1. Was a funny thing.. i was round my sisters earlier and my dad was on the piano.. i brought the bass around and there were a few teenagers being daughters and sons of my sisters friends..im talking 18 - 23. i had a quick conversation about the role of a bass in music.. they said they hadnt really thought about it.... they were a mixed bag of hardcore house and Lady Gaga..(w hich has some great disco bass lines by the way) My Dad started playing a rendition of SummerTime up tempo.. i got the impression that they didnt think that it had much to offer until i stopped playing half way through...and started again... then they seemed to realise the important melodic, rythmic foundation that the bass has... "for me" i said, the bass is the most important instrument in most bands..( i felt like a frickin old twat) i went on to say it is the rythm and the harmony in one instrument..and whey were genuinely interested..they may just been being polite... its easy to sit in the crowd and watch.. unless your a muso or a bassist, it takes a bit more effort to understand what goes into, not just bass playing, but instruments as a whole....and the effort emotion and thought that goes into playing and learning.. thats all i have to say about that matter..

 9.
No, that's not true, I often get PMs from guys who clearly know nothing about the bass in question (usually a Precision) asking for my opinion on a bass in the FS section. You'd be amazed just how little some members know. This is why i get arsey when mods tell us off when we question a seller re provenance etc, If the bass is what the seller says it is, why is there a problem? If not, then the question was justified. There have been a few occasions recently when mods have intervened in totally legitimate questioning (the great 'Fender Custom Shop Jaco Relic' fiasco being a good example), and I think this style of moderation is part of the reason why the forum trust has declined. I'm not having a pop at mods here, seriously, but I do miss the old days when we were able to ask genuine questions without fear of a red card. C
this is very true..ive been asked and ive asked guys including Beedster about stuff for sale...Difficult to know everything hey.. and there is always someone who knows more...thats one aspect of BC i like...
 10.
Whilst Basschat is a kindof community, where we should all hopefully treat each other with respect, I always look at items I`m buying in this way: Is it worth the asking price to me? if yes, I really don`t care how much the seller paid for it - that`s really not of consequence to me as the buyer. If I`d previously seen something go for, say £250, that I wanted, but didn`t get there in time, now being sold for £400, provided the £400 was either a good, or fair price, it`s just my tough luck for not being quick enough when it was £250. That`s life - it`s not always fair. Another thing to consider maybe, when someone is selling something ridiculously low on here, does anyone point out that the market value is much higher, so the seller should maybe raise the price?
Yes...
 11. there is no natural progression... its you and what you feel....
 12.
Really nice groove to this song from Timmy C http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KEKL8fcvzY Love playing along to this for the tapping after the intro. To me it sounds like someone desperately trying to escape. Plus the drummers pretty good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KEKL8fcvzY
you posted 2 times bro..

 17. i can appreciate Doctor J,s views... i just dont agree with the hard buying and selling of instruments to make a profit from great people on here..thats it.. im gonna go for £1700 on my Modulus Jazz..any buyers...jeez.. ok £1650.. oh i sound like the soft puppy of BC dont i..
 18.
I just want to know where you find the time to change your avatar so often And who are all these people? C
Chris ive been made redundant....so ive erm....got alot of time on my hands..ive never played so much bass.. all these people? they are the people who i met in the local job centre...as seen by the hoody..
 19. It's a shame to see your instrument sold, thinking it's going to a good home, only to see it for sale again at an inflated price. like P said.... its just not what i would call... "in the spirit of musicians".. i would expect this from shops, etc, not individuals passionate about electric bass... am i old fashioned?
 20.
Might do.
Ha!.. well i will be round in a second with a cold mug of tea...
 21. if you were my next door neighbour and we were doing a deal on a bass would you make a profit on me?
 22. Ok.. on tender feet i ask this question. i should say, this has nothing to do with certain seller that was possibly jumped on a bit unfairly, by me also, so i deleted my message.. it was not the case... but im interested to hear other opinions.. what do you guys/girls think of selling a bass for a profit on BC..i personally think its not on...there are two sides to this... Yes..its a forum to buy and sell basses,amp,equipment...so really its a free market, to buy sell, make a profit... on the other side, i have always thought that BC is a bit of a close knit community, that has respect for one another... this is not ebay..its a forum of bassists and musicians that for the most part know each other.. (i know i do) (ok not that well but there are a few that i speak highly of as people, and have helped me out in one way or another)....one in particular.. For me i dont like it...i understand why some guys do, but this is not a second shop to there personal deals, they may be interested in... i would never sell a bass for profit anywhere...i just dont think its right..im not a sales man and dont really care for money... i cant stay on the shelf on this matter im afraid... maybe becauase ive lost loads on BC...ha.. maybe im being over sensitive, and spending too much time on BC..? any thoughts..
 23.
Donna gardier is alive and kicking and sings with the sunburst band
See i told you i talk rubbish..
 24. Playing a bass with an onboard preamp, into an outboard preamp, into the preamp of your combo, for instance, *can* work just fine. It seems a little longwinded, but hey, whatever works for you, soundwise. yeah it would work but why on earth would you want two preamps going into your amp??????
