1. Mint or pearl with covers. My P is teal green metallic, looks super with pearl.
2. I think it looks great without and the holes gives some extra mojo... red tort might look ver nice too.
3. Ah... cheers John.... sounds like FastTech. I may give them a go. Quite fancy the sonic blue 'Ric'... we'll see.
4.
A Chinese interpretation of the 4004LK, Lemmy's bass. Plays well, sounds good, looks good, I am a happy camper.
Was it well wrapped? How long was delivery? I've my eyes on the Macca MMT one. They do lefty and righty!
5. Yes... sounds great... you can play fretless alright and no mistake!
6. Call me old fashioned but I've never liked them... great big ugly things... always preferred the ol BBOT meself.
7. Holy smokes... that is one lovely looking jazz bass... two jacks? Super!
8. They look like nice machines, Gotohs I think, I have them on my jap fretless P. Maybes they just need tightening? http://www.talkbass.com/threads/loose-tuners.895083/
9. Honestly the RoadWorns are the closest you'll get to a vintage fender. For the price they're great value IMO.
10. Please consider a RW 50's... They are bloody marvelous! The burst one is super. http://www.thomann.d..._p_bass_2ts.htm You'll have vintage vibe a plenty... I've seen them a lot cheaper elsewhere.
11. Well... let us know how you're getting on with this project, and pics of course! I been wanting to do a replica of this bass for a long time... was thinking of a CV Jazz for starters... Got to love sonic blue. But I've the hots for a RW precision 57 burst at the moment... my birth year bass. No way could I afford a real one!
12.
You'll have to wait and see!... Ah go on then. Lightly relic'd '60s precision bass, jazz-width neck with rosewood 'board (clay dot inlays & hand rolled fingerboard edges), Olympic White with 4 ply nitro tortoise shell 'plate and all the vintage style hardware/pickup wiring etc. Can't wait!!
Can't wait to see piccys!
13. The RW idea sounds good to me, as it's a 60's clone/replica anyways... You could drop this in... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Madisons-Pre-Wired-Fender-3-HOLE-Stack-Knob-Jazz-Bass-Control-Plate-AGED-/170710176709 Maybe's a refin...bingo!
14. Do you really need the routing hump and date stamp... really? A good start to a replica project would be a CV Jazz.
15. I've always used Rotosound Swing Bass RS66's on my fretless basses, tried other strings but they don't hit it for me like these do. Had my SB1000 for nearly three decades, only minor marking on the board, didn't effect sound at all.
16.
We'll I did say I'd post a few pics when I got chance. My 63JB is getting a bit of attention play wise but below shows some if the construction and relic details. Firstly.....I do believe that is a slab board. Secondly, hole drilled on the back of the headstock where the 'missing' third strap pin should be. Thirdly, crack in the scratch plate. As said before, not to everyone's taste but the attention to detail is pretty good at this price point.
Holy Smokes... that looks a super bit of kit... I love the attention to detail. Looks more authentic than my 62! Enjoy!
17. I had to move on my 78... still brings a tear to the eye... I loved her... oh well. Some fellow in Spain plays it in a disco/funk band now.
18. I have a chinese friend and an Indonesian friend... from a distance they look quite similar.
19. Well... I never met Leo, but I have three of his finest... I had the great pleasure of meeting Mr Wal once, so he would defo be on my list. My good ol mate Mr Karn loved his basses.. I also had a bass by H Noble... he is also on the list (don't tell him Pike!), although I've heard he's a made up geezer.
20. Pics... we need pics!
