this, we are about tradition!!! LOL! It's a shame...After I buy my head I think I really should look for one...Not too keen on the Tobacco Burst or Cherry Burst...It's the Stealth Black for me.
 21. GAS made me change! I went from modern, to moderner (lol) and now I GAS for more vintage models after finally finding out that, after years of shunning them, Fender designs work for me!...If only they had more options fret and price wise. Then I find ANYTHING Leo created works for me...Now THAT is some expensive GAS! But how much better is my current bass? Like all I seem to buy, they ain't, I'm just test driving for a LONG time till I find it. I could settle for an American Jazz deluxe...22 frets...maple board...4-over-1 tuner config...Pearloid plate...active electronics I'll never use...Mmmmm...
 22.
Ah! Leicester-boy! My old stompin' ground! Not too far away from The Master! (moi!) X
LOL, peterborough...land of the flat. If your ever in Leicester check "Quad Studio's"...things have changed since the days of the crappy rehearsal rooms with floorboards you could fall through...(did someone say "Stayfree"?) You'll know when your near as my Trace will be causing an earthquake and you'll smell Markbass a mile away...Every room has em now I think (markbass)...
 23. I always wanted these and when they made them in 5-string as well it was a match made in heaven! a Jazz bass...check!...5-string?...CHECK! But what's that? 24 frets!? That ain't Fender...I must have! They not long ago cut a few colours and added a stealth black...All black, no scratchplate (I'd add later) and black matching headstock... You could buy them last year and early this year I think but now everywhere says they've gone and even Fender have removed them from their models list. Why did these vanish so fast? I woulda though't a Fender Jazz with 24 frets would be quite welcome...Hell, the 4-string version just screams DIY Urge II Bass. Were they built real bad and they were culeld because of that? They were Korean but so are my Ibanez's. I can't right now but in a few months I'll be looking for one of these so if anyone can point me in the direction where they might be or if they come up on ebay I'd be thankful...It's everything I could want and more! Hell I'd want both a 4 and 5-string...PLay some Stu Hamm at home on a Jazz would be heaven! So...the Fender Jazz 24...a model with so much promise...dead already...
