1. Folks - Ideas for 'slanting' my massive pedalboard. I use a diago tourman and need to use something to place under the back of the board so it slopes up slightly. Sounds simple, but ti much be something that a heavy board won't slide off on a solid stage floor when I push against the pedals at the back where its raised. Must also be something that will fit in a bag with my stuff, so a number of small wedges maybe? Shep
2. I've emailed Dan @ GigRig to get his take on it… and specifically with the use of an active bass (all references mention what wonders it does for the sparkle of an electric guitar tone, as opposed to the fatness of a bass). I'll let ya'll know when I hear back.
3. All good dude! We now have 2 electronica/dubstep threads going… We're taking over!
4.
Hm thanx Maybe you know any other low pass filters with exp input? Cant find
Just the Moog & the Iron Ether one off the top of my head. Oh, and I think you can do Low Pass with the M9/M13 and expression - Queue Dan Owens to clarify…?
Btw, have jus tlistened to your band Nice tunes Gave it a Like in Facebook
Thanks bud, appreciate the feedback!
5.
Awesome setup dude.
Agreed! Setups done get much more 'boutique' than that!
6. Maybe - Difference is that the Enigma, like many pedals is predominantly an Envelope filter/Auto Wah, which can also be used for Low Pass/High Pass/Band Pass etc. Pedals Like the Moog MF-101, Iron Ether etc are dedicated Low Pass Filters, that can also be used for envelope/Wah duties. My experience has proven that you should use a Low Pass Filter of you need a Low Pass Filter, and an Envelope Filter for Envelope duties. It's generally a given that a pedal is generally better at exactly what it's designed for. As such I have an LPF and a Envelope Filter on my board. If cost is the issue - Keep an eye on eBay, my Moog LPF was £110 on eBay, which is not much more than buying a EHX pedal like the Enigma. Shep
7.
Well, then i think i could get some similar stuff out of my digitech xbw
Quite possibly.
8.
That would be veary interesting. Because i cant find any info on internet or sound samples of fm600 on bass
Just had a look at it's details and as far ad I can see it doesn't have an expression input? Meaning the LPF would be either just set to a specific point or swept by the envelope it generates. I'd imagine it could do some good sounds, but you'd be unable to do any of the synth sweeps etc... Unless you can set the envelope speed as well as the cutoff, which I imagine you can't. I'm told these are VERY good - http://www.effectsdatabase.com/model/ironether/xerograph
9. If you have lots of true bypass it obviously defeating the point... My signal chain includes 4 MoogerFoogers, a Whammy IV & 2 Double Pedal Boss units, plus lots more... Those I just listed all have a reputation for tone suck, the 'foogers particularly 'colour' your tone. I do notice a some top end loss and over all 'fatness' - which I EQ back in on the amp. This compensated sound though is obviously not quite the same tonally speaking as the original sound.
10. Stumbled across this - http://www.thegigrig.com/acatalog/Z_Cable_catalog.html I'm a huge fan of GigRig stuff, and being the user of a massive pedal board/signal chain I'm quite interested. A google search shows lots of people opinions based on what's written about it, but there's seems to be no one out there that's actually tried one. I know it's strictly impossible put put back the exact flavour of tone lost through pedals and buffers, but I'd like to think it's significantly better than a little clean boost with a passive tone dial. Don't suppose a basschatter has had a go? Long shot I know... Shep
11. Would consider trades/part ex with... EBS NeoDrome12 EBS HD350 EBS Neoline 110 EBS Neoline 112 Shep
12.
Thanx for xplanation And what do you think abotu Behringer fm600 as a lpf?
I don't have any personal experience with it. The 1st LPF I ever tried was the Moog one and it's the one only one I've ever really used. I'm very happy with the sound so never really shopped around. I'm sure the Behringer has been discussed on this thread (if not, then definitely somewhere in the effects forum) and from what I read, it seems it does a very good job, especially given it's very reasonable price point. Hopefully someone who has hands on experience will give some more input here for you. Shep
13. Most of it will be coming from the synth player - but also his MP-201 will be midi sync'd to the midi clock of the synth so he can use LFO's that run in perfect time with song. He does use an M9 for a few sounds etc too and as that can do an awful lot, it could be part of it. Shep EDIT - Just listened again - Sounds like it's all LFO through the MP-201 into the cutoff of the LPF. He's controlling the rate of LFO with his foot.
