1. Talking of Skate vids, Sorry to hijack the OP's thread. i was a skater in the mid 90's, Public Domain was a classic, with Ray Barbie, Eric Sanderson, Chet Thomas. McRad was the band. love the record.
2. The ultimate (for me) Steely Dan Live. a very funky Kid Charlemagne. Tom Barney on bass. Jon Herrington on the amazing guitar solo.
3. I would go for the AG4j60 or the AG4j70, The 60 has a nice scooped mid, but nice high's. The 70 has more high mids . I prefer the AG4j60, its a smoother tone to my ears. but I'm torn as i love that 70's punch. Prefer single coils also to be honest as i don't record much.. so the HC's are not for me. The 4j Hot are not to my taste at all. I was thinking about a 5 string set for my Jazz bass. I was also thinking of putting in a OBP3 pre but i might wait and see what its like passive. I do really dig the Aguilar sound. Next I'm going to get an Aguilar T shirt with matching pants and socks. By the way Jonathan Maron is a MONSTER bass player. His playing with Groove Collective is quite amazing. Great vid thanks JT.
4. One of my favourites. Its so impeccably played, recorded, produced. It was a slow burner for me. But i can listen to it over and over again now. Never get tired of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYryV8og6Ms This is also a favourite. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vR9Gvm5lQU
5. Amazing basses. I had a cherry burst 55-01 deluxe with a Glock preamp and nordy soap bars, and it was superb.
6. i have OCD but thats another matter. This is a cracker Mickey. Yep its very rock. but with a snippet of another genre. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGdyVnW86SY
7. This is all very great , but when she picks up the Fender its just some great singing and playing. @ 6.00 minutes in. She plays Wayne Shorter's Endangered Species at 11 40. its absolute killer bass playing.
8.
I had a ticket for their 1974 tour of the UK they abandoned partway thru. I then thought them the most inventive rock band I had heard. Finally saw them in 2000 and they had disappeared up their own fundament! What went wrong?
first off, i think there early sound is rocky ish. but they are not a rock band imo. . there sound is a mix of rock, jazz, funk. Everything went right for me when i heard AJA

10.
Hi James, As Bubinga5 rightly says, it is a different story here in the UK. There is a 'scene', but simply not the market to support many recording artists. Also, unlike in the US, here there is less of a culture of gospel musicians playing secular music professionally, so the 'exposure' for church-based players is limited. There are exceptions, but this is the trend. Nevertheless, there is a wealth of talent here. There are thriving Pentecostal churches in most cities and even some small towns, where congregations worship through both traditional and contemporary gospel styles and musicianship is consistently outstanding. New Testament Church of God and Church of God of Prophecy are two such churches with congregations throughout England. I hope that helps a bit! Tobie
Thats what i wanted to say ya bugger.!
11. You don't see many cherry burst MIJ Jazz basses about. that is a cracker. any trades.?

13.
I absolutely love the Dan and the solo work of Fagen. Currently enjoying back to back listens of Kamakiriad and Sunken Condos on my bike rides to and from work.
he he thats exactly what i do. 35mile round trip on my Trek. Dan and Fagan in my ears. this record is a great one when I'm drifting along.
14. Its the album version from Katie Lied matey. The best thing that ever happened to SD was there love of jazz and funk Charlie Parker etc
15. Ive got to be honest. i see guys selling RI Fenders for what they were new, in some cases more. £1300 for an American 75 RI..????
16. I can never get enough of Walter and Donald. i just think they are very specail musicians, that make seminal music. My sister loves this record and we were listening to it tonight. Denny Dias's guitar solo is excellent. its just a wonderful piece of music. I can not wait for Mr Fagan's new solo album. if i were stuck on a desert island i would hope i had Steely Dan;s music. 17. Im not sure it gets any better, and yes George Duke is on keys also in the background. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTnCHP-9Wdo
18. I owned one of these and the tone was really great, also it was about as fat and monstrous as a bass can get, and i mean window wobbling. The low B is just, . !! what can one expect when you put to Humbuckers together. I'm sure any buyer could tame it.
19. i think Brian Wilson is a genius. Love the Beach Boys. There harmonies are really great.
20. My first bass was a Vintage. great basses. mine was a V series, the body was bubinga. a great 5 string bass that was. GLWTS
21. The thing is i have a local tech who has advised me i should get an Aguilar OBP3, he has quoted me £210. The bass i have is not a drop in jazz plate option, as it has a side jack. i have come around to the fact that i don't like really transparent pre amp's. I've also come around to the fact that I'm talking sh*t and talked myself into an Aguilar.
22. In the UK Gospel, like the stuff you have heard in previous posts is hard to find. There is a church in Gloucester near to where i live that plays Gospel, but it is quite traditional. Thats not a bad thing. London and Birmingham have a great gospel scene. Incognito's finest Randy HOPE Taylor plays in a great gospel band in London. Unfortunately bands Like New Direction don't exist in the UK. Thats the great heritage of black music in the US, it created music like that.
23. A fantastic disco record with a fantastic bassline. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5rMfLJKwIE
