Got an old Fender Mustang not too long ago; im not sure if i like it yet or not tbh; This seems to be the right thread to piggyback the question of:- what would be the best strings to put on it so its got a similar tension to a 34 scale with 100's or 105's on it. Roto only make sets with a 95 E string- just doesnt feel right to me.

Some other guys will probably disagree; but if im honest i dont think £1k is going to go far for a custom build...i dont know Shukers prices either, but overwaters are just shy of 2k usually, a Status S-2 is about 1500...If theres custom work for less around im interested aswell. Saying that all 3 companies there i do beleive have 24 frets, dual unexposed pickups as standard on most models. So you may be able to find exactly what you want without fiddling too much with the origional designs, and just leave wood choices as the expensive bit.

i honestly think a mock amp to put in front of your real amp which can be triggered to combust using a foot pedal would be awsome! How much fun would you have with that? Especially when playing small clubs

I suppose the contact with the bridge would be what would make it work..like Zemaitis guitars with te entire steel front plate... If it wont make a blind bit of difference then sod it, Gold annodised is alot cheaper

Just want to get one for my Jazz...based on the theory of a solid bit of brass will resonate more...i remember seeing one years ago and loved the idea of it (any help will be apprecitated) P.S. I want this to experiment on a performance thing; so a gold anodised isnt a substitute however would look very cool.

I had one of the acrylic wesleys when i was back in school...i personaly hated the sound of it however had the same experience with liking the extra range...I then changed it over to E-C and much prefered it...age 16 i bought my Jazz V, which was the only bass i played for 2 years lol Dont dismiss the P-Bass...just get a 5 Stringer

I find 2 pints of guiness is just the right about to remove the jitters and still be able to play properly

You can always mod it later if you choose.[/quote] Totally agree; funnily enough thats what i did when i bought my Status, (i was 17 at the time) My Nan; the fantastic old lass had done that whole put money aside for her grandchildren thing...As a result £2100!!, so of course i tried out nearly every bass between 1000-2000, then saw a yonks old slightly beaten second hand status graphite in the corner, asked to try it out, 10 minutes later walked away with and Energy and only 350 quid out of my account for more gear Haha That music shop must have been so pissed off with me lol

(although EBS freak has got a good point on the GB Gspot)

Any strobe tuner is going to give superior tuning to a more traditional style tuner. They're however expensive and that sheer accuracy of tuning wont be heard by most. dont mean too much harm by this; but has rslaing got petersons website set as his homepage; or tucked away in a "special" folder so the mrs cant see haha!

If you want a multi-effects, the Boss ones have a really good compression section, with multiple typles of compression available (even a simulated MXR Dynacomp), And the pedal has an adjustable noise gate (you can either let everything through or make it as quiet as a mouse), problem is, the chorus and flanger are under the same pedal (on the ME50b) I havnt tried the newer Me20b or gt-10b...but by the looks of it the pedals are separately assignable. I have used a line 6 live XT (the big 'ol floor one) before; the compresser is nice and quiet, however i found the sound of it to be too digital, but i suppose some good EQ on top of this would solve any problem.
