3.
That's not my interpretation of it. Even if that is the seller's intention - it doesn't give the green light for people to publicly question the price of the item.
OK I've deleted my comments and reported the original post
4. D'accord trouver 2800e C'est tres jolie.
5. I know one isnt supposed to comment etc but... Wouldnt it be cheaper/better to trade in one of your basses for a new natural Stingray?
6. OK, thanks, bon chance and have a bump on me
7. I'm in love (with the bass of course), where are you and what's the string spacing?
8. Personally I won't consider any damage to the neck and this includes dings, chips and even discolouration. The body can look like it's been dragged around a gravel car park... THe market is slow and I've been looking for a while for a bass and I'm not committing. I need a bass for a short term project and I'm not going to buy one if the prices tank further when I come to sell it.
9. If it's serial number 053, it's my old one. Actually I'd rather not know...
10.
Yep, it's annoying. I'd rather be open to bartering and a broader range of offers, but I spent several days trying to barter with a guy before I withdrew this and he was just not willing to be at all reasonable. I ended up offering him the maximum I've ever seen his bass go for second hand and knocking an extra £50 off the price of mine and he still wasn't interested unless I knocked £100+ off to match the price of a 4 string version he saw on eBay. I'm prepared to work out a deal but he wanted me to give it away and instead of making a proper offer so I could accept/reject, he dragged it out as long as possible while I was trying to be accomodating. This is still here. I'l look at any 5ers, any trade offers will get extra marks for any of the following though: Maple board. MM (or similar) pup(s). 2 pups. Red/Black/Natural body. I'll take a serious look at any reasonable offers though.
I have sold cheaply and taken partial trades of stuff I sold later because for various reasons I had to sell quickly. If you don't need to shift the bass right now, you should get a reasonable deal. Patience, now if I knew what that was...
11. Consider this a bump... I am guilty of keeping my money in the bank at the moment and I'm not really sure why as my sole bass is an Ashbory and I really need something more substantial. Maybe it' s all the spending cuts... Anyhoo, IMHO there's always been an element that seem to think that a trade is valuing there bass more than new retail and yours lower than a dealer cash price. Stick out for a good trade or keep it. That is all...
12. That would be because I sent it to the wrong bloke. Don't tell anyone I think I have got away with it
13. Very interested and very near (Luton), you have a PM
14.
iv) Behaving like a cock.
Rule #1 for a happy life, don't behave like a cock. Case in point I do my best not to be a cock and have bought and sold lots here and met and had pleasant chat with many people including Clarky, Flanker and the bloke I sold a Graphic Fuzz to whose name I forgot but me, my daughter and him sat in a pub garden in Ealing drinking Strawberry beer. BTW we are coming out of a recession... Edit forgt Birdy had coffee with him.
15. Bearing in mind that people can ask what they want for their items.. A while back you would see something go up at a price, stay that way for a while and then be reduced once or twice and then sold or pulled. Now there are items with a 'not reducing' statement and they either sell or not. My conclusion is that things are not so bad that people have to sell gear, they want to. I personally have money in the bank for a bass and I know what one I want. I also have not seen one for the price I will pay for it. That's not the sellers fault, it's my expectation based on what I think is fair for that item. I think that is the case with a lot of (non) buyers. BTW when I have sold I have either ono'd or taken something as a partial trade and then sold it on later.
16. I have a blue one and at this point is my sole bass. I use it for a jam band in London. I go on the train, play for 4 hours, drink for 6 and manage to get home with the Ashbory. Smashing!!! IMHO it's a bass instrument so you play bass on it. Sounds simple but how many of us slap tap play chords harmonics etc? I did. If you leave that out and play for example previously mentioned walking lines or something with a little movement the Ashbory works. It aint going to do all music styles but it suits me and I also borrow a Precision when I need a real bass.
17. I dont usually make random comments of sales threads but that bass is stunning and I dont like maple!!!
18. I bought one new serial number 053 in April 1988. I had some work on it at the factory in 1989. They were just introducing the Series 4000 (which was the same bass but with a plastic body in various paint colours). So 1988-1989 maybe 1990. The Series 3000 had a natural finish and came in three wood options, walnut, cherry and utile mahogany. If your bass is headless and has the natural finish it's a 3000 except for one bass that was (re)finished in sky blue. If it has a solid colour it's probably a 4000. Another similar bass was made, this was the headed Matrix bass, around 90 92 ??? It's a long time ago but maybe this gives you and overview of the bass. Oh btw it was a fantastic bass and I traded mine in 97 for a fretless Warwick.
19. Flanker is a gentleman and good to deal with. He also knows his boutique jazz basses...
