1. Pretty nifty....But why does it have to be Sunburst?
 2. Wow that's a nice bass! I cannot buy any more until I can get round to shifting mine. I have a few I could trade but it depends on what you want.
 3. Shimming the end of the neck pocket also makes the actiob even throughout so even if you like your current action but would like it the same all along the fretboard you can shim for that too.
 4.
My word that is very cool indeed!!! I thought about tuning my Status 5 F# B E A D... but the Zero Fret + string guide bit would make it a non-reversible mod on the guide. Arse.
Also the bridge... although Conklin do taper wind the strings but if you get a DarkLord steing set be warned they are NOT taperwound and you will NOT get it through the bridge without drilling...and if it's a through body forget it! Try experementing on a decent but cheaper bass so you get a good sound, but it doesn't matter if it doesn't work instead of working on your Status right now. You can try 34 or 35 scale...Conklin strings will go out to about 36 I think...but that also depends on your string post width. I would love to try a non-taper .190 or .175 for some palm muting fun, just for the hell of it. I don't normally play with a pic but some meaty palm muting would be awesome. Again, amplification. Your gonna need some watts and then some and a cab that can handle a neuclear explosion! I guess speaker size maybe 15" but, I don't beleive all this speaker size business...My Trace Elliot 4x10 handles a Low-B fine and screams for more so you could try something similar. The video on Youtube with that guy playing the DarkLord sucks...He's sposed to be a big metal bass legend...But there is NO sound coming from that Low-F# he just has it too low and it frets out. Trust me the real deal, string and tuning wise not the exact bass, sounds real nice when you get it right! If I could find a 6-string that has the tone I have found recently in Jazz basses I would go for it again. I don't use the High-C as much as I used to...I think a Low-F# would be better for tapping for that piano sound. BTW, Rotosound are releasing a string set called "Drop Zone+" and it's .175 - .135 - .105 - .85 set similar to DarkLord...not sure when they will hit the shops though...
 5.
Just sold Kongo my OLP, Fine chap to deal with immediate payment, good friendly messages, pleasure to deal with Cheers Gary
How life should be and likewise, a pleasure doing business. The OLP is great...built very well...can't see why they went out of business.

Unfortunatly, bank holiday always messes up delivery times but the item was sent quickly. Also arrived in absolutly mint condish asside the already pointed out fault. Thanks a lot for this man! Been meaning to try one out.

 9.
Hey same experience with my Squier VMJ, totally ridiculously good for the money! En
I've been thining about getting a Squier Deluxe Jazz V and after hearing that everyone else is getting what I get from Squier I may just do that.
 10.
Defo, some basses are just 2 blocks of wood... with a bit of work done on them...And some of them have pretty fancy names... If you like the feel of it in your hands and you get the sound that you like... then that is a good bass for you... You can invest in fancy woods...if that is your thing...and you can get bases that are pure works of art... Does that make it a better bass....? not really..not if it doesn't do what you want it to do...
I went for all these modern concepts...Fancy, exotic woods...18volt active 3 band EQ...drew a line at fanned frets... But you get the picture...anyways they didn't work for me and off they went...now I cannot afford such gear again but my cheaper gear sounds better than said basses ever did! Nowerdays I just go for tried and tested models. If it sounds good I'm not bothered about the wood. LOL I mean, MusicMan use Basswood for their new Bongo 6-string y'know...Basswood! Can't be that bad then.
 11.
The point is vibration isn't just "vibration"! The tone of the vibration is very important, unless you play punk or metal! A solid bodied instrument is not going to resonate as a hollow bodied instrument would, but the better the resonance in the instrument the better the tone of the vibration in the string, so the pickup starts with a better tone to work with.
I play metal but I'm all about my tone. Bass plays a bigger part in modern metal these days y'know. I feel wood is as important as electronics. I have a bass that sounds really woody un-amplified and guess what...amplified it sounds...really woody! Likewise, I have one that sounds very clean and bell like...and amplified it sounds?...Yep, clear and bell like. All you've done is added electronic volume...Pickups also play the part but if a bass sounds woody un-amplified it will sound woody regardless.
 12.
Audere pramp sold pending payment
Are these simple to wire? I'd have no clue where to start otherwise if it don't go through I think I can use this. Will fit any top cavity Jazz right?
 13.
Can someone loan me the money for a Compact? Everyone has to financially support Alex so that when I am ready (and able) to buy then he's still here.
Same here...I was gonna gets me a Big One but time wise couldn't wait out and went with my original plan for now. Really want one of these some day though.
 14.
I went past WHSmith without looking as well, pah ! Will pick up a copy when I can.
I can't find this mag anywhere! Only Bass Player which is US. Seems Barefaced are gonna make it big eh? Uh-oh...Middle man prices added...advertising prices added...Yikes buy one now!
 15. LOL Still got my Zoom 506 original.
 16. I still got the original. Proper retro early commercially succesful multi effects processor!
 17. Great, powerful and robust cab. Forget about uber lightweight folks, this will deliver huge sound and won't fart out.
 18.
36" is custom territory. There are 35" 4 string but I can't think of any .
Ibanez BTB & Peavey Cirrus come to mind.
 19. I had my Ibanez BTB556MP tuned - F# B E A D G - once...Just so I could get under the drop-B guitars. I used a Conklin .190 string...I find .175 isn't enough...it wasn't flappy at all. The sound was HUGE and thunderous, like a piano when slapped or tapped. Only problemo is there ain't a lot of amps out there than can deliver that low note clearly. I decided in the end, cost being a factor also, to go back to standard 6-string. If I had a 7 though...I'd drop the high string for a Low-F# again any day. And yeah, Dood played a 7-string with this...He's in a project with Pin from Sikth at the mo.
 20. I took to a Squier Jazz too...saving for a Fender or something similar but basically put, glad you liked it! It's funny how you find a great sound where you were sure it wasn't.
 21.
Aguilar....but they are heavy....not sure of the model
Yeah. But remember, once you put it down your not carrying it anymore so +1 on this idea.
 22. Don't make instruments like this no more. (well they do...I'm just savouring the moment)
 23. I'll keep an eye on this one. I'm looking for a 5-string fretless for some delicate playing with my band on a new song that could use some "Bass crooning" that fretless delivers so well. Amp head first though.
 24.
Maybe you could arrange sort kind of a time share with some other potential buyers - you could all pay about 15 percent each and all have a specific day of the week that you can play the instrument on. Or maybe not...
LOL! I did prefere his older Yammie but from playing 34" scale 5-string for 2 months now from 35" scale I find the low-B to be perfect...I don't get this floppy low-b thing? So this being a 6-string with 34" scale is interesting.
