Yes, not my main gigging bass anymore but my S2 Classic was my ‘go to’ for about 10 years. I’ve owned a Streamline and earlier model (can’t remember which) lined fretless.

Pickup position, build quality, looks and how well they sit in a live mix. I've had six Ray's and the two Specials I have now are the best of the lot.

I’m impressed. 😎 My two sets of strings arrived today, 11 days after ordering. The cost was £27 per set including shipping from the States. The cheapest I could find in the UK including delivery was £34 per set.

I also had the 500 watt class AB and 800 watt class D versions. As @Sparky Mark said, probably just not commercially viable. I recall when I bought my first one (500w Class AB) it was about £100-£200 more than a LM3. The only real difference was the flexibility to change modules and it looked nicer. Mine originally had the solid state pre-amp module that I later swapped out for the tube pre-amp which I preferred. It worked out cheaper that buying a new amp and I got another few years out of it before moving to something else.

Thanks for the heads up. I've just ordered a couple of sets of DR Sunbeams. Including delivery and tax they appear to be about £8 cheaper per set than from UK sources.

I’ve found DPD to be pretty good so far, particularly for up to date tracking info.

Yes, I gig with two Stingray Specials (a 4H and 4HH). One is tuned a semitone down for certain songs we do but the reason for two almost identical basses is to avoid volume and tonal differences.

Excluding PA and lighting gear, I always take: 2 basses 1 amp 1 cab Pedalboard Leads (including spares) DI box (in case of amp failure) 2 Hercules stands Spare strings Spare batteries

IIRC they used to do some great cover versions on the B side of their singles, including; Silly Thing (Sex Pistols) , I Got You (Split Enz) and Menah Menah (Animal’s song from the Muppets). 😎

I haven't tried the GR AT212 so can't give you a tone comparison but do have the Berg NXT212. The Berg is an easy one person lift so would suggest discounting weight as a deciding issue. Tone-wise I think the NXT212 is great. I'm using it with a Bergantino B|Amp in a fairly loud rock covers band and have found it easily capable of projecting the volume and sound that I want without going through our PA. If you have, or are considering, a B|Amp then the NXT212 makes even more sense due to the speaker profile capability in the amp. As with anything, try before you buy if possible. That said, I bought the NXT212 without trying it based on reputation and previous experience with the B/Amp and AE410 cab and it has lived up to my expectations.

The HP has additional features to the standard Forte as well as the extra power. I’ve heard nothing but positive views on the HP and there have been several free updates to the HP made available to existing owners by Jim Bergantino. I would recommend anyone to check out these amps and also the B|Amp.

Yes, I have tried swapping channels and using the Auto/channel scan option but I’m still getting the dropouts unfortunately. I suspect you’re right about interference. I don’t have the same issue with the Sennheiser XSW-D in the exact same location so I guess that is better at rejecting interference than the G10S. The Sennheiser will be on my pedalboard for live use and I’ll keep the G10S as I can live with the dropouts for home practice.

I'm experiencing regular dropouts with the Line 6 G10S during home use. These are no more than a second but it's enough for me not to trust it for gigs. I like the form factor and (as I bought a used one) I've live with this for home practice. I've had no issues with the Sennheiser wireless (see below) so that will be on my pedalboard for live use from now. https://en-uk.sennheiser.com/xsw-d-pedalboard-set

I always take two basses. Shortly prior to lockdown, one had lowered tuning needed for 2 songs in our set as it was quicker to change bass for these than re-tune before and after these songs. Having said that, I've always taken a spare as I don't want to be the person that causes a gig to stop if anything happens to my bass (luckily I've only had one failure in 20+ years of gigging). I've also enjoyed the opportunity to play two different basses at a gig rather than have one bass that get's played all of the time and the others never leaving the house.

I’ve just tried the G10S with my active basses (Stingray Special and a Status) and I’m glad to say that it is working as expected without any obvious issue. I’ve not done a comparison with my Sennheiser wireless so I guess it will just be personal preference that decides which one goes on my pedalboard and which is for home use.

Thanks Dan. Prior to seeing your reply I bought a used G10S primarily for home use. I’ll try it with my active basses when it arrives and report back. If there is an issue I can either use it with the adapter or sell it for what I paid for it. Regards, Gaz
