1.
When does voting stop ?
Normally 7 days , so as it went up on the 1st , Wednesday midnight would be the deadline
2. After our annual August layoff we had a great gig last night night for a private party in a pub in town , it was in an upstairs function room and we were recommended by the landlord, It was a touch bizarre as there was a band downstairs aswell , upstairs, the party had opened the windows so when you looked out you could see the street rocking and the first floor bar in the hotel across the road had its windows open and they were shouting requests and rocking out aswell !! We have been invited 'darn sarf' to do a party 'at a large house in the country' but we'll wait till they sober up on that one, still we are back at the pub in a fortnight to resume our duties for the punters downstairs , can't wait
3.
Added a Soundcloud link as some were having trouble opening the Dropbox link. Try this: https://soundcloud.c...5/august-noodle
I've added the link to the initial voting post
4. the voting thread is up http://basschat.co.uk/topic/291027-noodle-doodle-voting-time/
5. Voting time is here While It is traditional for the voting to allow up to 3 votes , the entries are a touch thin on the ground this month. The option is there to cast three votes but you can all use your judgement as to whether you feel you need to use them all. Hopefully after the Holiday season the entries will pick up a touch so have a listen to these beauties and cast your vote(s) MoonBassAlpha https://www.dropbox....noodle.mp3?dl=0 alternative for MoonBassAlpha https://soundcloud.com/julian-moss-511168525/august-noodle Agwin https://soundcloud.c...by-mouth-exerpt timhiggins https://soundcloud.c...iv/noodled-haze Twincam https://soundcloud.c...6910/noodle-no8 Dad3353 https://soundcloud.c...-noodle-2016-08
6.
As ever, I'm late to the party - no time to write nor vote in August - no disrespect meant to all the hours of hard work you have all put in. Just listening now.
consider this a personal invite then SEPTEMBER IS GO GO GO http://basschat.co.uk/topic/291026-september-composition-challenge/
7. Septembers Composition Challenge starts Here With a shared win in August there are 2 pictures for your consideration as chosen by Leonard Smalls and Lowdown Leornards choice is " a nice bit of Pollock (being more sustainable than Cod) - no.11 or The Blue Poles:" And Lowdowns choice is an old BW pic of Hitchcock's Bates Motel, So there you have it , as Lowdown succinctly describes " we can have compositions about art that makes you sh*t yourself! " I shall try and do a resize and stitch together later on to make it easier to put on soundcloud , but of course you can choose either picture to use as inspiration or both , but good luck. Small print and Rules etc By entering the competition you agree to the Basschat Terms and Conditions and Forum Guidelines, which are designed to help ensure the forum remains free of offensive and/or illegal behaviour and material. 8. Excellent work gents both well deserved winners on their own As due reward can you choose your picture(s) for our Septembers inspiration and send me the link or Jpeg . You can do seperate ones, or confer to choose a picture between you . Skol Is away in deepest darkest Wales and is internet free by all counts so I am doing the honours for next month. I will set up the thread when I get back from work this evening all being well. Congratulations again
9. As Skol is away I will do the honours of the voting thread tommorrow for him so it will be shortly time time for Augusts last orders at the noodle bar
10. This month has shown a fantastic insight to the inspiration drawn from the picture , from massive inclusivity in a social sense, isolation in a personal sense and some superb contemplative overviews , it has produced the whole gamut ,from fun and frivolous to serious soundtracks and a few in between , quality absolute.
11.
Voted..... Mr Lurksalot has ruined my life. I can't stop singing his song and although I would probably chuck a brick at him if I met him he still deserved a vote. I can't say I liked them all, however, they were all well put together. Excellent piece by mr lowdown also, well done to all and hopefully I'll put an entry in next month.
If you meet me , I am tall , slim but solid, clean shaven and devilishly good looking ........... honest ...... , thanks for the vote , and don't forget .. one on top of the other
12. That just rubs it in !!
13. Cheers guys , I understand reaper is not supported , but if I know what I need to do its not so bad , learning how to faff around each time is a total PITA, especially as I want to play with my new toys , not spend 2 hours trying to open the box
14. I have heard good things about these guys and during a recent special offer giveaway type thing I have bought a few new VST's. , I think they are great and will use them , but the hassle of getting Reaper to load them has been totally off putting. Each time it's the same , the latest attempt being to update reaper and uninstalling waves central snd starting again , is this normal ? If it us I will leave them alone next time
15.
