^ thats the thing, i thought it was cheap for a status, i didnt know if they were duff, and i'd heard amazing things of Hyperactive pickups!
I played one years ago. If my memory serves me right after the Series 2 2000 3000 4000 run Status went to names beginning with E. I might stand corrected but I think that the Elite was graphite neck and the Eclipse wood (with graphite reinforcement). They then went to Series 1 just to confuse people. If I got anything wrong I stand by the confused comment. Anyhoo I think they retailed around £600-800 so that's a good price.
who did the same thing with an optical pickup? odd thing that
Lightwave You can buy a Lightwave bass, buy a bass with a Lightwave pickup (Zon, Conklin possibly more) or specify it as an option on a Sei. You can blend the lightwave with the piezo. A friend of mine has a Sei with it on. Work of art. The Ashbory has been around in various forms since the 80's. They have a really nice bassy sound but intonation is IMHO difficult (I played an unlined fretless for 10 years BTW). I dont think you can play on the lines but in between. I played one at the weekend and really struggled. I then played a NS WAV and felt much more at home. YMMV

 6.
Thanks for the tip, I haven't looked at gumtree for a while. Shame its not the red one, I've emailed the seller and all things going well, I'll be paying him a visit tomorrow to take a look... The missus says I have to sell my double bass if I do buy it though How hard can it be to hide a one and a half foot long piece of wood?
OK It's only fair to admit that I have emailed the guy for that Ashbory this morning. However I will not enter into a price war. You have 'first dibs'. Chris
 7. It will go at that price. Most people including me are skint after the hols. Have a bump.

 9.
what do you expect? oh it's a wind up? i've logged on to sell a bass, you can't hold no groove if you ain't got no pocket!
Forum's are places to chat. This site is primarily a place to get and give advice as well as talking bollocks. Most posters have a known history of buying and selling. There's a feedback forum here so you can aget an idea of who is trustworthy, which is probably all of us. I have done a number of deals with very nice people. So yes a first post selling a Fodera is possibly a wind up or that you logged on to sell a bass. Try loot or soundonsound.
 10.
Thanks for the advice...I like the openess of basschat people. There are a lot of numbers going on in your reply, so... I'm open to any reasonable offers for the bass. Thanks again Chris.
You are welcome. Hope the sale goes through. Have a bump as well.
 11.
The bass is up here because I felt like a change, colour wise (yes, very fickle I know) so I would consider a swap. I really like how this bass plays and sounds (I even considered having it repainted but figured that probably wasn't wise and it would be better to leave it with its original finish) so I'm really looking for another active jazz, may be even the Victor Bailey bass, but I'm open to offers/suggestions. The Fender Lyte that's for sale is mine too, so I was thinking of selling them and using the money for a new bass (hence the 'bargain' price they're up for)...I wasn't too hopeful of doing well in a trade in at a shop. Does anyone have any recommendations for bass shops? Ha ha, It's taken me all afternoon to work out where 'my credit card bills' came from, it's actually the writing on the T-shirt I was wearing when I took the photos. The t-shirt has a time line on it that reads: "Born____________Die.................Pay My Credit Card Bills" But no I'm not selling the bass to pay off my credit card, I don't even have one. Well spotted on the control knob though. The knob is waiting for me to get my allen key out and put it back on, it seems to have worked its way loose. Don't worry, it's not missing.
Most shops will give you roughly 50-60% of what they think they can sell it at if you buy something of greater valve. Some shops will charge 15% to sell it for you. I looked around and these basses are £1100 new street price. Thomann sell them for £900. £850 used might be ok if it's mint but i can understand raised eyebrows at the use of the word bargain. Personally I use the ration of 50%-75% of the street price new cost depending on how popular the item is at any given time. Obviously the general financial state of this country has ift's effect. The only thing I could see being really expensive are rare stuff like Roscoes. However these are going at £900-1100 on this forum. Faced with that your bass is IMHO priced a little high. You can put your bass up at whatever you like. THis forum has a tradition of commenting on prices. Like it or hate it. So IMHO keep the bass. By a beater and play that for a while. It will be cheaper than selling yours for something similar. Chris
 12.
Are you suggesting that Owen created his alternative user name CS2 just so that he could slag people off 2 months later, on a forum? It's not like he has to come and do it to your face in your front room, you'll never know who he is unless he takes offence at you implying that he is too guttless to speak his mind (when he already has) and comes round your house with a bucket of soapy frogs and a skindiving suit with the ass cut out. for a bear that doesn't care you're sure getting your knickers in a twist Lovely bass though, probably (almost certainly) better than an new USA. Do you have your bank details in Nigeria, I have some gold bullion I need looked after but I need you to send me a cheque for the transfer fees.
Nope CS2 is me CS from the old forum. Speaking of which I sold a lot of gear on that forum all with prices and good ones at that. Probably because I'm not a greedy bastard.
 13.
Why not simply name a price and if no one likes it, no one will buy. I take your point about not using ebay but I think you'll find that using an ebay style to sell something on BC will get under some BCer's skins, and after all, it's them you're trying to sell to! When buying a bass on here, people like to know where they stand with a deal and/or a seller Good luck with the sale anyway Chris
Which was a little more mature than the way I reacted. Bump
 14.
Want any trades?
Offer him a nice personality, he needs one.
