2.
If you can find one, the Tony Levin sig model is very, very good and cheap too.
Theres one for sale in my local music shop.
3. After going through a cupboard the other day I came across an old case that is surplus to my needs. It looks like it's made from ply (just a guess) and should take an averaged size Fender although the neck rest inside is missing. Black on the outside and a sort of purple (fake) fur inside. It's in pretty good condition even though I've had it years! I can sort out measurements and/or pics if people want. Shall we start the bidding at, say, £30 collected?
4. IMHO I don't care how many strings your bass has the more important questions are can you play and does it sound good?!
5. I would be so tempted but I'm at least a grand away from the asking price.
6. After checking out many reviews and sound samples I am feeling very tempted by the EHX Bass Blogger.
7.
Well, he's got at least three different OD pedals in there which (according to the threads) will get get stacked in various combinations. A good dirty valve Ampeg sound would be the starting point really - if your current rig doesn't do that then maybe a Tech21 VT Bass would be a good place to start from, and then build on that with the OD pedals.
Oh if I could afford and Ampeg. Would love one one day but for the moment I'm more than happy with my Trace.
8. Out of my 2 the Hoyer SG gets used for live work but the Hofner gets used for recording.
9. I wouldn't buy a bass online pesonally, I would want to try it out first.
10.
the only christmas song i'll stop and listen to.
That and 'Fairytale of New York'.
11. Roto flats on both my basses and they sound amazing! Fat, warm and room shakingly good!
12. If I admit to not liking T-Birds am I gonna get shot?
13. I get my entire rig into the back of a Kia Picanto.
14. Here's my list! Dead Souls - Joy Division Scared of Ghosts - Stiltskin Crossroads - Cream Undercurrents - Fear Factory Robbery with Violins - Steeleye Span Taxman - The Beatles Ok, it's 6 not 4 but they're all quality lines IMHO.
15. Welcome from another Joy Division fan!
16. Thanks, I'll do some experimenting.
17. I'll get my tame fixer man to take a peek inside then. Thanks all!
18. I get a nice ammount of rumble and punch out of my Roto Flatwounds.
19. I am liking the sound of the EHX Bass Blogger too.
20. If you had one of the J coils reverse wound you couold have the switch as series/parallel/coil tap for even more options.
21. Does anyone know what could be wrong with this pedal? It's an Artec Vintage Chorus. Was trying to use it at a rehearsal on Monday but even with the LED lit and pedal trodden on the effect didn't come on. Also moving knobs didn't do anything except when the 'depth' knob was up all the way causing much crackling and reduction in sound. Any ideas what this could be? I'm hoping it's just a loose wire somewhere.
