http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXT07AnkYRE I don't care if he's sitting down, thats bloody cool! Actually I heard James Jamerson used to lay on the floor in the studio!
that was due to brandy though, not a shoulder problem as far as sitting down, drummers do it all the time and no-one seems to mind. .
 2. . . . depending on what gear you're playing through, you might be better off upgrading your amp/cab/combo - I saw a mate's covers band a few weeks ago and the bass player was using a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz bass through a Markbass rig and it sounded very good indeed.
 3.
Best looking Bongo I ever saw...... I love the shape, I'm just not into the mad colours, so natural like the one above would be awesome. Surely a Bongo 5HH is the only bass anyone could ever really need? (edit; yes I know this one is an HS)
no, a 4HS is all you ever need
 4.
I would actually recommend the Squier Precision Bass Special. Its got Split P pickups, and a single Jazz style pick up. Also has a Jazz neck, so amazing easy to play. Great sound as well.....and amazingly cheap! Shes my workhorse, been used nearly everyday for 2 years, and still is as good as the first time! Cheers.
what's it like for weight ?
 5. A bit hard to be sure from your pics - the wiring diagram makes perfect sense to me, so assuming all connections are in the right place it should work. Are you sure everything is attached ok ? It looks like one line of the switches is lacking a connection, which I thought was to earth, but it's hard to spot exactly what's going on the pics. No sign of it in the pics, but if there's hum then it's often because the jack has been wired back to front. If in doubt strip it all off and start again - but be careful when soldering to pots as the heat can stop them working if you overdo it.

 7. it'd be alright if some beardy bloke hadn't scribbled all over it . .
 8.
Alrate! Just picked up an '85 Jap Squier precision, and i really love it. Although whenever my finger taps the pickup (which is more or less every pluck) i get a thumping noise through my amp. Im pretty sure being as my fingers arnt metal this shouldnt happen... Any ideas?
if you're tapping the cover and it's making a loud noise then it might have become microphonic, which can be repaired by having it re-potted
 9.
Hi guys, Been looking at guys like Wooten and Marcus a lot recently, with the result that I've become intrigued by one tiny aspect of their playing. It's the way they mix in the percussive extra little notes, which are what really make their lines groove so hard. It's really obvious in this video, at about 12 seconds, where Vic does a tasty little percussive triplet thing; but camera angle doesn't show his hands! Does anyone have any idea about this sort of thing, or how he seems to be doing it? Cheers, Hector
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nq7IxvfOxTQ
 10. I've previously used LMKII heads into Accugroove and Ashdown cabs, and been pleased with the results - I'm now using a MB 3x10 combo which sounds monstrous and has been given the thumbs up on more than one occasion by my fellow band members
 11. once you get used to things you'll settle into it and make fewer mistakes - if it falls down at the same place then you're probably tensing as you approach it (and the others might be too) and making things worse, so either play something simpler for a while until you can all get through the song, or spend a lot more than 1/2 hour a night practicing until it becomes second nature to play it I've recently been depping for a band I played in last year and have done half a dozen gigs with no rehearsal whatsoever, just run through them a day or so before the gig to refresh my memory and away we go

 13. anyone want to make a (sensible) cash offer ?
 14.
I haven't a clue what you've just posted! I'd like to though... It's just general stuff about setup etc. P
heh, I had a problem with the top string rolling off the edge of the board (probably because I use light strings) on both 5 string Bongos I had, so I moved it inboard slightly by modding the nut. No such problems with the 4 string versions though.
 15. a wild guess .. if you fill the top string nut slot and cut a new one next to it, it usually fixes it (I've done it to both the ones I owned.. )
 16.
I have a Roland bass cube 100 I would be willing to throw in the mix
you have a PM..
 17.
PM'd
Back up for sale - I'll consider trades for something smaller, but tbh I'd prefer some cash. £750 still seems a fair price.. Paul.
 18. Musicman Bongo.
 19. I had to lend some cymbals to a mate tonight, and I stuck around to listen to his band. The bass player was using a Little Mark II head into a Hartke 4x10 cab, and playing a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz bass. It sounded fantastic. I'm fairly sure that unless you're a player with specific tonal needs, there is no reason why most gigging bassists need to throw vast amounts of money at a bass when most modern lower end gear is so good.
 20.
Not sure what the problem is, but the guy who owns it is my oldest mate and is a leccy engineer. Apparently the valves are not running at full power. He knows a fair bit about valves but can't fully figure this one out. So, can anyone recommend someone good nearish London who could fix it? Thanks as always, Nigel
I know a very good valve amp guy, but he's in Brum, so I guess too far.
 21.
My original 210 was a Peavey at 4 Ohms. At the time I couldn't get old of a decent 8 Ohm version but I still needed a second cab, so I re-speakered the Peavey to 8 Ohms (2 x 16 Ohms in parrallel) and had a copy made. Did me very nicely for years! Rather more convoluted than SP's changing-of-the-amp route, though. A head and separate cabs is a far more versatile setup.. I use one head - Trace 250W I've had for about 16yrs - and anything from a single 10 to multiple cabs.
use it as a monitor and take a line out to the P.A. ?

 23. One typo, the Dorian has a flat 3rd and flat 7th - you described the notes correctly, but not the "structure" It wouldn't hurt to note that the Aeolian mode is also the Natural Minor scale.
 24.
Well there's this one - is that it?
That one used to be mine originally, I made the "rare" scratchplate and also the thin white piece of plastic to sit under the truss rod cover (swapped over from another 4003 I owned at the time) to echo the white line from the B/W/B scratchplate.
