1. Just put the Esh and the ebay version up side by side. Oh dear....
2.
looks kinda like one of those esh basses that was in BGM a few months back.
That's the one! The Poseidon. Not a Ritter at all
3.
I have a 4 string Ghallus fretless headless on order
I came very close to being insanely jealous there - but as it won't have a head and is missing a string I shall just be very very jealous.
4.
I am starting to believe I could live with her
Great idea - for a few months at least
5. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
6. I think he might have followed his son's drawing accurately without checking the curves first - almost got there, close to being "right" but not my choice. Maybe he's been looking at too many Ritters.
7. Having read through the TB thread from the OP and had another look at Alan's site I can feel the ACG GAS growing rapidly. 5 string fretless Gallus maybe. Still, I have rather a long time to come up with my perfect spec
8.
I suspect there are people 3 times your age crying as they listen. No, I know it.
Three times and more!! Great stuff Zoe
9. GreeneKing has one of these and will no doubt be along later - but meantime here's a thread about it.
10. Just picked up a Korg rack tuner from Chris - good guy to deal with.
11.
Coolest looking bass on ebay is this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=330345459550
Can't believe I clicked that link without realising what I would see
12. Work of art! Haven't seen any other of his, love the body shaping. Any chance of a full length pic?
13.
Has anyone used Mono Straps? http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...no_STRAPPS.html
No - but I do like the look of them. And the ring is steel so won't break as some of the plastic ones can.
14. I must admit - I bought mine on the strength of more good reviews than bad. TBH I don't do an awful lot on it yet. Have only come back to bass recently and playing my Overwater most of the time. Haven't played the Stagg a great deal, more playing around at home so far. I am starting lessons this week and the tutor also plays DB so I am going to try and fit a few pointers in there as well I am on the south coast (Bognor) so if you ever get down this way give me a shout and you can try it out. Cheers, Brian
15.
something tells me I should wait until the kids aren't around to have a look at that one
You'll be safe - it's not that bad/good (delete as appropriate depending on your point of view)!
16. PS - whereabouts are you? There maybe someone not too far from you who would be willing to let you try theirs. Basschat is good like that
17. I have a Stagg which I like - not got too far with it yet but am enjoying learning. I haven't tried the others, but I am pretty sure the Harley Benton is a rebadged Palatino. I believe HB is Thomann's "own brand" though I could be wrong. Worth looking through the Double bass/EUB section here (try searching on the names of the basses). Also worth looking at Talkbass as they have a large number of users and have discussed the Stagg and Palatino alot. Not sure about the Gear4Music one as that is another rebadged bass I suspect. As with most basses, you are going to find people who like one over the other but often it is subjective. Not always easy to try them out (not many people seem to keep them is stock round here) but if you get the chance then do so. Probably also worth mentioning what type of music you intend playing on it as this may make a difference. And it might also be worth checking out second hand - A new NS Wav isn't too far over your budget and that starts to be thought of as a level higher than the ones you mentioned. lots of questions and not many answers!
18. Do you have the fretted OW now or are you still after one?
19. Aaah - didn't know that - thanks
20. Further to my earlier posts about GAK - was in there yesterday and all the staff I spoke to were great, both in the bass section and the pro-audio. And if the guy from the bass section is reading this the divorce lawyer is on hold (for the moment at least ). Oh, and there was a young teen slapping away on a bass in there at the time
21.
not met many pros then. If someone makes a living from playing bass then surly they are a real bassist more than if it is someone’s hobby or aspiration of a career.
That's rather a contentious statement. Sounds as though it needs a thread of it's own if it doesn't already have one. Edit: and should have quoted iamapirate as he started it
22. True - I posted a link to the original sale on 8th July. Sale presumably fell through for some reason, though usually that gets mentioned in the new listing.
23. I was saying something similar on a different thread - Zoot Performer didn't sell at £299. Hand made bass and not a single bid.
24.
any takers??! or do i need to get a photo? im slack i know!!
"A picture is worth a thousand words" Will save you some typing so think of it as the easier option
