1. i heard this today and thought it was really great. really brightened up my day.
2. great great bassline. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcPGfd3OPkk
3.
I think he ran out of ideas now Lakland have his already stolen from Musicman one! I dont mind it, wouldn't stop me buying one same goes for the Alleva 'paddle', sometimes they look much better in the flesh?
with all respect Pete, imo there aren't so many avenues that a bass builder can take to make the perfect headstock. just so happens that Fender and Music Man make great headstocks, that work very well. imo they invented the perfect ones especially the 4 top one underneath 5 string. why make a wheel that is the same as the rest of the wheels and then get criticised because you do so. the best way to look at any design in that respect, is maybe not "stolen" but perhaps respectfully used and embellished on. change in electric bass is overrated imo. i think good basic design was established many years ago with bass. when did you ever see double basses change in design.?? instruments are instruments of the music that change around them. just saying.
4. Not a color i would choose but its still cool. i quite like the headstock.its looks to me like a very early P Bass headstock. but i agree Dan should have thought out that Basses font a little more, very generic, i got this from a graphic designers font book.. . would like to hear an in-depth review of this bass for sure.
5. thanks for all the suggestions guys.
6. here is me mush.
7. bloody metronomes. . its like a boring office job when you go and play/practice the bass.! playing or practicing the bass should be and always should be a musical experience, with sounds to inspire you. great if you want to play endless scales and muscle memory, but why. throw it in the bin. there are so many more avenues to practice timing than that.
8.
IMO his playing reached a creative high point on the Abbey Road album. Here's 'something' to get you started:
fantastic record.. i was thinking something more upbeat.
9. Can anyone recommend me some records that Paul really plays around the chords. I've heard some in the past but I'm not really a Beatles fan so I'm not in the know. a drummer friend of mine says he was a real James Jamerson fan.. any tracks i might want to listen to.?
10.
Just another Fender copy. What's the big deal?
i guess regardless of your opinion on Fender copies. playing one, might answer your question. ?
11. such a great bass line to play. always goes down well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYKYka-PNt0
12. i like the slight floppiness that the Fat Beams have because of the round core., ,nice and loose and with a well set up bass you can get some great growl. but the Low Riders have a hexagonal core which makes them much tighter. a super low action you can get...but I'm definitely a Fat Beam man. imo they are in a different league to any other company, when it comes to electric bass strings.
13. DR Fat Beams imo are the sh*t Jose. DR's are expensive but i love them, and they last for a long long time. best electric bass string in the world imo. just put a set on a Lakland 55-02 and its great. Bass string royalty is them DR's. Low Riders are nice also. For Flats La Bella Deep Talking are really great.
14. wow. that is stunning.!
15. this is a Fender CIJ Non Export 62 Jazz. custom shop Fender pups depending on the year, or just the great Fender USA pups. Fender CIJ or MIJ never made a jazz bass in butterscotch, unless ordered as a custom order from Japan, and if so, its imported, and is very very rare.. this is an off white cream 62 RI non export Jazz bass without doubt. although i recently lost love for Fender these NON exports are great.
16. always diggin there stuff. not sure how much Uriah Duffy plays on them.Killer amalgamation.
17. i used to know this guy who always listened to music really loud. i never could see or hear why.
18. I'm saying this from a, i have no idea perspective, but is there a reason why a P Bass sounds bad soloed,? might it be the player, or just the focus in tone of the instrument.?
19. I just love this band. fantastic arrangements. i would call it heavily orchestrated disco. great bass playing, great horn section. its just damn funky they were produced by Norman Conners.. this imo is a masterpiece of a soul record. 20. when this track breaks its just… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6_9IXIMURo

22.
Love Slip Upon Ya is a killer tune from that LP too.... https://www.youtube....h?v=1fPTewD_b5w
that is slick.!
23. i guess when you get famous you are susceptible to delusion. depending on your character. i don't think Beyonce is awful, by any stretch of the imagination though. she's no Anita Baker or various other soul singers. there's too much money involved that can ruin modern talent. imo. ahhhh. thats better. she makes me think. Beyonce doesn't. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hVp47f5YZg
24. Man this guy imo is just up there with theeee best drummers who have ever lived. Buddy Rich. a short tempered master of rhythm. his drumming is just EPIC. this vid just says it all. his timing is just perfect, his touch is just perfect.when he's slows the tempo and then speeds it up again.. his drumming is nothing short of beautiful imo.
