  1. I don't want to offend anyone who plays a Ricky, (but im probably going to). The only reason I can think anyone plays one is because their musical heroes did and it has THAT tone on those records...I played a 4003 a few months ago and I just thought. HHmmm over £2000 for this heavy bass that the strings are rattling on the pointless pup cover when you dig in. Really uncomfortable instrument to play imo.. If someone made a bass now as Rickenbacker does without its heritage and songs that its been on. , im thinking knowone would pay much attention to it. Especially at the prices he or his son is asking. But they be riding that cash wave. You can probably tell I dont like Rickenbacker's.
  2. Yep I did homey.
  3. In the big scheme of the bass world and all the steps forward from the best luthiers in the world. There still s**t.
  4. Just sold a Lakland Jazz to Matt. Met him in a pub, he showed me me an amazing Vintage P bass. Total gent and a bass pro.Had a great chat. Was great to meet you Matt.
  5. Not the noisy kind. After all this time i still dont know how to find mine or post on anyone elses feedback. ?
  6. Went to see these recently at the Mello festival and they were fantastic...The were warming up for Incognito. Formed by former drummer of Brand New Heavies Jan Kincaid. The album is superb. imo.
  7. I had the orange burst quilted maple version of the 55-01. Fitted Nordstrand Fatstacks. What a monster it was. There so comfortable to play with the legendary Lakland neck profiles. GLWTS.
  8. Thanks for the info. Ive played hundreds of basses including my Sei and never felt the need for a lower strap button for balance. Every bass I've ever played has balanced well, If I want to play in the upper register ive just adjusted the position of the strap while playing. I think you will find most basses high end or lower end don't have 2 rear strap buttons.
  9. It wasnt a stupid question. Bass might be life 16 for you dude but not for eveyone. I didnt know that fact. ✌
  10. Valid question with an bad attitude filled answer. Really no need.
  11. Man i love this.!!!
  12. The reason i ask here is because i cant seem to post in the Guitar section. My cousin has a Hofner president. Shes after dates and a valuation.? Anyone.?
  13. The necks are just one of the best things about them.
  14. Just goes to show. Andrew is not a beast of a bass player but he plays perfectly for BNH and thats all i wanted to hear.. He sounded great and punchy.
  15. Ahh brill. !! Cheers Al. Cant find it mind.
  16. Good lord. 😆
  17. A Fender MIJ/CIJ 75 RI sounded just like a MM Jazz to me (well mine did anyways). Although the bass in the clip does sound like a P Bass. But it depends how the OP was EQing the bass.
  18. Oh please. Read the previous comments. We all know a jazz bass isnt just for jazz.
  19. What sort of 4 or 4/5 string are you looking to trade for.?
  20. I dont think i said a Jazz bass was just for Jazz.
  21. I owned a 75 RI with flats on. Didnt make much sense to me. A Jazz was designed for a specific tonal reason.
  22. The whole point of a Jazz is to sound like a Jazz. You can't get that classic high end sizzle growl Jazz tone with flats.. IMO...If my dog meowed I would have a serious issue. Each there own. Of course I'm joking, anyone can put different string on any bass if that's your bag. Its the music that matters.