Well there seems to be something in the air this month, as I too have deviated somewhat from my comfortable zone... https://soundcloud.com/nigel-jewell/brooklyne-stinker Nige
Sswwweeeeeeeet
16.
It was NOTHING like a regular electric bass bash last time, I played every bass there if anyone can find the picture of the group shot you will see how many basses there were, more than anywhere I've visited so far that's for sure.
Hows that then Pete It was a brilliant day , I really enjoyed it. My DB hasn't progressed at all since the event , but that is not the fault of the event It is well worth attending even just to meet those offering up their help and advice. Lovely people, some great stories, a good venue that looked after us, some great showmanship , superb instruments to get a feel of and Owens DB in leopard skin pyjamas , what is not to like ? and having said that , I think SWMBO has family plans over that weekend with birthdays etc , so I think I will struggle to attend but if anyone has the slightest leanings or interest in DB, I would wholeheartedly recommend attending without hesitation.
17. I'm in , this one came together quite quick for me ! I took a simple approach this month but had a new toy by way of a Waves Doubler which I have used in great abundance Bricklayers Lament https://soundcloud.com/lurksalot/bricklayers-lament
18. Well done Skol old chap , another quality tooon , I too am honoured to have picked up 6 votes and effectively come joint 2nd
19. I have a bit of decking that is surplus to requirements if anyone is interested . it has been down a while and will need a good jet wash then a new stain , but if anyone is after some they can have it . I even have a load of the 3x2 used to make the framework . quantity wise , approx 32 lengths at 8ft , half a dozen at 4ft and the same at 3ft , for our younger viewers , those sizes are 2.4Mtrs, 1.2Mtrs and about 1Mtr respectively. I am sure it has a good 15 years left in it ! A bit random I suppose , and I guess it will need collecting (Chester) but.............. if you want it , come and get it .............back on topic I took a punt on freecycle as well , bloody hell they are like skip rats!!
20. The bit I used to find a pain was finding the starts and ends , but asking for a good 10s quiet after a the end of each song made It a lot easier to find the gaps !
21. My EV's have a through signal to daisy chain them , but with miss matching brands I wouldn't know whether they apply frequency crossovers to the overall signal or handle the frequency they are best at and pass the complete signal through to the next cab IYSWIM
22. voted , superb tracks much cudos to all ........... again
23. Charity shops , Joe browns and I have a couple of sh*teShirts , they are quite horrible , the worst part is the logo on the front though https://www.sh*teshirts.com/products/sh*teshirts
24. we had a great weekend , following from the Saturday party , we had a wedding to do on the Sunday , as it was up the coast and paying very well , I booked a room at the posh(ish) hotel and took the family , as did rhythm guitar. We set up really early , which was just as well as the venue had a stage set up which was far too small, but a chat with the manager and it was all taken away in time ,so we set up on the floor as normal. we pretty much had the day to ourselves and then had the craic with the wedding party as the families were invited in as well . We had learned 4 new tunes for the couple and the first dance was aerosmith, Dont want to miss a thing , we kept it simple and slowly ramped it up and by the end they were all in a group hug and crying their eyes out , it was an incredible start to a gig. we played for an hour , gave them a good break and smashed it for the rest of the night , lovely couple, superb occasion , superb venue . I had been looking forward to this weekend all year , and it didn't disappoint , but back to reality , I have a week off work to get busy on building work for my new kitchen extension and August is quiet for the band as the lads tend to use it for family holidays . so its not back to gigs till September 3rd , but that is a quality one so looking forward to that as well !
25. We played for an hour at our rhythm guitarists 50th party, it was the only time in the 6 years of the band that everyone had had a few drinks and we were on fire ! Even my daughter thought it was great , and that is a rare occurrence