14. His board is quite similar to mine. He uses 5 MoogerFoogers including the LPF and an MP-201. His fuzz sounds come from a Woolly Mammoth, Subdecay noisebox & Freqbox.
15. Fat Burning Step video from a recent rehearsal - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2WakGtMMh4...be_gdata_player Bond doing some pretty interesting stuff… Bad news… I have had a play with some different routing and cleaning up my signal and due to some fantastic results it looks as though my board may be growing, just a little bit more
16. Also, Bassline Universal 5 Fretless This is an interesting shaped 5 string Fretless that ad well as being worn on a strap, has an end pin and a stand so it can be used in the same member of an EUB. Lovely even tone and the construction is great... That 1 piece flamed ash body with the neck contour is gorgeous!
17. Here's my Roscoe 6... Love the Diamondwood board with aluminium fret lines - such a good combo my incoming Roscoe Custom fretless has the same! Shep
18. Hi folks. Just a feeler and a moment of madness. Up for grabs is my super powerful and super lightweight mini rig. Consists of a Euphonic Audio iAmp Micro 550 - Super powerful micro head. 550w, 2 channels & weighs 1kg (!) and its only 2 months old!!! Also a Euphonic Audio Wizzy 10 cab. Super lightweight 1x10 cab, 250w, great response to the top end and projects a low B stunningly well. The cab comes with an EA Wizzy backpack that fits the head and cab so you can literally take the bus to gigs with your rig on your back! The pair with the backpack would cost you over £1000 - £525 for the head, £450 for the cab plus extra for the backpack. Both are very highly regarded bits of kit and sound fantastic. Amazing volume for such a tiny cab too... With a head powerful enough to drive a big rig too... [s]I'm asking £680 collected in Nottingham (I won't post so please don't ask) which I feel is a bargain for something so new and hardly used. This is just a feeler and if what I have my eye on slips through my fingers, or I come to my senses then this will likely get withdrawn...[/s] Wizzy 10 - [s]£300[/s] Sold EA Micro 550 - [s]£400[/s] Sold pending payment Will also consider trades with... EBS HD350 A show of how compact this really is...
19. Hey Charlie, Shame To see you're giving it up! Miss my Fafner!!! Lovely amp. If I had the money I'd have it back, and if take the cab as well. This is a stunning setup & someone should snap this up!!
20. My pleasure... I'd be interested in your stance and thoughts on the last point. I'm in the lily position where I kinda' am the synth player. As it's just me and a drummer, ad long as it's tight & in time, then nothing is 'wrong'. Nonsuch thing as a wrong note if there's no one else to pitch to or harmonise with We're looking for collaborators for our next EP (have a few vocalists on board already), so I'd be interested in seeing how you guys work around each other in preparation for doing so myself... Shep
21. Theory seems an odd move for the 'Modular Synth' themed blurb. What about... Advantages/disadvantages of buffers in signal chain EQ & Frequency exploration Application of software (ableton etc) in live performance Working with a Synth player (and not stepping on each others toes) Shep
22. About bloody time!!! A very good read & some useful stuff. I actually use very little signal splitting or blending... I do use an LS-2 to have 2 over lapping sounds on a couple of tracks. I aim to spend some real time on splitting the signal chain more so the Sub runs all the time and effect the higher frequencies - bit this will have to wait until I get some time off. When I finally go further down this route I'll prob give you a shout over some advice, Dan. Shep
23. I get ya' - Cheers. I'll have a think...
24.
Yea it can get real expensive real quick. Even Shep acknowledged that it would make little financial sense for a solely bedroom player to invest that heavily in effects. I for one am happy with just my OC2 and Orbit... for now.
My board is insured for about £2k... It's an expensive business...
