In the words of DanOwens... As an electronic bassist, the Low Pass Filters is your best friend. Low Pass Filters (or LPFs) serve many practical functions but the way they work is they let the ‘Low’ sounds ‘Pass’ through it. That is – they remove the high sounds from your signal. At which point in the audio spectrum they do this depends on the filter’s cut-off point, determined by the ‘Cut-off’ control. The ‘Resonance’ control creates a boost at the cut-off point, making it more pronounced. If the LPF is your best friend, the ‘Resonance’ control is their bad breath. Watch out!! We’re going to use the LPF in two main ways: the first is to create a static, ‘sub’ sound. If we ‘close’ the filter so it only lets very low frequencies pass and boost the resonance a bit, we are effectively turning the treble and middle knobs on our amp right down to 0 (or -15db as is more commonly found) and turning the bass control on our amp up to 10 (or +15db). This is the sound that will shake glasses off shelves and irritate neighbours 4 streets away. We like this! Remember to be careful of that resonance control though. Turning it up too high will be like turning the bass control up to 20 or 30 and can totally annihilate speakers, PAs and eardrums. The second use of the LPF is to create filter sweeps. This is where we move the filter cut-off point across the audio spectrum creating a wah-wah like effect (but one that doesn’t sound rubbish). You could sweep the cut-off over an 8-bar build or across single notes, the best thing to do it experiment. To do this though, you need to be able to move the filter cut-off whilst playing your bass with your hands. As such the sweep is usually done via an expression pedal operated by your foot.

Only so everyone can find them in a search… is 99% of people call them Kettle leads and you actually want to sell some then calling them 'kettle' leads on the website is a pretty good call! -

Correct. Its a 3 pin IEC cable! If whatever you get your hands is not long enough, the place I used to work do them from 1m - 10m and they are pretty damn cheap as well… http://www.audiospares.com/home.php?cat=724 -
Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!

I've had a good play with the Murf… In essence the Slicer does a 'similar' job of the sequencer side and between everything else I have I can recreate the filtered sounds. You could argue that it could therefore replace a few pedals on the board, but the only reason I haven't is that the slicer has a pattern that formed the basis of a popular track we play and so for now at least it has to stay… I'm sure i'll get a Murf one day though Actually 2 LPF's would be amazing… one generating dark dubstep wobbles via the MP-201 and the other on expression sweep to swell in and out the wobbles…. hmmmm -

No real changes here, but the cabling is all neat and tidy now. This has proven to do it's job for me very well! Corvid fuzz likey to be replaced with a gated fuzz very soon. Other than that - it's all staying! -

Hmmm... Often the nut vibrations travel along the string and get amplified at the bridge, hence that suggestion. If all the screws and bolts at the bridge are tight it narrows it down! Are the strings ball ended? If so, are the balls clamped tight against the bridge or are they moving. Sometimes thicker strings don't slot through all the way and the ball end can move. Odd it would be amplified loudly but worth a go. Also, do you use strap locks? Is so take the strap and locks off the bass and try again as my Schallers sometimes rattle unless I'm stood up pulling it tight. Shep
They're not tracking anything though are they? They're just re-sampling the input signal and reproducing it at the desired pitch. Harmony is different and requires pitch recognition and if it's going to be polyphonic it will introduce even worse latency problems and all sorts of nonsense. Regardless of how new a pedal is it won't fix the fundamental problem with the physics of pitch-tracking a bass note.
What he said!

Sorry to thread hi-jack... On a similar note I've had a stiffness start over recent months in my right hand. When I don't use the hand for prolonged periods it stiffens up and the little finger and Ring finger almost lock, so bending them causes them to almost click in and out of joint. This lasts about 10 minutes while I fight through the pain and then it loosens up. This occurs almost every morning (as the hand isn't moved during my sleep), but also at times I've noticed it such as when in the cinema after not moving and watching a film for 2 hours, and last week I stood at a gig with my hands in pockets for about an hour and it started then as well. It's only ever the right hand, and only ever those 2 fingers. Once the hand loosens up it's fine, as such it's not interfered with my playing, but it is concerning... Anyone experienced anything similar?

My Bassline universal fretless is still up for part ex.... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=131076 P.S. I've tidied the thread a little for you, it was 3 pages long and more than 1 page worth was the word 'bump'. It's a little easier to follow now!

2 things I'd check. 1.All the little screws in the saddles are screwed so they actually rest on the bridge. I had one saddle only resting on 1 screw and tr other vibrated like mad. 2.check the nut slots. Playthe string you notice it on the most whilst applying a little pressure behind the nut (before the string meets the machine head). It could be some brands are slightly thinner and the strin is rattling in the nut. This is quite common. Try a heavier gauge string or put a tiny bit of paper aside the string in the but and see if it still happens. Shep

Looks awesome. But as stated above - my go it's huge. I can't see it being any use to me in my Drum & Bass set up as I only use the whammy for 2 specific functions which the regular one does great. I'm happy to keep the older one on the board as compared to the M9 I find it's tonal qualities are a little smoother. Not sure I can explain but the whammy just sounds 'nicer' though the swells and dive bombs. The new one certainly isn't something for me, but if your buy one, Mark, I'll have a play
