1. Why do people think that Sire are milking the name.? So Marcus had a deal with Sire, to design a jazz bass, then Marcus thought, oh f*** it, I can't be bothered to give my input to design a P bass with my name on it. I doubt it. Any one who has an issue with his name on the headstock should get over themselves. The only person who cares about it, is the player. Its just an instrument at the end of the day, make it your own.
2. now that is a bargain.
3. WOW.!!
4. Any thoughts about the Bugera Veyron M.? its a great looking amp and 2000w. !!. And bloody cheap. Whats the catch.
5. MIM Fender Jazz basses were never factory fitted with any chrome covers. Lovely bass though.
6. I can't get anywhere near a jazz bass tone on a P Bass? I can get near to a P Bass on a Jazz Bass. This is more of a personal instrument feel preference. Imo
7. Slap works quite well in the right hands though.Unfortunately fashion, and bad taste(Imo) has lead us to this point. You don't hear us debating tapping, or harmonics in the same way. Its a shame, because in the right hands slap bass can be so musical. Of course I'm not saying this Marcus Miller vid is all that, its subjective. Quite an aggressive/percussive style for sure. Its just another technique thats been used in the wrong way for a long many years.
8. Listen to music. Thats what I do.
9. Classic. I had an early USA 75 RI and the neck was superb. The tone of it, is why I love Jazz Basses.
10.
He needed to do something interesting.....A hammer would have done it. Have to say this is the typical long drawn out kind of bass solo that was typical in the 80s full of all the self indulgent things which are practiced at home in front of the mirror instead of what he should of been practicing. No real meaningful musical content either. Its the kind of bass solo that gives the anti slap bass dept the justification to put it down. The drummer also helped by giving him no dynamic whatsoever instead choosing to play hard and loud through out forcing him to go for maximum hitting force rather than dexterity and taste. IMO of course
I gotta agree, I don't like that type of slap at all. But that man is a monster bass player.
11. And you call yourselves bass players without a nod to the masters. Maybe its a slap ting
12. Super Jazzer's just don't get any better than these imo. Just a wicked J tone on the 5 that I played. Way up there with any Sadowsky NYC etc etc.
13. Thanks guys.. Yeah the AG700 is out of range at the moment. Don't really need anything with that much horsepower either. I hadn't looked at the Techamp, thanks Mick. Im leaning toward the TH350, but I'm wondering how loud it is.?
14.
Electro shock therapy. Every time he loses his rhythm hit him with the cattle prod. He'll soon learn.
Sorry that was hilarious
15.
Well first of all you don't say it like that. I saw it as at least as much a failure for me as it was for the student.
Really?, there was me thinking, I would want to actually talk to a child like that. I was leaving it up to Owen's interpretation.
16. When do you say. Your not musical, sorry I can't teach you. ?. That must be so difficult as a teacher. My dad has had to turn (as harsh as it sounds) kids/parents away because some ears/minds just are not geared for music. No matter how much money is given to you as a teacher, it must be a little disheartening for all parties.
17. Great early DVD I've got of some great bass players discussing there technique etc. Interesting to hear how the 5 string had not been out that long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pC_uPPzyWBY
18. Im aware the tone isn't what we all want in an instrument. But it is an eye/ear opener. Its a great example of, the mind sees what we want to hear. I thought bass 1 was the Sire. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ee5J2KvuMHo
19. Im looking for a light weight head, but my knowledge is limited. My previous amp was an Aguilar AG500 and just loved it, but didn't like the weight. So thats a reference point maybe. Ive been looking at the Tech 21 VT 500 or the TH350 second hand. My budget is £500 max.
20. This is just superb. well it makes me move anyways.
21. How can you get 2 pages from this.?
22. Im surprised this hasn't been snapped up. F Clef's are awesome Jazz basses.
23. Lovely, lovely bass. But the pickups are not 70,s spacing.
24.
My work here is done!!! Sorry, only just seen this Glad you're sorted Si // Focusrite Media Relations
