  1. Live vocals dont get much better than this. imo.
  2. Fantastic 60s J basses. Blow most Fenders away. I presume this has the USA lakland/hanson pickups.?
  3. Cameronj check her performing this song live on jules holland. Its on YT and is fabulous. 😎
  4. There have been many a post and many a bassist I'm sure (including me) that have posted something that with hindsight maybe they regret posting. So to the higher powers within BasssChat. Why oh why can we as members not delete our posts.?
  5. These basses imo are so underrated. Here is Francis Hylton with a standard TRB 1005J. 3.00 minutes into the vid.
  6. I love this.
  7. I think Eric Gales is a superb guitarist. Oh look its Dwayne T Jnr on bass. Hows about that. These guys imo are off the wall good.
  8. I wonder if that's Billy Cox on bass cause its smoking.!
  9. I love playing live. I don't even need to be paid.If I get paid its a bonus. I love making people dance like I do at festivals live music events that I dig. Half an hour lugging gear around pails in comparison to playing with a tight band live and getting a reaction. Maybe that's the narcissist in me. Maybe there is a little bit of narcissism in most musicians on BC me thinky.
  10. Hey it makes a change from following the guitar part which I loath (sometimes) This is obviously just a practice technique. But ive heard bass players pop in a vocal part briefly. Hmm, bag of tricks have we not. (in a Yoda voice).
  11. Jaco practiced many parts from other instruments from many jazz records I believe
  12. For quite a while now I've not been following bass lines unless needed. Ive been following/learning vocals on the bass. Talk about a work out on bass.. Im aware a lot of bass players practice horn solo's etc Ive found that following vocal parts a real help and a great insight. This is one ive been learning among many others. Her vocals are so full of techniques like vibrato, hammer on/offs and a multitude of vocal expressions that I think are great on bass played at the right times. Its just great practice even if you just follow the root notes. But listen to her vocal techniques. OMG. Then when I have them down I go to the bass parts. What a revelation.!!! Im a massive Anita Baker fan so this record is where I started. One thing I will say. Its fxxxing hard.
  13. 😮😮 £600..Now that right there is a bargain!!!!. These are high end Jazz basses, ive played one and they are fabulous. This won't last long.
  14. She doesn't over play within the context of the record although her bass is out there, a nice fill here and there. In small parts she follows Luther's vocal parts near the end which is very clever. Just absolutely fantastic playing from her. imo. Oh... and to one of my favourite records.

  17. I love SR5's. I had one in blue sparkle with matching headstock Single H. Absolute monster of a bass and looked beautiful. . The only issues was the weight, and a bit of a one trick pony. But what a trick. It would cut through any mix, so punchy. Of course yours is a HH so more versatile. Lovely necks and tighter string spacing make these basses a joy to play. Looks lovely. Congrats.
  18. He doesnt actually say its a Geddy. He probably doesnt even know its a fake. Or he does and hes waiting for a high offer. Hhmmm
  19. Total Bargain.!!!
  20. Blow Tower of Power or any other soul funk band away does this Scottish funk band imo. Their music is so much deeper. I have every recording they have produced and where it comes from im not sure. Its not from Scotland.. Its astounding the great music The Average White Band have recorded.
  21. What a fantastic record from this man.i wasn't expecting it. My sister is a big fan so she plays alot of his stuff. So this record came up after a few, and my ears were alive.. Instantly I thought of the Micheal Mcdonald. Very Doobie Bros. David Sanborn on Sax. I just think its a brilliant record. imo.
  22. Boz Scagg's classic done by the best in the world.
